Standards have slipped!

My little part time job has become almost full time, the kids have been home and it's been too hot to keep my running up. The old healthy eating has slipped too. Sugar has crept in and weight has crept on

So, sept 1st

Weigh
Measure
Start running weekly x 3
Back to bootcamp
Juicing and healthy eating

And I'm going to track the lot on myfitnesspal/mapmyrun/fitbug.com

Oh, and for the first time in going to do the water thing. 2 litres a day. That is new for me but achievable I think

So, gives us about 3 1/2 months til Christmas. Anyone else?

I'm doing the 30 day plank challenge as well as trying to cycle etc. I've lost my tape measure so can't check my waist, all i know is that it's unhealthily large.

Yesterday I did some mindless picking of food so need to focus more. Also drink more water. Maybe I should dig out my Paul McKenna cd.

I need to think of exercise for today too, I think it'll be an hours walk with 5.5 stone of double buggy and toddlers.

i am not fretting about the two birthday parties at the weekend

californiaburrito · 02/09/2014 09:47

Yesterday was good food wise- managed to have a 500 calorie deficit despite being really desperate when doing the kids tea. Not much in the way of exercise though- sat on my can while the kids were at soft play.

Just had a small protein rich breakfast in anticipation of friends coming for lunch today.

Tomorrow is the big test though- first day of school!

HeySoulSister · 02/09/2014 10:09

Gorgeous day here! And I'm in work all day. Using my fitbug today ( MN product test) will be literally running round all day. Got a smoothie for breakfast, green juice and carrot sticks for lunch. Carrot sticks for a snack and a litre of water!

No idea what dinner will be.... At 6 when I get home is where it tends to go all wrong, so lack of planning is to blame

Good luck today everyone!

Well done everyone.
I was good, nothing forbidden went into my mouth. I must drink more water though.

Thanks for the encouragement with the yoga ball. I think it's maybe not as inflated as it should be, so I'll try it again later after pumping a bit more air in. My knee's a bit swollen and I have a large carpet burn :)
I've got a long dentist visit later - I'm hoping nervous energy burn calories :)

RunningKatie
Good luck with the plank challenge. I done it earlier in the year and at first I struggled with 30 seconds - by the end I could comfortably hold for almost 5 minutes.

Happy day 2 everyone, keep up the good work.

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 02/09/2014 11:26

Hello. Can I join?

Over the last two years I lost about 60lbs mainly through mfp and a mumsnet thread. I have put on 9lbs in a month and although I'm still a healthy weight (9st 11) my stomach is now hanging over my jeans. I'm 5 ft 4 so it's noticeable, especially as my bum and legs and general frame is quite small.

I'm going to really struggle to not snack and not finish the children's leftovers. I have got into so many bad habits.

Good luck everyone, we can do it.

AggressiveBunting · 02/09/2014 13:35

Well today I adopted a fusion approach, so I started with a bacon and egg sandwich ( the breakfast like a king etc. diet), then morphed seamlessly into low carb for lunch ( Vietnamese chicken salad which was bloody delicious, although think the peanuts fall outside the official guidelines). I stuck with that for dinner (omelette with cheese and a lot of asparagus). I know they say you're not meant to eat your kids' leftovers but surely if the leftovers are a pile of asparagus it's fine, right? Had 2 oranges for pudding. No formal exercise today but did 2 half hr brisk walks between dd's nursery and work, and then work and home. In pain from running training yesterday.

tiggyhop · 02/09/2014 13:39

Morning all - Up early for school, off to run 30 mins now (slowly), then we'll see what today brings...

HeySoulSister · 02/09/2014 13:48

Plank challenge is a good one! We do planks at bootcamp so I know them well!
bunting I'm aching from my run yesterday too. Keeping at it tho

A good day again no bread which I think really puts the weight on with me, or atleast keeps a spare tyre and bloated look Blush
I've had about an hour walk buggy pushing and now on my exercise bike will do an hour.

mummypower123 · 02/09/2014 19:19

I'm going to also cut out alcohol all this month so might help too. We'll done all

CarbeDiem · 02/09/2014 20:36

A good day for me too.
Porridge for breakfast
Pierogi (little dumplings made with Rye flour) stuffed with cheese(like a dry cottage cheese) and onion with a beetroot salad.
Pear and joghurt
Lots of green tea but not enough water again - must try harder.

I've not tried the yoga ball today but walked for an hour.

mummy bread or anything wheat definitely makes me bloat badly. I'm not allergic or intolerant but my body just doesn't like it. Luckily I rarely have it in the house to tempt me as Dh is allergic so everything cooked, baked or bought is Rye or corn flour. That said I do prefer normal wheat pasta but I'm not going to buy any and only eat dh's instead.

JavaSparrow · 02/09/2014 20:36

Hi everyone. 2nd day gone to plan, except this carb flu thing everyone talks about...is it like man flu? (Ie: a really bad cold), cos whilst I expected the odd ache and pain, I didn't anticipate a sore throat and cough as well! Just bad timing?

californiaburrito · 02/09/2014 21:46

Managed a 600 calorie deficit today despite having a seemingly luxurious lunch- fig and cheese salad- and an oatmeal cookie! In a not so proud moment I did force encourage the DCs to finish the remaining cookies to remove the temptation.

No exercise to today but I did order 12 tons of topsoil for delivery Friday which will need to be shifted and I don't wanted to do myself a mischief with a yoga ball beforehand. Wink

Java- I know what you mean about the carb flu- I hardcore low carbed along time ago. It was to much for me, after about two weeks I went nuts in a restaurant with some pasta and I felt drunk for about an hour afterwards.

bakingtins · 03/09/2014 07:30

First 2 days gone to plan, except I have a massive caffeine withdrawal headache (cut down to 1 cup of tea a day)
My physio exercises says I may have 'mentally disconnected from my abdominal muscles' which made me laugh - a polite way of saying 'totally fat and flabby'!

thedrummerswife · 03/09/2014 08:25

Hi, may I join? Hi Bakingtins Smile Thanks for directing me here.

