Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding?

I need to lose at least 2 stone by June.

Tbh I haven't done too bad over Christmas and haven't gained afaik? avoided scales.

I'm 5ft 8 and weigh just over 13 stone. Am a size 14. My stomach is my worst area, legs and arms are fine as are boobs.

I only want to get to a size 12 as don't look so good as a 10. I used to be really skinny when younger and hated it.

Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding? I'm not even looking at dresses yet until I lose some.

THANK YOU!!! I can't wait!

I know why SW count juice as a syn, but I'm sure green juice is fine. Nobody ever got fat drinking 2/3 veg juice and a slosh of apple. It's not like you're drinking litres of sunny delight. :)

I feel really tired today, really washed out. I think I'm missing sugar! Shows how much I've been using chocolate and biscuits to keep myself going. Without them, it's like my tank's empty.

I googled "getting thin for wedding" last night and there were so many features on it! One woman, only young (29) went on Lighter Life before her wedding, lost 3stone in 11 weeks eating (drinking?) 500 calories a day, and DIED. Had a heart attack at home. Imagine. :(

Dowser · 23/02/2015 20:38

Shock!!!

That's just awful.

Yes you are probably right. No one will have got fat drinking green juice. I can't believe how much the diet has changed . You never had free rice or potatoes before and I'm sure lentils weren't free either.

Just came in from our jewellery class and the lamb shanks in the slow cooker are done.

I've had a good food choice day today so won't spoil it. I haven't had much of a and b choice so might have bit of cheeses on oatcake

Ooops. Sorry about double post.

Was hoping to eat oatcakes as healthy extra b choice as I don't eat bread but I think you may have to sin them either that or I have porridge.

Hmmm dilemma. If I have to syn them I'd rather use syns on chocs

So do I need to have my heb choice to lose weight?

WhatsGoingOnEh · 23/02/2015 23:40

I didn't like the new version of the SW diet at all. You know there's a copy of the original Red/Green plan in the older pack? I much preferred that, and you get more Healthy B (bread) on it. But cirned beef isnt Free anymore! Bastards.

Dowser · 24/02/2015 00:10

With not eating bread I'm hoping to do well on the new one. Time will tell lol

For healthy b I can have brazil nuts one day and figs the other.

Can't believe you can have as much rice and potatoes as you want. I'm not a big fan of either but knowing that if Im extra hungry I can eat more of them is good.

I'm not surprised corned beef isn't free any more. I remember it when it was bright red and now it's pale pink, it just makes me wonder what's in that stuff!

I remember the free quiche you could make with it.

I think I have some syns left over so am going to bed a bit synless. For tonight anyway ;-)

What plan are you following Wgoe?

gotredonyou · 24/02/2015 09:15

Morning all-

Did some weight lifting routines on YouTube last night (Fitness Blender) and my arms are aching today- plan to do this mon/wed/fri :)

Todays menu-
B- Porridge, PB & Banana
L- Tuna Mayo Salad, Liberte & grapes
D- Roast Gammon, New potatoes & Salad. x

gotredonyou · 24/02/2015 09:16

Dowser/WGOE- I've never understood how SW works so well when its basically unlimited carbs? I know its lots of home cooking/unprocessed foods but if I filled up on pasta/potatoes I wouldn't lose anything! x

Dowser · 24/02/2015 09:30

Thing is got red, it never used too. Pasta, carbs etc were counted. I think they were healthy b choices and I think you could have two helpings if I remember correctly. That was on the original plan. On the green it was unlimited because meat was counted.

It's your fat and sugar often mixed with flour ie often in your syns that is counted and where they know most people on unhealthy diets will eat a lot from. Ie cakes, sweets, alcohol, crisps

I know when I first started SW I was really surprised at how much I could eat. It was a time when I felt really well too because I was eating regular balanced meals instead of biscuits at breakffast, cheese on toast at lunch and something more suitable in the evening maybe followed by ice cream, pud and custard...etc

They also like to get you exercising and I didn't and lost two pounds every week. This was on the old original plan so we will see how this goes.

SoonToBeMrsB · 24/02/2015 09:39

See, I really liked SW and I got better losses week-on-week than I did on WW or calorie counting but I found it really inflexible. I'd lose 2-3lbs a week consistently but if I went out for dinner with a friend and had a burger and half a dessert, I wouldn't lose anything that week even though it was only one meal Confused

Anyway, I've been a total chubber since Friday so I'm throwing in a fast day. Today will be three Exante shakes, 2x chocolate and 1x strawberry. I sold all of my rank vanilla and banana shakes on ebay yesterday and made a tidy £50 Smile

gotredonyou · 24/02/2015 10:07

There is a girl that I follow on IG who has lost 5 stone in the last year on SW...she posted her weekly weigh ins yesterday and it was like -6, -3, -1, -4,-2,-1,-5 - I used to lose that on Cambridge diet starving myself!! x

SoonToBeMrsB · 24/02/2015 10:17

The SW plan can definitely deliver those results but I found it hard to fit in with my life because I'm out of the house so much between work, college, study evenings, bootcamp, trying to catch up with friends here and back home, etc. It requires almost 100% cooking from scratch with no packet or jar sauces, sandwiches/wraps for lunch mean that you can't have porridge for breakfast because you've used your B choice and my freezer is the size of a postage stamp so I really can't batch cook. I like the idea of it but in practice, it took up more of my time than I was willing to give up.

