SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

Well the correct way is to par boil them then drain let them dry for 10 mins then shake them up in the pan to fluff them up a bit. Then put in the oven ata round 230 on a baking tray sprayed with fry light till they go brown however by the looks of mine atm the microwave thing first they are going brown really quick.

ledodgychristmasjumper · 28/11/2006 16:51

Thge quorn sausages are browning in the oven too , have just tasted a chip and they are lovely so I think microwaving them for 5 mins first is the way to go saves on the washing up too!

BENDYB · 28/11/2006 16:52

yeah thats how i done them before & they took forever 2 cook! Maybe its my crappy oven! Think I will try the microwave thing & c if that helps.
thanks!

ledodgychristmasjumper · 28/11/2006 17:05

wow what a result the chips look and taste like chips you do in a deep fat fryer and the quorn sausages have ovened fine put them a little earlier than the chips though.

StrawberryMoon · 28/11/2006 17:14

WELL DONE BigHotMama, thats fantastic!..BendyB..you will lose a fair amount of that weight if you follow sw as your LO is only 3 wks old, you will still have 'baby fat' hanging around, which with a nudge in the right direction should come off well!

good luck

and ledodgy..i do my chips in micro all time and love em..couldnt be botherd 'par boileing them and waiting 10 mmins'..i want them NOW!

lurcherlass · 28/11/2006 17:37

Thanks for the password Supermum. I decided to try a few red days, but spent a fortune on prawns, smoked slamon, steak and those tasty little chicken bites from Tescos. Maybe I ought to abandon my gourmet menu and go back to beans on jacket potato! Still it was nice while it lasted!

BENDYB · 28/11/2006 17:51

thanks strawberry!

chips sound good ledodgy, sorry 2 sound thick but do u put them in water in microwave? 4bout 5mins? Then how long did they take in oven?

StrawberryMoon · 28/11/2006 17:56

no you just 'chip' them and put them on plate in micro, when you put them in oven give em a spritz of frylight and a sprinkle of salt/garlic salt..mmmmmmmmm..nice with garlic dip too(quark & garlic clove blended)

BigHotMama · 28/11/2006 18:19

WElcome BendyB and congrats on ther birth of your lo ds or dd? I have a ds 14 weeks old. I ate crap the first few months though and honestly thought bf would have helped me lose weight but it hasnt just made me eat more lol

The best way I find to the chips is to keep spraying them every 10 minutes and turning them over otherwise they get bit hard and crispy. defo put them in microwave for 5 mins in a bowl of water before putting in oven. I usually sprinkle some salt and black pepper, or even bit of thyme and basil to spice them up a little.

Well the stew is stewing and Dh has bought himself a big bloomer loaf of white crusty bread... I cant even look at it am quite jealous. But I got my little wholemeal loaf to keep me company ha! Keep saying in my head 'come on you dont need that white bread...you'll feel fab tomorrow for resisting and beign in control is what its all about'..I know if I had even one slice i'd just go downhill and tuck into more naughties then wake up tomorrow feeling like a failure!

Well done to Mumbo for getting slimmer of the week, you go girl!

Ledodgy, have you tried the spicey Bowyers sausages? I prefer them to the quorn, I just cant take to any of the quorn range, bit like chewing plastic for me.

Lurcher, I always have at least 1 or 2 red days a week so i can have bacon, tuna, chicken or steak. Bloddy lovely! Always have to save a HE B for a jacket spud though too.

BethAndHerBrood · 28/11/2006 20:15

Lots of us with new babies on here, aren't there? My DS2 is 20 weeks (I think )

I am managing a lot better today on the snacking front. I'm sat here with a BIG tub of pineapple cottage cheese and a plate of cucumber, apple and ryvitas. It's actually really nice, sounds naff though!! I had 2 digestives earlier and that's it.

[feeling very proud emoticon]

BENDYB · 28/11/2006 20:55

thanks bighotmama, i have a ds.

thanks 4 the chip advice, tried them again 2nite & they were yum!!!

supermumintraining · 28/11/2006 21:58

looks like i am missing out on some lovely chips, will have to have a go tomorrow. i am trying to do a row of green days then a row of red, just so I can get the hang of it. Don't know if I am though!!
Had some lovely home made veg soup today. Made enough to last a few days, that way I dont give myself a chance to think what can i eat every time I open the fridge door!!!

