SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

thats a good loss, did the other lady have a lot more to lose?
you have done great, keep it up

BethAndHerBrood · 22/11/2006 21:32

Hi, well done on the losses everyone! I've got my class in the morning, and am not feeling confident! I have discovered the joys of digestive biscuits this week, and have had a lot of roasted veg done in olive oil. We shall see in the morning!

DH, on the other hand, has been on the plan for a week and has lost 13.5lbs!!!!!!!!!!! In a week!!! If only we could all do that!!

ledodgychristmasjumper · 22/11/2006 22:13

Omg I lost 3 pounds tonight! How the hell I did that i'll never know I drank so much at the weekend!

StrawberryMoon · 23/11/2006 08:20

well you did so welldone!

xena · 23/11/2006 09:59

wow beth what a great start your DH had. lurcher what a great loss!
My 2lbs has just taken me over my first stone hooray- does that mean I can treat myself

lurcherlass · 23/11/2006 15:27

Well done everyone on all your losses! Xena, of course you must treat yourself, twice, one pressie for each half stone lost- isn't that right girls? Oh god, I can imagine my DH if he'd lost nearly a stone in the first week, he'd be insufferable!! Dont tell him about the half stone treats either, or he'll be up the town come the weekend looking for electrical gadgets to reward himself with!!

supermumintraining · 23/11/2006 15:53

the other ladies did not have as much to lose as I have, stawberry.

Well at least its a loss. Lets see what next week brings.

talking about DH mine is losing weight rapidly and he is getting unbearably smug!! 1 stone in 2 weeks, but through lots and lots of exercise. He cant believe I can eat so much and "claim" to be trying to lose weight!!!

StrawberryMoon · 23/11/2006 18:05

ah well put paid to my theory!..i found that the more fruit i ate (melon strawberries etc) the more weight i lose?!

BethAndHerBrood · 23/11/2006 20:40

Well, I maintained. I'm a bit fed up about it, as I thought I was on a roll, but the rolling appears to have come to a standstill. I feel quite determined to lose some next week, even though I'm going out for lunch tomorrow. Pizza Express or cafe rouge. I will just have to be extra good for the rest of the week.

On the plus side, DH grabbed hold of my bum, and complained it had shrunk!!

Hi can I join this thread as just gone back this week to Slimming World and would be good to talk to others for support.

I'm a new mum my ds is 13 weeks old and am loving it but feel I need to get back into shape as my tummy is making me cringe. I've done this plan before and lost almost 2 stone so I know it works but that was when me and my DH did it together for our wedding, nowadays he's not so bothered about his weight and I'm worried I'll find it really hard seeing him eating home made chips and chocolate (not together obviously!) in front of me. So far I've been really good and havent had many sins. Weigh in is Monday nights for me so I'll be expecting to see a good loss.

I

frenchmummytiger · 24/11/2006 14:23

Well, I've just been today and have lost another 5lbs !! Still a long way to go to target though....

The answer to the chips and chocolate is to make a HUGE pile of slimmingworld chips with mushy peas and fried egg (all in frylight) which is completely sin free on a green day. I love minstrels as they are 10.5 sins for 42g (approx 16 in total). Count them out into a little bowl and enjoy

Making myself drool at the thought

frenchmummytiger · 24/11/2006 14:25

Just tried new HiFi bar, mint flavour..... Mmmmmmh........ There go my B choices !!! Good job they only sell them in mixed packs or I might be tempted to have all 3 at once !!!

lurcherlass · 24/11/2006 14:26

Welcome BHMama, congrats on your lovely baby boy. So, the DH is letting himself go now he's got his girl LOL I think he must be persuaded to come back on the plan with you, but if he won't you must establish some rules. In our house, if anyone wishes to eat cakes, chocs or junk food of any kind, they can do it anywhere in the house/garden/garage/car/shed/loft just not in the same room as me!! We dieters are only human! Mind you I just popped in Sainsburys with a freind and ended up being tempted by a still warm french stick. Blew all my sins for the day on a peice weighing 82g, but it was worth it! I'm sure you'll do well, just enjoy your syns so you don't get fed up.XX

supermumintraining · 24/11/2006 21:08

Welcome BHM. I bet you will do really well on SW especially if you have done it before and succeeded.