Dowser · 24/02/2015 10:23

They were good losses Mrs B. I actually remember crying ( gawd I was soft then ) because I'd started WW that was about 30 years ago and I was vegetarian then and was starving as I didn't know what to eat.

Going vegetarian was the worst mistake I've ever made food wise that was because I didn't do it right not because there is anything wrong with being vegetarian, there isn't . I just didn't have a clue.

That's the first time my weight ballooned because my diet consisted of cheese on toast, bread which I'd never eaten a lot of and stodgy Puds. Kids were little and ate meat so did exh so I just filled up on what was handy. I probably stopped being veggie roundabout then and although I lost weight on WW I was often hungry as I'd ran out of food by about 7-8 pm. I think they do it differently now.

I learnt about food with SW and it was just the answer to my prayers . I got to 9 st 6 with WW and was looking a bit gaunt. I obviously found the diet restrictive as I was back up to 12-2 by the time I hit SW.

I must have stayed within the principles of SW as I haven't put it all back on.

Going gluten free four years ago has helped. I used to bloat up all the time. In the summer my feet were like pigs trotters that doesn't happen now I've given up the wheat.

At the end of the day it's horses for courses( I do like a good cliche) . If I was getting married tomorrow I wouldn't be unhappy about it as there's lots of pretty things that will fit. If I can shave a bit more offmy hips and belly by September ....that's a bonus!

SoonToBeMrsB · 24/02/2015 10:34

Dowser my mum insists that my weight got out of hand when I went veggie for two years (15-17yo). I was always chubby because of my penchant for stealing food out of the cupboards or spending my pocket money on sweets but I went veggie with no clue about protein/carbs/fat. I spent two years eating bread, pasta, baked potatoes, etc and my mum told me that she noticed my weight shoot up in that time.

5madthings · 24/02/2015 11:49

Sorry ladies, been a bit awol due to suprise pregnancy and then just as we sere getting our heads round it i have started to miscarry. I will read back later, i hope you are all getting on ok. I havent been running snd am going to have to wait a few days for bkeeding to settle before i do. Mentally i need to run and i am feeling flabby which is just daft as i havent felt like eating so i don't think i have put weight on, its just the mental thing of exercise or lack of making me feel blobby and my hormones are in meltdown.

gotredonyou · 24/02/2015 11:53

I've had a crap day food wise. I went to the cinema and had nachos with all the toppings, plus free biscuits. It was the silver screen, perks of marrying someone older Grin You got free cuppa too.

At home now and went to the chippy for ds2 as he's going to watch footy tonight so needed something quick. I ordered large bag of chips and ate half.

Dp's chicken jalfrezi tonight. Might have a couple of poppadoms? So pretty carb-ful today!

Never mind, tomorrow is another day.

5madthings I'm so sorry to hear that. Be gentle with yourself! Dieting can wait. I have a TON of crash diet info, so don't panic that you have to lose weight now. :)

I'm so much less hungry these days. All I ate all day was one slice of wholemeal nimble with banana and blueberries and cinnamon on, grilled (it was delicious!). Then one homemade grilled burger and salad for tea. And I'm full! Quite tired though.. Luckily tomorrow includes more food. Realllllllly sick of salad now. :)

Dowser, I'm doing The Scarsdale Diet.

Went to gym and did my new program today. Liked the cardio bits (interval cross trainer and rowing), HATED the weights! That part of the gym is too intimidating. Have booked BodyPump class for tomorrow.

Met florist and decided on bouquet, buttonholes and table decs. I now know what my "wedding colours" are!

DP is totally uninterested in the details of our wedding (flowers etc). I like having the freedom to choose anything I want, but I dunno.. Oh I'm just grumpy I think.

Dowser · 24/02/2015 20:27

Aw heck so sorry to hear that 5 mad things was that just a bleed or have you lost the baby.

My DIL thought she had lost her sproglet after a heavy bleed but no he was still ticking away. I think it was a fibroid bleed.

I think the cold weather must have gotten to some of us because I've fallen off the wagon well and truly.

I know my friend offered to take me to the Toby Carvery for a birthday meal . Fine. But did I really have to have a pudding after. Something I never eat.

I feel stuffed, horribly and uncomfortably.

How the heck I write it into my food diary I don't know.

A half slice of beef, pork, gammon, turkey.( no Yorkshire, no gravy!) 4 small roasties, swede, carrot, beans, peas red cabbage, but of cranberry

Gin and tonic

Apple and blackberry crumble and a small amount of custard!!!

Tomorrow is a green juice and soup day!

Hopefully I can bring it back.

Dowser · 24/02/2015 20:44

Interesting mrs b that you and I had the same experience with being veggie. Yes I did it for two years.

I shall look into the Scarsdale diet. See what you do on that.

Wish I hadn't had that pudding. I didn't really enjoy it,

SoonToBeMrsB · 25/02/2015 09:34

I went along to a SW class a few weeks ago to get the new books and I finally dug them out last night. I really don't like the format of SW classes as I can't be bothered spending an hour of my time listening to forty women explain in turn the different ways they ate chicken that week, plus the only convenient ones run on the nights I have college.

I was looking at the online only membership but even with the discount they are currently running it's £45 up front for three months and I just don't really have that to spare just now. I'm going to see if I can muddle along with my books and google but I'll bite the bullet and sign up if I'm struggling.
