Standards have slipped!

My little part time job has become almost full time, the kids have been home and it's been too hot to keep my running up. The old healthy eating has slipped too. Sugar has crept in and weight has crept on

So, sept 1st

Weigh
Measure
Start running weekly x 3
Back to bootcamp
Juicing and healthy eating

And I'm going to track the lot on myfitnesspal/mapmyrun/fitbug.com

Oh, and for the first time in going to do the water thing. 2 litres a day. That is new for me but achievable I think

So, gives us about 3 1/2 months til Christmas. Anyone else?

Anyone still around? Going to wo man up and get weight and body fat checked at the gym tomorrow, I need a kick up the bum to get back on it. I'm within sight of my goal weight, back in my old clothes and feeling pretty good, but seem to be 'settling' for half a stone heavier than my old 'happy weight'

Yes, I find that it's the exercise that really makes the difference for me. Small victory today: was starving on the way home from work, would normally buy chocolate but today bought an apple. I felt so proud of myself!

I'm here. Should be weighed again on Friday. half term wasn't great here either, too much of my Mum's cake. I did a 'fit club' class on Saturday though and survived. The gym sessions are obviously doing some good.

Hello! I'm around 13 stone at the moment (not sure exactly, scared to get on the scales!). Ultimate goal is 10 and a half, which brings me into 'normal' BMI, but 12 and a half by Christmas would be great! Have done lots of walking this week and stuck to WW points. Fingers crossed for weigh day...

I'm here

I also had a bad half-term, I ate all the trick or treat chocolates. And lots of cakes.

I'm going out tonight. Haven't weighed myself for ages.

vashta do you have a target? I want to get to 9st but don't know how much I weigh so it may revise it. Luckily I don't have much of a social life so just 4 nights out for Xmas. I'll be driving two of those so at least won't be drinking.

Xmas will just be me, Dh and dds so can be quite 'austere'. When I grew up xmas involved mince pies, xmas pudding, a massive tin of roses or quality streets, nuts, after eights, dates, trifle, cheese, Xmas cake. Dds don't like any of those things (other than chocolates) so it won't be a mad binge.

Anyone still there? After spectacularly overeating on holiday in half-term I'm now determined to lose some pounds in the lead-up to Christmas! In fact, sod it, during Christmas too.

I'm back. Didn't get a chance to weigh myself this morning, in fact I think it's been a couple of weeks. I was going to try to do it on a sunday then what with being busy constipated I got out of the routine.

Baking well done on losing 1.5lbs, it's brilliant. I hope you have a good half-term and manage sensible portion sizes.

Carbe sorry you've been so badly affected by giving up smoking but it's impressive you've lasted this long. I'm glad your stomach is feeling better.

Good luck with the fad diet. If you've found a diet you can stick to for a short period of time then do it. But please be kind to yourself, you have lots going on (trying for a baby, stopping smoking) and I'm sure your muffin top, fat arse etc are not half as bad as you think.

In a coffee shop having some well needed time on my own!

Baking I was on another diet thread that reached four threads by the time it died out. I often wonder if I repel people becase I kill lots of threads on all subjects! I think people start with good intentions but just don't keep the diet up. It depresses me because you get to know some lovely
people and then see them on other threads and wonder if it would be rude to ask how they are!

I can't see any other posts now so will respond later but must say not having a good week dietwise. I eat well but have been having lots of chocolate and cakes. Today is roast lamb as I'm trying to get dds to eat a wider variety of more adult food. I bought four ready made yorkshire puddings as a way of limiting my calorie intake as if I'd made my own I'd eat four! Will also ration the potatoes.

I've had a blip Baking but I'm currently still not smoking.
I'm looking at something a bit more drastic than SW :)
I really wish I could follow a strict low carb diet because I know that gets good results - it's not the low carbing that bothers me it's the meat/too many eggs and fats intake I can't manage plus it's best that I can include varied fruits and veg to satisfy any sweet/snacky cravings.

bakingtins · 25/10/2014 07:30

still off the fags, though, carbe ? That's fantastic! I'm not sure what diet plan you were following but I remember on SW they suggested if you needed a kick start to follow extra easy ( where you can basically have anything that's an 'ingredient') but have 2/3 of every meal as fruit and veg instead of 1/3.

Johnny - Through trial and error, and Dh being diagnosed with a wheat allergy, I've found that my body really doesn't like wheat so I'm probably a little intolerant. If I keep it out I feel so much better but then I allow it back again fresh bread/cakes Confused

9st 8.5lb, lost another 1.5lb goal is in sight, but so is my birthday.....I'm going to DM's for half term, so food not in my control though they eat fairly healthily, will just have to watch portions. Keep up the good work, losers!

On a different note, what do you reckon happens to all the people who post at the start of a 'challenge' thread then disappear? Given up on the diet after a week or just not bothered about posting? This is the second long term thread I've been on whilst trying to lose the baby weight, the first died a death completely and this one has thinned out (ha) considerably.

Carbe sorry to hear you've not been feeling great. I hope you're feeling better now. Do you think the bloating's caused by some kind of allergy or food intollerance?

