SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Sparkler1 · 10/09/2006 08:11

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

1/2 lb off..must be the walking!.god knows how id do if i didnt walk everywere!..must try harder this week as its slowing down to almost stopping now!

lurcherlass · 04/12/2006 12:53

yeh, Strawberry, the first stone fell off but I havent lost anything more than a ound or two for weeks, but at least it's not going back on, which for me is a real FIRST!

lurcherlass · 04/12/2006 12:55

Anyone want a great free meal for a green day? For a quick no-cook feast, heat a can of Morrison vegaetable chilli, add a handful of mince quorn. Serve on a pile of rice (those clever sachets if youre as lazy as me). Scoff the whole lot, unbutton jeans and lay on settee to recover.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 04/12/2006 13:04

yes i agree, so long as its off not on, but i really need to be going fo 1 1&1/2 a week to enable me to lose 4st for friends wedding in aug 07!

supermumintraining · 04/12/2006 15:06

ignore them firefly. Who cares what they say ( i know its easier said than done) but you know how wonderfully you have done and you need to keep focusing on that fact alone. Its hard when people knock your confidence, it makes you feel like "whats the point" but carry on. I bet you truly looked fab. You looked great to all your friend on this site anyway.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 04/12/2006 15:59

you are in a whole size smaller!..sod em'!..you know youve lost weight, people say funny things sometimes..esp family

Rooicosta · 04/12/2006 17:56

Yeah, parents are terrible for that. They think they can just say anything and it won't hurt your feelings. You will have looked great firefly and it's not about them, it's about you! Don't let those comments ruin your success!

How's everyone doing with the Christmas shopping? I'm all done so feel pretty smug , just got to wrap them now.... that's the worst part!

lurcherlass · 04/12/2006 18:19

Christmas shopping?? Actually I have got a few bits, but I bought a box of Guylian shells to go with my Mums present and they are c-a-l-l-i-n-g to me from the bottom of the wardrobe, will I be strong enough to resist........by the way Firefly, when my Dad saw me in my new (size 16) jeans, he said "Your legs look like marrows!" thanks Dad!!!

supermumintraining · 04/12/2006 18:28

christmas shopping is the last thing on my mind, I have so much to do i have resorted to the internet. Have just been messing about and found a fab site for an unusual idea. www.inthepaper.co.uk

its great am currently oredring one as a prezzie for my boss, and may do other people too.

let me know how you get on

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 04/12/2006 20:07

Aw thanks for the tea & sympathy girls.

I have thankfully, most of my xmas shopping done!! Just have to wrap them too. Have finally got the xmas tree up, so just need the gifts to put under it now

supermumintraining · 04/12/2006 20:45

agree with Roo, sometime people say the nastiest of things. my dad said to me that I look great from the neck up, the rest I should hide behind a wall!! He thought he was being helpful !?!
Anyway weigh in tomorrow, got to keep positive.

tiger8565 · 05/12/2006 16:52

I agree with the family thinking they can say what they want.....and no it doesn't always help, but i'm sure in one way they are trying...that's what I have to keep telling myself anyhows...(just try not to retort with anything just as mean, it doesnt go down well) I knnow form experience, my mother turns everything into a competition and makes me feel very small with the amount I have lost!!! But I just ignore the comments and just take note of those comments (from a gorgeous boyfriend and my friends) that actually boost my self esteem, and don't knock the confidence that it took so long to gain. Sorry for the long post, I hope some of it made sense, weigh in tonight, aarrggghhhhhh!!!

p.s. does anybody feel bigger now they have lost weight ? or is that just me?

tiger8565 · 05/12/2006 16:53

oops i meant feel small as in confidence wise, not size wise....

lurcherlass · 05/12/2006 18:14

You hit the nail on the head Tiger, "The only people that matter, are the people that matter" So blow the rest of them I say. It's funny, but I know what you mean, I FEEL flabbier and wobblier despite losing weight so slowly. Is it just the fat breaking up to you think??

Rooicosta · 05/12/2006 19:52

Supermum - Just been on that website and it's a great pressie idea. Only problem is, everytime I change the text and upload my photo, it keeps crashing!! Grrrrr!