Anyway what is wrong with eating chips and chocolate at the same time, sounds like a fab idea to me.

BigHotMama · 25/11/2006 11:10

Thanks for making me feel so welcome everyone and cheers for the tips too. I feel like I'm really in control of what I'm eating for the first time in ages. Last night I cooked a beautiful chicken stir fry with a small jacket spud on a red day. To make the stir fry extra tasty I also use 1/3 of the nacho cheese cheese potatoe wedge mix in the stir fry only 2 sins and its very nice. Did use some sins on 2 halves of lager last night but it made the lager taste sonice and I tried not to gulp it down and made it last me lol.

Tonight will be a tester though as off out for a meal at Frankie n bennys and then to cinema to see James Bond film. Am on a green day so willl stick to Jacket spuds or pasta in tomatoe sauce. And minstrels sounds perfect for pudding lol.

How much have you lot lost so far then? I'm hoping to lose 4 stone and I'll be very happy. At the moment I'm squezzing into a size 18 and have always been a comfortable 16 and know I'd like to be there again or if poss a 14.

I've just weighed myself oops and looks like am doing well at mo.

supermumintraining · 26/11/2006 20:54

Hi BHM
glad to hear you are doing well.I have just had guests round for the weekend. Did well until we went out, and had 2 Millies Cookies (anyone know the syn value please?) Had a roast, no potatoes for my original day, but also did have some crisps in the evening. Scared to get on the scales now, weigh in is tuesday!!!
Got loads to lose, too scary to think about and is only week 2, lost 3lbs last week, just got to keep motivated.

BethAndHerBrood · 26/11/2006 21:13

Well, when I went out on friday I went to Cafe Rouge and had a ceaser salad and two, yes two, cafe au laits! But it was bloody lovely!!!
Since then I haven't done too badly, lots of roasted veg though, which I don't think is doing me any favours. DH made the prawn curry out of the latest sw magazine for tea on friday. It was okay, but a bit bland. I don't think he spiced it up properly.

And I have to agree with the comment about the minty hifi bars. They are gorgeous!!! Also agree that if there were three in a pack you would eat them all!!

BethAndHerBrood · 26/11/2006 21:16

Had a look in my directory for millies cookies. There is only white chocolate ones in - 5.5 syns. HTH.

frenchmummytiger · 27/11/2006 00:17

BHM, I've lost 1 stone 3lbs so far this time (in 6 wks). Also did SW a couple of years ago for a friends wedding and lost 2 stone in 6months. This time I reckon I've got 3 stone to lose, so only 2 stones to go now !!!! (Had pizza this weekend, so might have put on !)
I LOVE MINSTRELS !!!! Good job it's a re-sealable packet LOL, if only they lasted long enough to go off !!
Good luck and let us know how you get on....

StrawberryMoon · 27/11/2006 08:22

morning girls..everyones sounds really enthusiastic at minute.send some of it my weigh!.off to step on scales this morn..am struggling with plan at mo..so dont know what to expect, rather i do know but

tiger8565 · 27/11/2006 10:39

hello everybody...

i have been watching this forum for a while (it is the most friendly and informative chat on slimming world that i have found) and I thought I ought to show my face

Every time I fall short on motivation I have come to here and it has quickly put me back on track.

I have been followig SW for 6 weeks and have lost 9.5 lbs so i'm chuffed. Back in most of my old clothes and have just passed my medical to join the forces ( i thought my weight would rule me out). But I am still going to follow the diet as I still would like to lose another 1.5 stone.

To all you out there I have to say SW is the simplest diet to follow and the motivation provided by your fellow members is AMAZING...something you just dont get when you do it on your own!!!

Thankyou ladies for your help....(sorry for the long post)

xx