My ahem problems from last week seem largely to have gone although I am still eating lots of prunes and plums. I had a terrible, terrible day on Saturday foodwise. Dd1 went to a party and so I ate lots and lots of cakes. I then took dds out for tea and had a steak sandwich and chips followed by dd2s pudding. (dd2 doesn't eat most puddings but dh always orders them as they're 'free' and one of us ends up eating them, usually him or dd1).

I seem to have 5 or 6 very good days a week then undo all my work 1 or 2 days. Tea tonight is seabass and veg but I've had a few biscuits so I know it's not been a great day.

Hope everyone else is doing better than me well.

Hi all,

I'm still waiting for AF to arrive so that I can lift my fat arse back on the wagon. Bloody typical - I'm due today but no sign of her coming yet (highly doubtful I'm upduffed this month) So just a waiting game.

I HAVE weighed myself - let's just say I'm certainly not pleased but it's not as bad as I'd imagined.
There's something wrong with my tummy - I look very pregnant/bloated and it's painful even when I can go to the loo - it can't be from weight gain....I've been way heavier than I am currently and didn't have a tum like this :( Dh keeps trying to steer me to the GP but I keep saying ''just a few more days, see what happens''
If it doesn't get better I swear to God - it will be what makes me start smoking again :( Unless of course, I become pregnant in the meantime.

Anyway - keep on ladies, you're all doing great Xx

I think my problem is that I live really close to work (12 min walk) and for the other places I go to in the course of the day (kids activities etc) I tend to drive as they're too far to realistically walk IYSWIM, especially with a two year old in tow and the crappy or non-existent pavements we have here. I also do a desk job- don't even have to get up to go to the printer. If I have external meetings I do try to walk if time permits but most people come to me.

Good work on the body fat. I like to think I have a big brain- apparently they're mainly fat :-) I'm starting a sports nutrition review with my Crossfit gym when I get back from holiday. Have to write a 2 week food diary and then show the totally amazingly fit, clean eating, tee total gym instructor so that should keep me on the straight and narrow.

Report
bakingtins · 17/10/2014 12:18

I'm the total opposite, bunting I can notch up 15000 steps without thinking about it but couldn't run a 100 yards.
The trainer at the gym did my weight and body fat today - 33% which I thought sounded horrifying but she said wasn't bad, the top end of the healthy range for my age which makes sense since I'm just sneaking back into a healthy BMI. A bit grim to think of a third of me being flab though! My intra-abdominal fat is apparently pretty low it's all on my arse which is good. It will be an added spur to keep it up knowing she will repeat the measurements in a month or so....

Still here. I've got this really annoying thing at the moment- since my race I keep getting stitch. Also havent really exercised this week using "race recovery" as an excuse but really I've just been lazy. Planning on a nice long slow run tomorrow morning before our flight- we're off on holiday for a week- and booking myself into Crossfit for 5 days straight when we get back.

Been using my fitbit for the last couple of weeks to count steps. It's actually quite scary how sedentary my life is unless I make an effort to exercise, so I would no way get to 10,000 steps unless I actually focus on it IYSWIM.

Hope everyone is doing well. I ate loads yesterday but today is a new day. I've just had roasted vegetables, salad and hummus for lunch so feel very virtuous. Tea is likely to be the same perhaps with a jacket potato followed by prunes.

Interestingly Dh announced yesterday he was feeling slightly constipated (there's nothing like a bit of magic in a relationship Grin).

He seemed surprised when I presented him with fresh plums, tinned prunes, dried prunes, and was able to identify which of our four cereals in the house were best for fibre! Naturally he ignored my advice and had a bath.

Vashta I stayed the same too. At first iwas dsappointed but actually your're right. I haven't got fatter.

Today I am having lunch with mil so I will probably have a pudding but last night I roasted lots of vegetables so tonight I can do an easy diet meal.

I've been googling foods high in fibre and It shouldn't be hard to tweak my diet a bit as it's already quite healthy.

Day one on the caffeine cutdown has so far been easier than expected. I have had just two coffees. Having said that I feel slightly coldy, I have a sore throat but I don't think that's to do with the caffeine as it's a weird symptom. I also have a slight headache. I am going to have my final coffee of the day shortly and then switch to water. Hopefully I'll get to sleep easier too.

Report
CarbeDiem · 14/10/2014 11:41

I didn't know they were plums until a few years ago Johnny, so I'll share your dunces hat :)
It's crazy right, I quit to get healthy but I feel worse than ever. yes caffeine could be causing your problems especially if you don't drink enough water or get enough fibre. Sounds better to slowly drop - I also remember the cold turkey from caffeine hell.

Report
JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 13/10/2014 21:41

That's interesting. I have tried tinned prunes and they didn't work but and I am going to sound stupid I just googled prunes and had no idea you could buy them in other formats. I'm adding some to my online order. I also didn't know they were plums yet I've always loved them

I also had no idea smoking could affect you like that. I'm wondering if I'm suffering due to drinking too much coffee and not enough water. I'm not sleeping and generally feeling crap yet I'm the thinnest I've ever been and eating well. I think I need to give up coffee gradually. I wonder if I can cut down to 3 a day from tomorrow and gradually go down to 1 by the end of half-term. Last time I cut out caffeine i did it cold turkey. I had a headache for a week and I can't go through that again.
