This is going to be the year I finally lose weight

My youngest child is 2 and I'm not having anymore so I need to sort myself out. I am 5ft 4 and weigh 11st 9lbs (I was 11 st 2 at the beginning of December). I want to be 9st 4lbs but would be happy to be in the healthy BMI range so anything below 10st 6lbs.
I have discovered fitness blender on YouTube/Facebook so plan on trying to do one of their videos 5 days a week. Food wise I need to cut the crap so no biscuits/crisps/chocolate . I will try to eat tea with the children, normally we put them to bed and then eat afterwards which means we are not eating until 8pm and then I won't exercise.
I'm envisaging
Breakfast - overnight oats or omelette cupcakes
Lunch - ham/chicken salad, soup or omelette
Dinner - chicken/fish with veg
I will try not to snack but if I do then I will snack on carrot sticks/rice cakes and houmous.
I know I need to up my water intake and reduce the wine so will be doing dry January.
My husband wants to get healthy too which makes me hopeful that this will be the year it happens!
Anybody else want to join me?

Yes good luck everyone! I am going to weigh myself (and measure myself at my widest circumference!) in the morning.

ikillplants for lunch at work I often have some nice soup- a whole tub of chicken with chunky veg, or lentils etc. Yorkshire provender do lovely ones, or waitrose, and there's a few nice tesco ones I loke... Anyway I heat up the whole pot as usually there is only 3-400 calories per pot and that fills me up for the afternoon (historically I would've eaten a packet of oatcakes (6) with it but that's probably bad!!)

Anyway my problem has been getting home from work late, too late for dinner, and just endlessly grazing, so that's what I need to fix. Maybe just a realisation that I'll never be home in time for dinner and pack a salad or the like for tea instead? Watch this space! (Crazy juicing starts tomorrow... Please forgive my embracing of faddy diet craze, just giving myself a motivating kick up the bottom for a week before I begin in sensible earnest!)

IKillPlants · 04/01/2015 19:22

Good luck for the juicing Apple you will definitely get a result from it as well as a boost for your skin and hair.

Thanks for the lunch suggestions - I think soup is probably easiest and if I have the tub then hopefully that will fill me up. When I make my own I just get fed up with it as DH won't eat it and DD1 only likes tomato from the shop. Freezer full of baby meals so no room for me to freeze portions of soup.

Off now to sort out clothes for work. There's not much to choose from as I have grown out of a lot of my stuff. Looking forward to a whole new wardrobe soon, without having to buy it IYSWIM.

I am aiming for 10 pounds loss in Jan, it's just over two a week but I have lots to lose so...

Donthackmenow · 04/01/2015 19:29

I hope that I can also lose 10lbs in January, that would put me at 11st giving me a further 1.5/2 stone to lose by the end of June.

I have had a headache all day even though I have drank 1.5 litres of water so far, I am hoping it is withdrawal symptoms from the crap I haven't been eating! It does mean that I am not going to do any exercise today though so must crack on with that tomorrow.

We have a cafeteria at work that provides 3 hot options, soup (probably full of cream) and a salad bar. I am planning on going straight to the salad and having a ham salad everyday. If this doesn't work then I will need to bring in my own lunch and find a tub of soup is a quick and easy option.

Well tomorrow it begins, and my start weight gets entered. Fingers crossed this is the year i finally release myself from my blubber!
Planning on porridge for breakfast.

GertrudePerkins · 05/01/2015 09:27

right, have got my stats
start weight 12st2
will record losses here each week

GAME ON!

LostInMusic · 05/01/2015 10:07

My starting weight is 11st 2.

pumpkinsweetie · 05/01/2015 11:17

My starting weight is 13st 2lb
Actually haven't weighed myself since having my near 1yo, i was last 14st 7lb, so quite impressed i have lost more than a stone doing nothing.

That has spured me on to get myself down to 12stSmile

AppleSnapple · 05/01/2015 11:42

Hmmm 12st6 here, awful!! Am going to measure waist too now, good luck everyone!

pumpkinsweetie · 05/01/2015 16:33

Didn't do breakfast this morning, cba.
Had a mugshot for lunch, an orange and %0 fat yoghurt, having homemade spag bol for tea.
Didn't get round to purchasing my inspiration dress, will do that Wed, hang it up on my curtains with a photo of me humungous to help spur me on, as tbh normally i give in at the first hurdle, so i need to be extremely motivated to stick to anything.

Donthackmenow · 05/01/2015 17:51

My starting weight is 11st 10. I am feeling motivated but need to go a week at a time as I often feel motivated at the beginning. I am firmly holding onto the '3 weeks to form a habit' so am hoping that if I can keep going to the end of January then it should be plain sailing by then Smile

AppleSnapple · 05/01/2015 20:23

3 weeks to form a habit?! I like it!

