Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding?

I need to lose at least 2 stone by June.

Tbh I haven't done too bad over Christmas and haven't gained afaik? avoided scales.

I'm 5ft 8 and weigh just over 13 stone. Am a size 14. My stomach is my worst area, legs and arms are fine as are boobs.

I only want to get to a size 12 as don't look so good as a 10. I used to be really skinny when younger and hated it.

Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding? I'm not even looking at dresses yet until I lose some.

I would love to do therapy again and the nurse who does my contraceptive injection has told me that I should go to my GP if I'm struggling again but he's already helping me get varicose vein surgery on the NHS so I'd be worried that it looked like I was taking the piss, and I definitely couldn't afford to pay privately Sad

Dowser · 16/01/2015 12:34

Thank you got red

Mrs B I think you've been very brave to come here and ' fess up as it were. You could have so easily hidden it in a dark corner of your mind but you CHOSE. To shine a light on it, so here it is out in the open and do you know what

It's NOT going to hurt you any more. Youve slain that dragon!

And you know what.....there will be others but each one will be smaller with less hot flames and angry roars.

There's not a woman here that hasn't slipped up, it's owning it , drawing a line under it and getting back in the saddle.

And you know it could have been so much worse.

Yesterday is history
Tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift
Which is what it's called the present.

It's gone now. Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Forgive and love yourself.

If you haven't already, put on some make up, your prettiest day clothes and smile. It will give you confidence. Notice your best features. Your hair, eyes, skin? Love yourself just as you are now.

You can do this.

I recently looked at some 30 year old photos of myself. I had lovely, teeth, eyes, beautiful skin, nice hair slim and pretty. I was gorgeous. I just never thought so at the time.

Remember, a dragon at a time, a day at a time, a minute at a time.

Love and hugs ;-)

There's too much temptation today . It's ridiculous.

As a child of the 50 s, we never had anything like this. Now like I said previously you can't even buy petrol without the constant temptation of fatty, sugary snacks.

I've got an attack of the grandchildren tonight.5 of them, so it will be biscuits, cookies etc. none for me because none of it is gluten free so that's now an easy one to side step but years ago would have been much harder.

I was in pound land and bought some biscuits, about three packs, then even they start up selling....do I want some chocolate. It makes me so cross.

I bet some of these gyms you go to have vending machines. Crazy, absolutely crazy.

SoonToBeMrsB · 16/01/2015 12:46

Thank you Dowser. It a big reason that I eat things that I really enjoy so long as they fit into my daily allowance, like my granola and yoghurt Wink

I need to really enjoy what I'm eating on a daily basis and it makes my "munchie monster" as I call him a lot quieter and easier to ignore. It may not be the cleanest diet in the world but I need to just do what I can, when I feel up to it. It's hard but I'm learning not to "slash the other three tyres just because I got a flat" so to speak!

lexi86 · 16/01/2015 12:46

freakin just read through this thread and i'm a boro gal too, weakness really is a parmo but 'ive got an amazing recipe for a homemade one now so can almost control the calorie content haha!

not got a wedding to lose weight for but do have a holiday in 15 weeks and weddings to attend hence my reading up on this one. i find MFP good, if i remember to use it otherwise i end up forgetting for like 5 days and trying to guess what i've eaten :)

Jillian Michaels is about to become my best friend haha! hope youre all getting on well with your challenges :)

Dowser · 16/01/2015 13:17

So post your recipe Lexi ...and welcome.

I would make it with turkey as I don't eat chicken.

My exh used to make them with a huge chicken breast, ham, cream cheese. I couldn't eat a whole one. Plus there was a starter and a dessert. He used to go mad.

I'm a grazer little and often and I eat with my eyes. I see something I fancy and I want a taste of it.

That's why I like buffets.