Did you encounter any of these problems?

Rooicosta · 05/12/2006 20:17

It's okay Supermum - I've managed to do it! Can't wait to see the end result! Thanks for the tip!

loobysmum · 05/12/2006 21:10

Hi folks! Haven't been on for a few days, so sorry if I'm a bit behind with my comments!! Big congrats to you Rooicosta - fantastic news! and I'm sure the thought of next August will keep your nose to the dieting grindstone whenever you feel like raiding the biccie tin! Firefly, it seems a lot of people has this problem with parents - I know I do. I point out to my mum that she wouldn't have many friends left if she spoke to them the way she does to me! Just rise above it. It sounds like you're doing really well. Thanx for posting veg stew recipe, BHM. Will give it a go. Still not weighed myself yet - too scared!!

tiger8565 · 05/12/2006 21:21

put on a pound, so disheartened cuz i feel like i've lost this week AND i've been good....was naughty after the meeting and had sausage and chips from the chip shop, and enjoyed EVERY minute of it...tomorrow is a new day....and I will be sticking to it like anything, i wanna get my club 10 before xmas, it's a bit of a tall order i think though, but I can only try good luck to everyone else who has weigh ins today/tomorrow....hope you all do better than i did!!!

tiger8565 · 05/12/2006 21:22

I think part of the feeling bigger is squeezing into smaller clothes...

oops...just realised 9lbs is a VERY tall order by xmas...maybe if i stop eating ???

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 05/12/2006 21:26

Hiya, I went to a meeting tonight instead of tomorrow night as we're taking the kids away tomorrow evening & I won't be there for the meeting but still like to get weighed

I stayed the same. But I did have some rubbish at the weekend, a couple of slices of pizza.... I'm still not sure though, 'cos my scales said I was 2lb lighter before I went to class... but I trust the SW scales more... Might get santa to buy me a pair of digital ones for xmas

Mumbojumbo · 06/12/2006 10:47

Another 1lb off last week - 5.5lbs to target......don't think I'll get there b4 Christmas but a nice present for the New Year (together with some new clothes - I'm desparate!)

Good luck for all losers this week (weight loses that is, of course!)

karenj1980 · 06/12/2006 11:07

karen x

lurcherlass · 06/12/2006 12:51

Welcome back Karen, and well done for a fantastic weight loss! I havent weighed myself for ages as I seem to be staying the same, but I did fit into a pair if size 14 trousers today- I havent been a size 14 for about 10 years! Like all you girls who are shrinking, I didnt want to go round with my trews tied up with string, neither did I want to spend £30 on a pair that I plan to make redundant in a few weeks. Last month,I went to my local Sue Ryder charity shop and bought 2 pairs size 16 - donated those back today and bought a Marks pair and a Wallis pair (size 14) for £3.25 each! I recommend it while youre still losing!

BigHotMama · 06/12/2006 13:17

Wow Karen thats a great loss you should be very proud!

Well done Mumbo fingers croseed you get to target for crimbo!

Firefly, I can totally relate to you hun about parents. My dad sometimes calls me thunder thighs, and after having my ds 15 weeks ago by C-sect, everytime he sees me he keeps staring at my baby belly and showing me different excercises to do to get it toned, then when he sees me a week later he says I can see you havent been doing those excercises then? Arrrgghh! They dont realise how much it cuts you up. It doesnt help you either? Makes you feel like sh*te. On the other hand tho my mom is helping me by coming to class with me.

Wehey I lost another 1.5 lbs this week so have now lost half stone in 2 weeks am dead chuffed as I had a bad week last week with fish n chips, pizza, vino and chicken n chips, and not sure how i did it?

karenj1980 · 06/12/2006 13:51

thanks for my welcome back - i've got a suitcase of size 14's I won't get into for years. Suits, trousers etc - Next, M & S etc. My auntie just got down to a size 14 so will be going through it first but after that your'e more than welcome to them.

I also got Miss Slinky 2006 for my class. I cried like a baby at class. I felt so honoured by everyone voting for me. I'm still 5 stone away from target and the other 2 ladies are nearly at target and "slinky"!
