SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

Can anyone let me know how many Laughing Cow cheese triangles (not the light ones) are in a HEA? Also, does anyone know the syn value of oatcakes? (The rough ones, if that makes a difference). Dying for a snack and trying not to blow things completely by going down the creamcake route ...

TinselgalacticWalrus · 06/12/2006 14:46

Hello lovelies!

Hope you are all doing well. I am really am shite at keeping up with this thread, although I should, because I probably need your support!

I lost 3.5 this week, so that's i stone 10lbs since September. I am so chuffed. I'm hoping to do another 4lbs by new year to make it 2 stone, ans then I only (only, she says!) have another 3.5 stone to go.

I love SW, it's great!

karenj1980 · 06/12/2006 15:14

loooby - not off the top of my head. 5 for the light ones, i think its 3 for the original ones. coffee still works for password on slimming world web so try that out

x

well done tw thats an amazing loss

loobysmum · 06/12/2006 16:51

thanks Karen. My next question is can I get on the SW syns thingie when I am not a class member? I know you need a password but do you not need to give your class and name as well?? Haven't been a member for five years, so would be pushing it a bit!!!

karenj1980 · 06/12/2006 17:08

dont think i did that, give it a try. i'm sure there are loads on there that dont go in RL. don't think it matters at all.

what oatcakes are they i will check for you x

karenj1980 · 06/12/2006 17:16

looby - when u register it says email address, first name, surname and postcode and will ask you for a password.

oatcake???
cheese - it only has info for the original dairylea and you get 3 of those for a HEA

HTH

supermumintraining · 06/12/2006 17:22

welcome karen, looks like you have had a fab weight loss. I am gutted as I only lost HALF a pound this week. I stuck to everything, but did have my blow out on friday, which is probably the cause.
The class consultant did not help as she said i was taking the scenic route and smelling the flowers along the way. She is probably annoyed as I have only lost 5lbs since I started 3 weeks ago, and will have to refund me as I wont have lost the 10lbs by my 4th week!!!

tried to go online Loo, the password is parsley and you dont have to enter the group name or details, so enjoy.

karenj1980 · 06/12/2006 17:49

smit- that is shocking your consultant said that. normal loss is 1-2lb a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5lb in 3 weeks is amazing. i've been doing sw (after dd was born) since march.

tell your consultant to smell her own flowers - thats soooooooooo rude!!!

x

supermumintraining · 06/12/2006 18:09

do feel upset, as I really struggle to lose weight. I think my body is in "starvation" mode and holds on to everything.
There are girls at the group who have lost between 5 and 10lbs in their first week!!!! It makes me feel bitter and jealous, which arent nice emotions, which then leads to guilt. no wonder I cant lose weight carrying all these extra emotions around with me!!!

tiger8565 · 06/12/2006 19:08

slow is good, you don't put it back on as easily....

p.s i thtink the scales were well dodgy yesterday, but i'm getting back on it, and will show em with a loss this week....

i agree with the consultant thing though, they should be encouraging, i know they work on commision as stuff but at the end of the day you're paying for them to help you....HAVE A WORD

oh no. makes me feel a bit better though. Thats what I cant understand, I had been good, well ish!! on my scales from last week I had lost 3lbs,this was at 9am, so here I was expecting to get my half stone award. At SW at 9.30 I had to get on and off the scales 3 times, as I could not beleive it only said a half lb!?!

BigHotMama · 06/12/2006 20:48

What desperado things do you all do on weigh in day to attempt to get rid of an xtra pound or 2? I always make sure I got to the loo just before I leave to go to class, I dont have any liquids for at least 2nhalf hours before weigh in and try to wear sonmething lighter than the week before lol

ledodgychristmasjumper · 06/12/2006 22:10

Hi everyone haven't been on here for a few daysso congratulations on all the losses and welcome to the newbies.

Big congrats on the engagement Rooicosta!

Well I had my weigh in tonight and lost 3.5 pounds! I've lost 2.5 and a 1/2 stone now and got my 2.5 stone award!

StrawberrySnowflakes · 06/12/2006 22:24

BHM - when I went to class there were "desperados" who would shower before class but not use deodorant or talc in case it added weight! We all do these things I think . SMIT, don't feel down - hopefully you'll get a good loss next week and then you can tell your consultant where to STICK her flowers! Thanks, too to u and Karen for the SW website advice. Haven't tried it yet as I've only just gone online but will give it a go before I hit the hay. By the way, oatcakes are just sort of oaty crackers - great with cheese! bad bad bad!!

karenj1980 · 07/12/2006 08:36

i have heard of one lady being so close to target, a pound away, so she sripped down to her undies lol and got to target.

always go to the loo first! wear similar clothes to previous week. once in desperation weighed my clothes

great losses again. what colour is the 2.5 stone award??? thats my next one x

loobysmum · 07/12/2006 10:55

woooh hoooh!!!! That's brilliant Karen! Got on to the members' part of the site and a whole new world has opened up. Until I can get to a class it is going to be SUCH a help. Thanks a mill!!

BigHotMama · 07/12/2006 21:04

Lol Looby I think I may go knickerless to my next weigh-in ha! ha!

Sorry your feeling low Christie, I havent got any advice on the success express as can just about get my head around food optimising. You could check their website for ideas?

Oh and I've been doing really crap this week since i got my half stone badge, think I've got a bit cocky as i didnt really deserve it. Must get back on plan tomorrow, got 4 days to go.
Just had a chip butty with white crusty bread (my dh's fault tho)

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 07/12/2006 21:10

what do any of you eat on the day you weigh-in?

On my weigh-in day (Wednesday usually) I will have my brekkie of shredded wheat & banana, then nothing for the rest of the day I know it's wrong to do that, but old habits die hard! I used to do it all the time....
I ate a banana on Tuessday afternoon this week, and weighed in on Tue night and stayed the same, I blamed the banana

I used to weigh my clothes too... & wear the same underwear

Gosh I sound like someone obssesed

I told the consultant that I had weight off on my home scales and she was horrified, said nobody ever admitted to weighing themselves at home before I thought everyone done that!! I usually weigh myself in morning & night I am sounding more & more like a lunatic... Shutting up now!!
