SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Sparkler1 · 10/09/2006 08:11

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

i am at weekend, ive seen a gorgeous black coat(friend bought it) in evans,,£65..but hey, didnt get anything for 1/2 stone award

BigHotMama · 27/11/2006 17:10

Well done Strawberry, Tiger, Supermum and Beth for all the losses! If we can all try to come on here as often as possible and spur each other on we could probably get another stone off before crimbo..hows about that for a goal to aim for? Is it possible do ya think?

Overall this past week I feel I've done quite well. For me, its really all about making sacrifices to achieve your goals and get results you are looking for. I've quit my daily intake of rubbish which was sugar in tea, white crusty bread, biscuits, crisps and chocolate this week so am sure I've lost weight.

I've got my 1st weigh in tonight so fingers crossed x

supermumintraining · 27/11/2006 18:11

thats brill everyone is doing so well. Weigh in tomorrow and its my STAR week, so hopefully will still have lost despite the additional 5 or 6 syns for the Millies cookie (thanks Beth)
Good luck to all this week and see if we can lose the stone for Christmas!!

lurcherlass · 27/11/2006 18:18

Just got a recipe for a yummy blue cheese dip off the SW website."crumble a Healthy Extra portion of strong blue cheese into a tub of quark or very low fat fromage frais. Stir, refrigerate overnight and voila! Delicious on crackers, melted on top of steak, stuffed into chicken breasts or drizzled on salads".
Does anyone know how much Blue cheese is a HE? Can you girls ask at class? I'll love you forever...

ledodgychristmasjumper · 27/11/2006 18:22

Danish blue is 28g HE on green, camembert is 42 g on green. hth.

xena · 27/11/2006 18:35

ooh beth I made that curry for DH and I and it was lovely, I did double take at the tablespoon of curry powder but it was lovely and spicy. I am so desperate to lose this next stone but had a really bad weekend curry and beer on friday and chinese and wine on saturday . Must get back on track until thursday when I weigh.

StrawberryMoon · 27/11/2006 19:20

BigHotMama..how've you done??...id like to see more people more often on here as sometimes i feel like a natter but spose people are busy elsewere..but never mind, i still get lots of support and encouragement..tbh, i couldnt have done this 1st stone without you lot(Gwyny speech coming on)

lurcherlass · 27/11/2006 19:29

ledo, you are an absolute encyclopedia of SW knowledge!! Thank you so much, I am going to make that tomorrow, have a red day and a BIIGGG
steak to pour it on.. yummee...Most days I don't have my HE cheese, as I can't think of anything to do with it- any cheesy ideas gratefully received!!

Rooicosta · 27/11/2006 19:36

Well done Strawberry on your loss and everyone else - there has been some great losses this week. I lost 2lb's last week and my next weigh in is Thursday. Not done too brilliantly this week , had lots of wine (my biggest downfall) and eaten a couple of biscuits today - been good otherwise though!

Had bacon SW quiche with quorn sausages and tinned tomatoes for tea which was yummy and totally filling!

What's everyone else been having?

xena · 27/11/2006 19:46

I had a jacket with beans and a triangle of dairylea light. I wanna lose more

BethAndHerBrood · 27/11/2006 20:23

I'm struggling a bit here girls!! Help me out!!! I was so determined after class last week, but somehow have fallen off the wagon a bit/lot! I've just scoffed a mini mars bar, mini milky way and a penguin (the biscuit, not the beast!), in the kitchen while DH was upstairs, then I've hidden the rubbish in the bottom of the bin

Need some snacky ideas please, things that seem a treat. I'm sick to death of fruit and yoghurt!!

Rooicosta · 27/11/2006 20:38

Hi BAHB

I have been guilty of doing that too - hiding the evidence!

You are allowed everything you have eaten though as long as you syn them. A mini mars bar and milky way are 5 syns each I believe, and a penguin is 6.5, so provided you haven't had any other syns today, you're only 1.5 syns over, which I think is pretty good!

Don't feel as though you can't have nice things like this as that's where it will go wrong and you will end up bingeing.

Have you thought of snacking on Ryvita Goodness Bars or Alpen light bars (2 bars for 1 HEB). They give a good sweet fix.

I also snack on Babybel Lights (3 for 1 HEA) if I fancy something savoury. Or if doing red, I particulary like crabsticks!!

Good luck and don't put all that hard work to waste just cos you've had a few chocolate treats. We all need something to keep us going!

