Kale chips - sounds interesting. (off to google)

changeeverything · 07/07/2014 23:20

How do you make kale chips? Ive seen them mentioned a few times in magazines but no recipe for them. Wouldn't mind giving them a try.

Waterducksback, with the eatclean you get one cheat meal a week so if you picked a healthy option for one meal out then picked whatever you want menu-wise as the other meal out for your cheat meal..would that work?.

(don't really want to buy the book as it looks like it has to be shipped from US) and I want to start something tomorrow.

changeeverything · 07/07/2014 23:44

Just bought it - Clean & Lean Diet by James Duigan.

I've paid money so I WILL stick to it!

waterducksback · 08/07/2014 00:42

I just hope I don't get too hungry on it Hmm

waterducksback · 08/07/2014 00:50

Chanegeeverthing,
Can I be cheeky and ask for Days 1 -4 of the kickstart menu (my book is due to arrive about the 12th),
I could go on getting some of the ingredients! (I see you've given me day 1 thanks)

Also, do you get a choice of protein - for example, suppose I can't get hold of sea bass - is there another option/s?

Mojito100 · 08/07/2014 00:55

It's wonderful to have more joining. It will keep me motivated. Monday weigh in is good for me. I definitely need to drink more water and exercise more. Taking dogs for walk today so will be on the wagon from today. Keep the great ideas coming. I also can't do low carbs but can certainly cut down on portion sizes.

waterducksback · 08/07/2014 00:59

Mojito, I like to have something to 'follow'.

I don't do too well on low carbs, but I think this Clean Eating has decent levels of protein ,so it could work!

I'm off to bed now.

It's be good to have a weigh in on Monday.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 08/07/2014 07:40

Sounds like clean and lean is low carbing by another name - I'd be climbing the walls by 11am!

changeeverything · 08/07/2014 10:36

Yes the kickstart is high in protein and the carbs are mostly from veg, seeds and nuts. I will try to stick to it as much as possible but will substitute porridge and berries sometimes for breakfast (like this morn!!).

I find high protein works for me but the first few days are a struggle, after that it feels so much easier and healthier.

From the c&l diet plan :

Day 2
Breakfast 100g smoked salmon and cucumber

lunch 100g sliced turkey, timato cucumber soinach 1/4 avocado, drizzle olive oil

Snack 75g chicken and raw veg

dinner 1 grilled cod fillet steamed green beans and veg

snack small handful seeds

day 3
breakfast green beans quarter avocado and 100g sliced chicken

lunch 2 egg omelette with slice turkey and green salad

snack 50g chicken

dinner grilled lamb chop 100g, spinach broccoli
peppers
snack 5 brazil nutd

Sorry bout typos!!

I think yiu could probably substitute the seabass for 100g of some other protein eg prawns, chicken, sliced cold meats, mackerel

have a good day everyone..will post my food and exercise later x

Started off well today - got on scales and was 79.8kg. Can't remember the last time I was in the 70's. Mind you they are home scales so I'm not sure they are always that reliable I may be back in the 80's if I was to get on tomorrow. I won't weigh myself again until Monday so let's see how we go.

I have done well with portion sizes today but did have two sweet biscuits with a cup of coffee. This is better than the 5 I might normally have had. I haven't walked the dogs or drunk any water yet so will head off to do that from now until bed time. For your info I'm in the opposite timel zone to most of you so as you are starting your day I am ending mine. Therefore my comments may not always make sense.

trikken · 08/07/2014 11:41

Hi can I join too. Am 5'10 and 10st 8. Which isnt too bad as have already lost 5 stone but another stone ideally would be great. (Am still a bit tubby to look at.)

Oh yes, thats what im attempting proseccoco. I need to tone up as its all wobble. My mum tum looks worse now if anything as more loose skin. Still hoping losing a bit more and toning might make it a little better though.

changeeverything · 08/07/2014 13:16

Hi trikken Smile

So far today I have had ..
breakfast - porridge with raspberries and blueberries

then went to gym for an hour's weight training (off work this week yayyyy) followed by a protein shake

lunch is sliced turkey, peppers, tomato and raw mushroom salad
, cup of green tea, glass of water

dinner is lean beef sausages and steamed green vegetables

Going to walk the dog for an hour later

How's everyone else getting on? Smile

Sounds a bit strict changeverything!
I'm going to be very careful for the next few days and start getting some of the ingredients you listed - ready for the Clean diet when my book comes in 4 days dtime..

trikken · 08/07/2014 14:34

Sounds good as long as it's not miniscule portions I think. More creative than my foods. I tend to stick to the same lunch thing which is multigrain flatbreads and 30g (or a little over) onion cheddar. Breakfast is always toast and marmite and dinner is a random selection but alwats includes a lot of veg.

nilbyname · 08/07/2014 14:49

chamgeerything what protein shake are you having?

I made chocolate brownies with ds today as he is off school poorly. I've had one! Bugger.

I've eaten
Half a grapefruit
2 slices of smoked salmon
4 oat cakes
A lump of Boursin
A very small brownie

For supper it's lime grilled chicken with soy beans and spinach.

kale

Spread raw kale on a baking tray very lightly spray with veg oil. Season well and add chilli flakes, then roast for 10 minutes. Tastes a lot like crispy seaweed from a Chinese restaurant.
