SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Sparkler1 · 10/09/2006 08:11

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

Top tip for those gals who like to celebrate with a G & T on weigh-in nights..I bought a bottle of Schweppes diet tonic with lemon and found that it now has a crafty little plastic top, which you use to measure your 35ml of gin for 4 syns! I'd been trying to do it with a medicine pot thingy..

ledodgyfireworksingedmyeyebrow · 14/11/2006 22:12

Yes and if you only measure to the first line up that's only 2.5 syns.

ledodgyfireworksingedmyeyebrow · 15/11/2006 18:33

I'm just about to go to my club but am peed off as although I have been good this week (apart from only exercising twice) i'm on the second day of a period from hell and just know i'm retaining water. GRR

ledodgyfireworksingedmyeyebrow · 15/11/2006 21:56

Hello, I lost 1.5 pounds which is better than nothing and lost the same last time it was the second day of my period but lost 3 pounds the week after so heres hoping! Everyone commented tonight on how slim I look now which was nice because even though I know I've lost over 2 stone it's hard to comprehend.

fireflyfairy2 · 15/11/2006 22:19

Hi! I had 2lb off tonight, bringing my total to 9lb in 8wks. Also signed up last week for the 7lb in 7wks before xmas, so sopefully am on my way...just 5lb more to go before xmas

Well Done everyone else on their losses

lurcherlass · 16/11/2006 13:35

ledo, just fish out a pair of big trousers that used to fit you and try them on, then it'll really come home to you how much you have lost! I have lost a stone and have gone down from a bulging 18 to a comfy 16. I was tempted to chuck all the big stuff out, but I'm glad I kept one pair, the waist is below my belly button now (despite all the large G & T's. Keep it up gals, those Christmas frocks are just around the corner!!XX

xena · 16/11/2006 18:09

Hello girls I lost 2lb this week
Well done to everyone.

Does anyone know what the online password is? Thanks

supermumintraining · 16/11/2006 20:10

password is mushroom this week.

Started SW this week and I am shocked that I am supposed to eat so much. Will I lose weight if I eat less than they recommend. Can't seem to get my head around it all and eat as much as they say. It seems so wrong. Have been told all my life that I am overweight because I over eat and now I am being told to eat more than normal in order to lose weight. Its bizarre

xena · 16/11/2006 20:55

thanks supermum

Have you read the 'science of food optimsing'. I think that basically 'food optimising' teaches you to eat properly- I have always counted calories and I don't eat properly as I skip breakfast to save calories and wouldn't eat a couple of bananas but would eat a chocolate bar.

Sparkler1 · 16/11/2006 21:58

Right - just been to my weigh in tonight and have put on 2lbs - totally expected in fact I probably deserved to put on more.
My motivation has taken a huge tumble in the wrong direction and I need to get back on. Going to group has definitely helped and always does. I missed a week last week so that hasn't helped, although my motivation has been slipping for a few weeks now.
I went to group tonight so I haven't given up and don't plan to.
I have lots of events coming up that I would really like to lose weight for so tomorrow is a new day. I shall start writing out the food diaries again (they always help).
Have lost 9lb to date.

Sparkler, 9lbs is a fantastic acheivement, before you know it, that will be 14lbs, which is a great milestone. Just visualise yourself the way you want to be, every morning before you wake up properly and every night before you fall asleep. Notice how it feels to be your ideal weight, what do people say to you, what do you say to yourself,do you act differently, what do you say/do that you wouldnt have done when you were overweight? Go fully into the experience (we all know how powerful imagination can be) add movement into the picture along with colour and sound. I guarantee you, this will help your motivation. Good luck xx

supermumintraining · 17/11/2006 10:09

thanks xena. Have been really busy this week with work and children commitments so havent taken i what the book says and I have only started on tuesday. will take the time for myself, which is hard when you are under so much pressure.
checked weight, I know I m not suposed to, but have lsot 4lb since tuesday already and havent even completed the week!!!

Rooicosta · 17/11/2006 11:18

Go Supermum

I too struggled to get my head around being able to eat so much when I first started the plan. But it really does work!

Good luck to everyone, there has been some fantastic losses! I lost 1lb at weigh in but it is star week so hopefully will lose more next week! Fingers crossed x

supermumintraining · 17/11/2006 11:42

thanks roo. well done to you too especially as you are oon a star week. Its so hard to lose any weight and unfortunatley I have got myself into a situation where I need to lose 10 STONE, maybe more. I find it really hard to stick to any of the diets I tried in the past, but so many people have recommended this one, and reading the success on this page gives me heart to keep going. Thank you to everyone who contributes. I really find strength from reading the coments (better stop before I get too emotional!!!)

xena · 17/11/2006 13:33

So far today I've eaten
banana and yoghurt for breakfast
Bacon, egg, mushroom and a slice of bread with mayo and mustard and 1 choc little biscuit- Lunch
and I plan on doing a chicken curry for tea that was in the slimming world mag this month
So the only syn so far is the biscuit and I want to use the rest for rice with the curry.
Sound OK?

supermumintraining · 17/11/2006 20:32

from my little knowledge, it sounds good. On a green day and I have had an omelette for breakfast, a packet of bachelors savoury rice and an apple for lunch and then beans on 2 toasts and some cottage cheese for dinner. Funny thing is I'm not hungry, normally I keep thinking about what can't have, but this way everything is okay as long as I count it. Seems too simple!!!

BethAndHerBrood · 17/11/2006 21:24

Hi, I lost 2 pounds this week. I am really pleased. A few weeks ago I was really struggling to get past a certain point, but pulled myself together and now I seem to be doing quite well. I am aiming for my 3.5 stone award by christmas! Fingers crossed!!