StrawberryMoon · 27/11/2006 20:57

thanks Rooiscosta
LOL with you eating your penguin LOL..i know what you mean tho am a choc moster and if ti time of month, anything and everything will do..i lurve the choc orange hifi bars (1 he) and the choc mint ones in variety pack are supposed to be gogeous!..try them, they may help, i have two a day for my HE

ledodgychristmasjumper · 27/11/2006 20:59

lurcherlass the info I gave you on blue cheeses were for green day healthy Extras unfortunately there is no mention of blue cheese in red day healthy extras. Just wanted to warn you before you covered your steak in it tommorrow!

StrawberryMoon · 27/11/2006 21:05

im off for the night girls, dd coughing like mad in her sleep, so ill be on floor in her room tonight again..poor lamb..good luck for tomorrow everyone.xxx

BethAndHerBrood · 27/11/2006 21:11

Thanks girls, unfortunately my choccie fest was not the only syns I've had today, digestive or three anyone?

BUT, tomorrow is a new day, a fresh start, etc..... I shall be completely in control. We'll see..........

And yes, the minty hifi bars are to die for.

StrawberryMoon · 27/11/2006 21:15

my consultant said today all her fellow consultants are complaining to try and get a triple pack of just the mint chocs

Mumbojumbo · 27/11/2006 21:28

Lost 3.5lbs this week - goodness knows how but I'm down to 10st 6.5lbs! Also got Slimmer of the Week so I'm really pleased. Just the boost I wanted to get me towards my target of 10stone.

Good luck to all for pre-Christmas weightlosses!

lurcherlass · 27/11/2006 21:59

Well done Mumbo, 3 1/2 LBS is a marvellous achievement! It was nice to hear that others have overdone the syns and then put it behind them. Wise words from Rooicosta, I guess you just have to think like Scarlett "tomorrow is another day". I had a cake/bikkie/choc outburst, but managed to get back to it mext day. Looking forward to the blue cheese sauce even if I have to syn the cheese!!

StrawberryMoon · 28/11/2006 08:18

well done mumbojumbo!

good luck for a good day to you all today.x

BigHotMama · 28/11/2006 09:52

Wehey I lost 5nhalf pound at my 1st weigh-in. Am dead chuffed with the results and its spurring me on to get this stone of lard off for crimbo now as I know I'll be stuffing myself silly with Dh while he's off work!

I am a chocaholic and have been drinking choc options drinks for 2 syns to give me taste of something sweet. Look forward to it every night.

As for cheesy ideas, I just cut my 28g of cheddar and eat it with an apple, or sometimes just grate it on top of a meal like a chicken stir fry, may sound yuk but its quite tasty once melted.....

Today am planning a green day:

28g Shreddies with chopped banana for breaky

Scrambled egg with 2 slices of toast for lunch

Vegetable stew for tea

Plenty of fruit
Sugar free Jelly
Packet o skips (5 syns) for treats.

BENDYB · 28/11/2006 15:31

hi every1, can i join u on here?
I done SW for a few months before I got pregnant so I have a basic idea of it, lo is now 3weeks old & I weighed myself 2day, i was shocked! Basically I have about 3 & a half stones 2 lose & right now that seems impossible! It would b good 2 have a bit of support with it!

supermumintraining · 28/11/2006 15:45

well done BHM Thats a fantastic weight loss. See the syns were still okay too.

I lost 1 and half lbs this week, which makes 4 and half in total in 2 weeks, which isnt too bad considering its my star week and i am craving something sweet. Love the Hifi orange and choc bars, they are great.
password this week is COFFEE

ledodgychristmasjumper · 28/11/2006 16:41

Well done on all the losses! Hi BENDYB you'll lose that in no time honest. I have my meeting tommorrow but again not holding out much hope it was ds's first Birthday on Saturday and I had too many Vodka and diet cokes and lots of tortilla chips etc. I woke up on Sunday with the bug the dc's had last week and still feeling rough so can't even exercise it off! I really wanted to lose two pounds this week too so I'd get my 2 1/2 stone award. I'm having quorn sausages, mushy peas and syn free chips tonight and am trying them a quicker way. I softened the chips in the microwave for 5 mins first rather than par boiling them and i've put the quorn sausages sprayed with fry light in the oven too even though it doesn't say you can oven them. I will let you know how they turn out!

BENDYB · 28/11/2006 16:48

hi, yeah hopefully it wont take me long 2 lose it! Just seems like a lot 2 lose! Whenever i tried makin them chips before they have never turned out very good! How exactly do u make them? I cant work out why mine r always crap!
