that free pass sounds great. We had something similar about 15 years ago to a very swanky gym / tennis club. It had a creche, restaurant etc. Happy days

No formal exercise today as, instead of being desk bound (normal) I was out selling advertising for only 2nd time in my life! If you watch The Apprentice you can imagine it. Well out of my comfort zone. But lots of walking involved. In the rain!

Breakfast : branflakes & banana. latte.
Lunch : lentil soup, bread, apple.
Snack : Sad shortbread biscuit. cereal bar, 2 packet crisps, latte.
Tonight : no idea. Given that "snack " maybe nothing.
Coming in from work is such a crucial time, it catches me out. Not doing a workout led me to the sofa and that was it........

amigababy · 15/10/2014 17:10

it can be a poisoned chalice weighing daily. I sometimes do, but am trying to stick to just Mondays now.

McBear · 15/10/2014 18:51

Amiga do you have a thing for lattes?

Asteria sounds quite brave to only be on paracetamol and profen. Is oromorph liquid? Think that might be what I had after c section.

I don't normally weigh daily but after such a good day yesterday I was certain it would be a good result. I can't do Mondays really as I like a treat at the weekend. Maybe I'll do Fridays.

He's annoyed me again. I get paid Monday so due to my bank it should go in on Saturday. I said I wanted us to go out for the day and he said yes. His mate was also gonna come. Today he again says he has no recollection and his mate didn't say that either. He then said it wasn't the impression he got. He is very very ill at the minute so I think I have to let it go...

So what have you all eaten today?
Sorry to read you having another crappy day McBear.
Do you want me to list what I've had?

amigababy · 15/10/2014 19:19

I do have a thing for lattes Smile They're my non negotiable, my desert island food (drink? )

I got a Nespresso last year and love it. I make them with soya milk, a habit from when I tried being vegan, I prefer it to cows milk now.

McBear is your dp that's ill or his friend? It sounds like things are very difficult at the moment.

McBear · 15/10/2014 19:43

Yes a list please I hate Grin

I've never had a latte. Maybe I will try one on your recommendation. Grin How many calories?

Everything is shit at the minute but mainly work. Female boss is 'over the worst' of her period now so less eggshells Confused doesn't stop the rest of it.

DP is ill with his seasonal flu. As soon as the weather changes he gets it. He didn't sleep at all last night and had the day off which is incredibly unlike him.

OP posts:
amigababy · 15/10/2014 19:50

with 250 ml soya milk its 82 Cal's. Add 1 tsp sugar@16 Cal's = 98. That much soya milk has 7.8g protein and is miles lower carb than cow milk

McBear · 15/10/2014 19:54

Do you have to buy the machine? I may just try a Starbucks...

OP posts:
amigababy · 15/10/2014 20:05

Asteria is it a 5 day or a 2 day?

What's your plans for fasting days? Many advantages to 5:2 diet I think. Nice to have days where food us in the background not the forefront.

amigababy · 15/10/2014 20:08

Starbucks and Costa also good - still soya though. Basic nespresso machine is about 119. pods about 30p each. Its probably the only kitchen gadget I use daily.

ihatethecold · 15/10/2014 20:23

You've never had a latte Shock

ihatethecold · 15/10/2014 20:26

Anyway today I've had
3 scrambled eggs with a slice of smoked salmon. (From Aldi so not exp)

2 slices toast with cottage cheese and leftover italian bean soup.

Turkey bolognaise in half a roasted butter nut squash with feta cubes.

Normally would have a couple of snacks too but I'm feeling a bit off today.

McBear · 16/10/2014 05:56

I'm not a big coffee drinker. Well, I'm simply not a coffee drinker. I love the smell but don't like the taste. I want to find one I do like tho as I need caffeine.

Your list is posh again! It sounds very fancy and very healthy! Do you enjoy cooking?

My list the same again. Pb on toast, soup and a roll and stew for tea...