IKillPlants · 05/01/2015 20:33

Starting weight 15.4 Shock only myself to blame and don't plan on seeing that again ever.
I like the 3 weeks bit too Donthack

Phwooooar · 05/01/2015 20:53

Hi everyone - I'd like to join the fun!!
Had a horrendous 2014 with divorce etc and stress and no exercise has made my weight get to 15.2. I'm 5'9". I've never been this heavy and want to lose 3 stone. I'm going to run when I can although I work full time and do school runs both ends of the day and don't get home until 7ish, then it's cooking.. Also plan to do 5:2 and cut out sugar. My big sacrifice will be no wine. Starting tomorrow when I go back to work

Donthackmenow · 05/01/2015 21:19

Apparently it is a myth, damn! m.huffpost.com/us/entry/5104807

Hello ladies. I'm in too please - packing 1.5 stone over my fighting weight and have 3 months to lose it which i'm hoping is achievable. Going to do a mixture of fasting/juicing and drinking loads of soups. (and wine once a week only - GAH!!)

Penelopepitstop2306 · 05/01/2015 23:32

Hello. Can I please join? I'm 5'2" and my starting weight is 12st 13. Have gained a dress size every year for the past four years and want it to stop now. I have no specific plan, going to concentrate on portion sizes, drink more water, eat less chocolate and cake and be more active. If only it was that simple!
I tried the gym and of course the only thing I lost was my money so won't be doing that again.
Would like to weigh around 10stone. Have no idea how long that should realistically take. I would love to lose 1-2 pounds a week. Do you think that's achievable? Good luck everyone!

Donthackmenow · 06/01/2015 17:25

I think that 1-2lb a week is definitely achievable, it is meant to be the ideal. You may even find you lose more the first week or so. The trick is not to then be disheartened if you only lose 1 lb or stay the same!

AlwaysWashing · 06/01/2015 21:18

I'm doing my first weigh-in tomorrow and I'll be gutted if I've not lost a couple of lbs. I have to say the hunger pangs are worth eating properly though, I'm loving eating clean and am surprised at the lack of caffeine headache. Not stopped tea altogether but 2/3 cups a day plus loads of water is a great improvent on 5/6 cups and no water and that's my niche I think atm just doing better than I was doing. DH & I went for a walk after dinner last night and it niggled at me for a while that there were loads of runners out pounding the seafront and I wasn't running - but the fact was that I was out walking (briskly) and not sat watching shit telly with a bag of Giant Buttons!!!
Keep at it everyone Grin

AppleSnapple · 06/01/2015 21:35

Good luck with weigh in! I did my first exercise video this morning... First in about 2 years!!!! Feel great (if a bit sore) so just need to keep it going. Getting up extra early to do it is painful but fingers crossed will become a habit (after MORE than 3 weeks as per article above!)

Donthackmenow · 06/01/2015 22:35

I tried to drink a can of coke tonight and didn't like it, I gave it to dh and had water instead! That has never happened before.
Have probably eaten too much though (healthy stuff but still too much) as feel quite full. I am also finding myself a bit constipated which is a surprise considering how much fruit and veg I am eating Confused

AppleSnapple · 07/01/2015 11:05

Unbelievably have lost 4.5 lb already from juice diet (today is day 3) but feeling like shit on sticks, can't concentrate at work so need to ditch it I think. Back to my fitness pal for me!

somethingintheway · 07/01/2015 12:26

First week done for me . Lost 8 lbs. I need to live a lot and I was ill at the start though. Been walking more and aiming for 10000 steps . Once I drop some weight I will start running.

pumpkinsweetie · 07/01/2015 16:20

Welldone Apple and something Smile
That's real good !

I am not sticking to anything in particular as the word 'diet' just makes me want to eat more lol.
Cutting out crisps, chocolate & biscuits, and eating smaller portions

LostInMusic · 07/01/2015 16:31

Well done on the weight losses!
I've also been walking A LOT more - the dogs are absolutely loving it!
Does anyone else feel that they just can't eat treats (chocolate and biscuits mainly) in moderation? I'm coming to the realisation that I just can't. I had a kitkat yesterday and it's like it just flipped a switch in my head...
I also think that I've forgotten what 'normal' portions actually look like. So, I've decided to count calories, at least for a few weeks, in the hope that I can start to re-educate myself.

Donthackmenow · 07/01/2015 17:48

apple and something that is amazing, well done!
I'm with you lost if I have crisps or chocolate then I just want more. I have not bought any this week and it has been easier. I am also trying to eat earlier so that I don't get so hungry I eat anything and everything.