BigHotMama · 28/11/2006 22:20

WEll done Beth for being very angelic!

Well I hate to admit this but the white crusty loaf got the better of me and I just had to have one slice of it with my ab fab stew. I only had 1 slice though so its not too high in sins.

Arrr my DH has just started to took into a boost....but strangely enough I'm not even tempted..I'm resisting this one!

StrawberryMoon · 28/11/2006 22:22

and although i did have a doughnut today, ive jsut emptied two packs of choc chic cookies and choc hob nobs into bowl and had 'one'...thats 1..left them for dp, then put in cupboard for kids tomorrow!..working hard on this wil power malarky

lurcherlass · 29/11/2006 11:03

I have a big box of Special K in the cupboard, (leftover from the last diet I tried)! I was hoping it was a HEB but it's not on the list. Whaddaya think Girls, shall I eat 28g and count it as a HEB or give it to my freinds ducks???

ledodgychristmasjumper · 29/11/2006 11:07

Give it to the ducks I think. Our SW leader mentioned something about special K not being on the HE list for a reason can't remember the reason think it's got lots of sugar in or something.

BethAndHerBrood · 29/11/2006 11:24

Does anyone know how many syns in quorn mature cheddar and broccoli escalopes? I looked on the sw website and I couldn't get them to come up. Got them out for tea, but I'm sure there is a largish syn value to them because of the cheese. Thanks!

I am just about to have a bowl of smokey bacon noodles and mushy peas! Yum!!

xena · 29/11/2006 11:48

I'm not sure how many but some of the cheese could a HE.
What is quark SM?
And does anyone have this weeks Password? Thanks

BethAndHerBrood · 29/11/2006 11:52

Password is coffee.
I've found the syn value, 7 each! Can I count 6 as a HE A choice?

StrawberryMoon · 29/11/2006 15:00

quark is like cottage cheese/fromage frais - smooth and cheesy..natural yogurty

loobysmum · 29/11/2006 15:36

Hi everyone.

Don?t know if anyone remembers me ? I was on for a very short while back in about Aug, but home computer was rubbish and didn?t like to push my luck at work TOO much! Anyway, got new computer (but pushing my luck here at work today anyway ), so can hopefully keep up with you all from home now. Don?t see so many of the names I remember from before but still the same warm, supportive ?feel? to the site. Can I join in again pleeze?? Did SW a few years ago and found it brilliant. Wanted to give it another go back in the summer but find it difficult as I can?t get to a class and have to try to follow it at home. Also it has changed a bit since I did it (about 5 years ago!) and so have I ? now got a 22 month old dd and about 3 stone to lose! Enjoying reading the comments about the SW chips ? they?re good, aren?t they? I used to love them with beans and macaroni cheese (which I believe is a no-no now), or with Quorn sausages done in the oven ? fab! BigHotMama ? your veg stew sounds like it was pretty good. Any hints? I do a sort of veg curry/spicy stew with tinned tomatoes, paprika and fenugreek. Makes the house smell like a takeaway but worth it! Ledodgy, your seasonal name changes are keeping me amused!!

lurcherlass · 29/11/2006 15:37

Thanks Ledo, lots of little flakes floating on the pond as we speak...(don't worry if you've just joined in, we're not on anything illegal!). Getting a bit bored with weetabix, anyone tried any new tasty cereals?

ledodgychristmasjumper · 29/11/2006 16:38

Oh poo i've just remembered it's bring free food night tonight so am having to make a veg chinese stir fry as I have nothing else in and now realised I only have the tiniest bit of soy sauce left.

lurcherlass · 29/11/2006 17:17

Welcome loobysmum, you can have Batchelors macaroni cheese on a green day, dont add butter and it's 1 syn on green. Enjoy!

BENDYB · 29/11/2006 17:32

welcome loobysmum!

lurcherlass i was also wondering bout cereal, i've just been having weetabix coz i cant remember what else is a HE! (I havent got round 2 finding all my old books & stuff yet!) What else is a HE?