I need to lose at least a stone, maybe one and a half, put on over the last few months due to comfort eating.

thedrummerswife · 03/09/2014 09:09

Sorry, posted too soon.

I haven't weighed myself this morning yet, but a few weeks ago I weighed 11 stone 7 and I haven't been eating sensibly since Blush so probably weigh more now Blush Sad I'm 5'7 and my bmi is just out of the healthy region. I'm in my early fifties and apple shaped. Recently I've developed an attractive double chin Sad

No plan how to lose weight yet, although I need to walk the dog more - I got very lazy over the summer as I was working a lot and didn't have time. I'm a bit picky about food, don't like fish much, or eggs, only like chicken and mince dishes, like veg, but avoid some due to ibs. I also avoid wheat for the same reason. I don't enjoy cooking really and would much prefer to bung something in the oven to heat up - but I don't often, try to provide healthy food for dd (who doesn't appreciate it!)

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 03/09/2014 09:20

Sounds like everyone had a good day yesterday.

I ate two pieces of toast and marmite for breakfast, soup and toast for lunch and then a huge Greek salad for tea followed by banana, melon and strawberries.

Then dh brought home some chocolate and I ate half and did I mention I had three savoury biscuits?

It's the best day I've had in ages but I was hungry at bedtime so I definitely need more protein.

baking tins I hope your headache is better this morning. I gave up caffeine in January and had awful headaches. I'm now back up to 4 or 5 a day. When I've got back on track foodwise I'll be swapping coffee for herbal tea.

CarbeDiem · 03/09/2014 10:11

Hi and welcome to the new people joining.

I've woken up feeling like shite this morning and don't know why. Feel a bit fluey but not full blown. It may be a mixture of less caffeine, way less bad carbs and sweet cravings plus I had a local anaesthetic yesterday and I always feel a bit shitty the next day from it - Who knows, but I'd kindly like it to pissoff!

Anyway - starting off with 2 coffee's and some porridge.

To the people with tummy bloating - have you tried porridge to help it?
I find after a heavy bloat - when I eat it for a minimum of 3/4 consecutive days it helps my bloating go right down, I seem to digest better (plus visit the loo more easier) I won't say I have a flat tummy because even when thin I still don't :) but it certainly helps.
I try to have it daily but often get a bit bored by day 5/6 so will eat something different for 2 days then start again.

Have a great day all.

HeySoulSister · 03/09/2014 11:17

Welcome to the new joiners!

Had a good day so far. Smoothie for breakfast and tuna pasta salad for lunch. 1 coffee and 1 litre of water so far.

Going to do some exercise tonight, depends on what time I get home

thedrummerswife · 03/09/2014 11:40

I've weighed myself now - it was much worse than expected, but no surprise Sad

I weigh 11 stone 11 ¾ and my measurements are bust 40 in, waist 36 in, widest part 42 in and thigh 23 in. No surprise then that nothing fits Blush Sad

So .. I can do this, just need to stay focused. I've lost a stone with low carb before, but find it difficult to stick to, given I rarely eat eggs and am limited in what meat I eat. I've got a fridge full of expensive bread I treated myself to, that I don't really want to throw away, but that might be my Sunday breakfast treat?

This morning I had porridge made with half milk half water and half tsp sugar, I might buy some almond milk though.

Stealthpolarbear · 03/09/2014 12:47

You know you can do it drummer, stick with it! Next time you tell us what the scales said it will be good news
Although I have to ask, will bread from Wednesday be nice on Sunday??

AggressiveBunting · 03/09/2014 12:55

I'm currently glugging rose- I'm 7 hrs ahead of UK before anyone directs me over to the Brave Babes thread Grin. DD is being a real PITA about going to bed at the moment and it's driving me insane, especially as I have a pile of school admin up to the ceiling- it seems I need to fill in 20 pages of info just so DD can go to frikkin' pre-school. Question 158: What does your child particularly enjoy? I suspect the correct answer is not "watching Peppa Pig and winding her brother up"

Anyhoo - did Crossfit this morning. Was good and got a PB for push-press. Had 2 x toast with peanut butter and a cuppa for breakfast, fish soup and a tuna salad faith raspberry vinegarette for lunch, some beef jerky as a snack (never know if that's healthy or over processed junk but there you go) and having quiche for dinner (no food other than frozen M&S quiches which must be breeding as we have 7 in the freezer). I'm going to take the crust off. Not working tomorrow morning so going for a 20km run/hike tomorrow (flattish) with a friend with equally trying children.

Welcome to all the posters who joined even more recently than me. Drummer I was going to reply to your other thread but I got flummoxed about you not liking water. Do you like fizzy/soda water? I drink a lot of that. It sounds like with your food restrictions you might be best taking a portion control/ curb worst excesses approach to it- fill up on the vegetables that you can tolerate best.

thedrummerswife · 03/09/2014 13:30

Sorry Stealth, I meant a freezer of nice bread!

tiggyhop · 03/09/2014 13:33

Well today is day 5 of no white wine! Positively amazing. I might be imagining it but I am sure my skin (which is always horrible) looks better. Did a 20 min run and a 1 hr adult gym class yesterday. Today is a 40 min bike ride. Going to set off shortly. Hope everyone's day goes well.

Stealthpolarbear · 03/09/2014 13:44

20km
Freezer makes more sense!
Tiggy are you on the red instead? :o