Thanks :) We never go to tgi's because I cant find anything on the menu (bar a side salad) without cheese or bbq sauce- and I hate both. Enjoy!! Grin

SoonToBeMrsB · 16/01/2015 15:27

DownstairsMixUp Thank you Flowers

Gotred a meal isn't complete without cheese and bbq sauce! Wink

lexi86 · 16/01/2015 15:33

30 day shred too done it a few times and love to hate it haha. Definitely notice a difference after doing it though, to mix it up I do a day level one, a day level 2 a day level 3 then a day off because I found I got bored of it!

I'll pull the parmo recipe out when I get home and pop it on :-) definitely going to have to have one for tea if im getting the recipe out :-)

FreakinScaryCaaw · 16/01/2015 23:55

Hi lexi86 I'm not from Boro but near there. Roseberrytopping is from near boro, not sure where she's gone? I live on the Durham coast and we can get parmos here. We make them at home too. Much healthier Wink

I've had an ok day. I had porridge and blueberries for B. But then I had to be out all day with work so the kitchen made me a packed lunch. It was a sandwich, quavers, a crunchie bar and banana with a smoothie. I ate it all but didn't have dinner until I got in 10. Dp made a beef chilli with brown rice. For dessert a yoghurt. I walked a lot today so it's not so bad.

I've lost another couple of pounds but don't feel as if I have?

SoontoB it's good you're being open. That's what this thread is for. To support one another.

Well am off to bed. Am off this weekend and I'll be home alone for most of it. Even the dog's gone with the lads to their dad's house. I get on well with exdh and he likes to borrow the pooch Grin I have lots to do to keep me busy.

Chat soon.

Aaaargh! What a slip up yesterday. OH was busy feeding five of the little blighters. By the time we got our meal I was ready to keel over.

Course cos I was so hungry I ate a marshmallow, some ham, 2 large chocolate jazzies and some cheese.

By the time I got my meal I had only enough calories for salmon and asparagus.
no rice.
I was awake through the night starving.

I hate that.

Dowser · 17/01/2015 09:25

Well done FSC on losing some more weight.

Intrigued as to why you don't think you have.

Dowser · 17/01/2015 09:40

Anyone doing Mfp ? Just wondered what you put down for 250 g of raw salmon that's dry fried. I was getting some ridiculous quotes on Mfp from 52 cals to 564 so I found my fat secret and it came up with 365 which sounded a bit more reasonable especially when I don't eat the skin and theres fat left in the pan.

Dowser · 17/01/2015 10:16

Here's some inspiration. I love before and after photos

Dowser · 17/01/2015 12:20

Aaarrghh!
Just had a sneaky measure in. I appear to have lost an inch of my bust.

Unfortunately my waist appears to have found it.

I'm wearing a different bra from the one I got measured in last week ( I think!) don't know if that's made a difference. Also I think I'm retaining a bit of fluid.

Thinking of my fifteen year old self. Typical scenario. High achiever. Competitive school. Did my first diet at that age. Got my waist to 24.5 inches and it wasn't good enough as my friend was 23 inches.

Dieted down to 7 st 7 and still thought I was fat. Eventhough i was 5 feet five . Parents didn't appear to notice.

Only a uncle who hadn't seen me for a while told my mum to stop me dieting . Don't know if we had the term anorexia then.

Luckily a holiday with lots of lovely Puds put paid to that nonsense but that's when the cycle began.

Thankfully I never went that extreme again but I was three stone heavier by the time I was 20. I was fortunate it was evenly distributed and fairly tall and I did exercise a lot.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 17/01/2015 14:08

Hi Dowser, don't beat yourself up you're doing well.

Your tummy may just be a bit bloated from sugar? It'll be smaller really, especially if you've lost it on your boobs.

I was always skinny as a teen. Ate loads but couldn't put weight on.

I've eaten some peanuts and a scotch egg today. I'll have a snack at teatime and dinner when dp gets in at 8. Not sure what yet?

I'm trying to go for protein low GI. An article I read recently said diets dont' work but following this as a way of life does. Carbs and sugar mess with the insulin. And skipping meals messes with our metabolism making us go into starvation mode. I think we all know that anyway?

I'm going to avoid sugar as much as possible. I don't have a sweet tooth but it's still in things.