Asteria · 16/10/2014 07:05

Fasting day today, may go slightly over 500 cal as need to line stomach for pills. Nothing brave about only having paracetamol and Ibruprofen though - I'm in farking agony! (Currently resisting the urge to physically harm DH for thrashing about all night so I couldn't sleep and now when he is finally still he starts to SNORE!)
Have you tried proper coffee McBear? We are coffee purists in this house - we grind our own fresh beans. Instant is horrid and bitter - good coffee shouldn't be bitter even when it is plain black. It's all about water temp - never put boiling water on coffee!

amigababy · 16/10/2014 09:46

I've also got a snorer! I couldn't sleep last night, I was a bit hyper after watching Gone Girl. And then there was snoring. So I got up and watched a bit of telly till I was really tired. (2 a.m)

Just coming to life now with a cup of tea. Day off thank goodness. I might do some more soup making but more in the way of clear broth rather than chunky lentil. Oh and dd has asked 3 deep and philosophical questions for a seminar tomorrow, a kind of survey. I'm struggling, I'm not good at open questions like she had posed. she only wants a sentence for each though.

McBear · 16/10/2014 11:14

Oooh what questions Amiga???

Asteria, can the doctor not give you anything else to help? Even codeine/co-codamol?

No I tried Starbucks coffee once NAND even that I hated.

I am the snorer haha!

OP posts:
Asteria · 16/10/2014 14:24

Starbucks/Nero/Costa are to coffee, what Macdonalds/KFC/BurgerKing are to fine dining!! Your best bet is a really good independent coffee shop - our local one has turned it into a science and the coffee is amazing!

As for the pills - I can't take codeine etc. I'm allergic to loads of the good pain killers.

Have been very good today, only a handful of almonds for breakfast and an apple for lunch

amigababy · 16/10/2014 15:54

all about what education means. In the abstract. Hmmmm. Anyway I answered them. it'll be interesting to compare with dh 's answers.

Not very hungry today, just bran flakes for breakfast and a cheese pickle sandwich for lunch.

McBear · 16/10/2014 17:59

Oh I see asteria, I thought they were similar to paracetamol so you'd be ok Hmm maybe I'll find an independent this weekend and give it a whirl. What your 500 calorie meal?

Would be very interesting (to me) to compare the answers. I'm not sure if it would be more interesting if you had the same or a different background as DH.

Today has been an absolute turd sandwich. I've been spoken to as if I'm simple all day by my boss (not the female) everything I've said is wrong and been an excuse to talk down to me. In a bid to get everything done, I aim to be there for 5am tomorrow. Hopefully prove myself a bit. It's taken all my strength not to burst in to tears several times at work today. I ask DP to drop DD off at CMs tomorrow to facilitate me going early. He says yes. I don't know if this is what at him off but... I look forward to getting home, to my sanctuary. To put the day behind me and lo and behold I walk straight into a cunt. He shouts at me saying I don't keep the house clean enough and I must do better. I said it's not just me etc etc. so he's done the kitchen and I'm doing the rest. I swear I nearly walked out but I have nowhere to go...

I've been quite good at avoiding snacks today but succumbed to homemade plum crumble this evening.
Today I've had:
Bowl cornflakes
Egg sandwich
'Resistant' pasta (as seen on Tv last night ;) ) with tomato / chorizo sauce
Plum crumble and custard (only about 25% of my usual portion size though)

Off to gym this evening to offset the crumble.

ihatethecold · 16/10/2014 19:22

Ok. What is resistant pasta?

epifunny · 16/10/2014 19:30

This explains it properly, but basically it's a way to make ordinary pasta lower calorie and higher fibre without actually changing what's in it:

www.study.cam.ac.uk/undergraduate/teachers/docs/student_conference_teacher_forum_presentation_2013.pdf

Sounds weird, but the graph they showed on TV did look convincing.
I did the re-heated version and it tasted just the same to me.

epifunny · 16/10/2014 19:38

Oops, that's a teacher thing.
For some reason it won't let me post a link from the article in The Independent, but google "resistant pasta" or "resistant starch" and there are a few articles on it.

Asteria · 16/10/2014 19:42

It isn't a 500 calorie meal McBear - it is a 500 calorie day!! I had three apples, a handful of almonds, a couple of emergency squares of plain chocolate and lots of water. I also smoked about 20 fags. So much for healthy...

amigababy · 16/10/2014 19:45

a lot of my food ends up resistant Grin

Dinner was roast pepper filled with melted mozzarella. It seemed a good idea but wasn't very nice.

Plum crumble sounds lovely. I love proper puddings. What will you be doing at the gym?