I'm off out for a little walk alone, dog's not here. Hip hop abs dvd later and housework will be enough exercise.

If I get through a day without eating anything sweet it's a miracle.

Btw...is it possible to send a pm on MN

5madthings · 17/01/2015 15:13

Well done everybody.

Weight wise I have lost about 2lb, my waist is an inch smaller and my thighs are looking trimmer. Eating has not been so good, this cold weather just makes me want to hibernate and eat! A 45 min run today, 4.3 miles, cold but sunny so lovely.

How are people doing on wedding planning? I have my shoes and have just sorted a hair piece, buying from a friends sil, it's gorgeous and vintage looking and perfect with my dress.

Need to pay and send measurements for my dress at the end of this month. Our restaurant I'd booked, we have done the legal stuff at registry office and have been planning my cake and bouquet with the people making them. Lots of googling. It's getting a bit real! But exciting :)

I have realised I must officially be a grown up,as tragically excited to buy a new food processor/blender with my.birthday money.

Night out tonight so have only had a slice of toast so far today so I can have a good meal and pudding, my run burned over 500 calories as well :)

dowser I am a sugar fiend, I can feel my body craving it when cold, tired etc. So rather than.give it up I just try to be sensible... Some days it works better than others!

FreakinScaryCaaw · 17/01/2015 15:32

Dowser yes you click message poster along the right opposite end where their name is.

I'm not doing very well with organising the wedding party. I need to sort out table decorating. I wish I could afford to just get someone in. I may reel in friends help but if they don't do it how I want it I may offfend by telling them?

Wedding is booked. I need to ring and book lunch but I haven't sent out invites yet. I'm not sure exactly how many will be coming? Only small though so no more than 16. The party's a lot bigger.

I've seen a dress I want to order but I'm hoping to be slimmer by the wedding. I could get it taken in then though. A friend is a seamstress. I'll do my hair myself as am an ex hairstylist....although still do some hair. I want something simple to wear in/on it. Shoes will be neutral and I'll buy some dance shoes for party night. So we can salsa jive Grin

I've just had an apple and did some running on the spot so I was out of breath. Am stuck watching Come dine with me. Should be doing housework!

You sound very organised 5madthings. Wish I was.

Really interesting article here. Talks about how to quit sugar but is interesting for all of us.

Says in that article....The act of coming off sugar has been likened to going cold turkey on a heroin habit.... Blimey!!

Hi everyone, I've had a productive day that involved scrubbing the front of my cooker with a toothbrush - possibly taking distraction from food a bit too far haha. My food has been fine so far but Saturday nights are very munchie for me so I've not won the battle yet. I also took a chance on almond milk as it's on sale in Tesco and it's not hideous in coffee, a bit nutty (who'da thunk it!) but I think I could get used to it. Dairy gives me a horrible phlegmy cough and brings out my eczema so I'd interested to see if cutting milk and yoghurts ease those symptoms a noticeable amount.

B: Shredded Wheat with chopped banana, coffee

L: Homemade lentil soup, 2x ryvita with tomato and basil tuna, 2x nectarines

D: Cajun chicken breast, homemade wedges with rosemary and rock salt, salad, olive oil dressing

S: Another coffee with almond milk, WW peanut butter crunch bar

5madthings · 17/01/2015 16:21

soontobe dairy irritates my eczema as well, have tried so many different milks over the years, but never found one I like enough in tea to swop permanently. I don't eat yogurt or much other dairy ignoring chocolate

dancingwitch · 17/01/2015 20:04

Things went a bit pear shaped yesterday evening as I had fish & chips (although only a half portion) followed by sticky toffee pudding for supper. However, I had only had 155 cals of soup, a pear and a small bowl of porridge for the rest of the day so hopefully the damage won't be too bad. I have had a good day today too with nothing for breakfast, soup and bread for lunch and we're about to have chicken stir fry. I'm supposed to be hopping on the exercise bike after supper but the children were a nightmare at bedtime so it will be late by the time I get to do it. I'm also too knackered! Late to bed last night as friends were staying and then both DC were up in the night & up early.
