SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

Well done aweebitgross you must be really proud of yourself! I'm sure I must have lost a stone now, I had lost a total of 13lbs last week. I'm off to queue up with the budgies abd beagles to get on the vets scales Monday! I am wearing some trousers today that, when I bought them would not even do up, with about a 6" gulf between the button and the hole! (I didnt try them on til I got home). They are real comfy now, with just a hint of muffin-top, which will be gone by Christmas! Can any of you more experienced gals tellme how many syns in gravy granules, cos I find the syns on line very confusing on this particular item? Thanks for the password aweebitgross. Hey Strawberry, how are you doing?

worksforaliving · 11/11/2006 17:08

wayyy to go ledodgy!!!
weighed in by dh this morning and am delighted to report a 4lb loss over the week. i think i must have lost the extra 2 1/2 lbs i put on with my period plus a little extra so am v. happy.

is it possible to lose a stone by jan 16th do you think? thats my goal..
onwards and downwards all.
ps: quorn is an unnecessary foodstuff thought up to torment us all. avoid, avoid, avoid.

Rooicosta · 11/11/2006 18:46

Works - well done on your 4lb loss that's fantastic!

Lurcherlass - Make your gravy granules as directed without adding any fat. 4 level tablespoons once made up is 1 syn.

Alternatively, you could count 3.5 syns for 1 level tablespoon of gravy granules measured dry and add as much water to it as you want depending on how much gravy you like (also depends on how watery you want it! LOL!).

Hope this helps

lurcherlass · 11/11/2006 21:27

Rooicosta, thanks for that- it makes sense now, as gravy is a matter of taste and I like mine quite thick. Anyone got any tips about red day roast dinners? I weigh my parsnips and potatoes as they are not free on red. I have to par-boil them in a seperate pan and then try to keep them seperate in the roasting pan so I dont end up eating the wrong ones. Is it just easier to have your roast dinner on a green day? That way, the only thing I have to weigh is the meat before serving?? All you gals who have been doing it for ages must have this sussed!

BethAndHerBrood · 12/11/2006 21:16

Hi everyone.
I had just joined in last week then my laptop died!! But I am now up and running again (thank god!)

I lost 2.5lbs last week, taking my total loss to 3stone 0.5lb!!! The lightest I have ever been!!! (since starting s.w., obviously!)And I feel thinner than I ever remember, which is the main thing.

I read the correct info about b/f. Am amazed at how much more I can eat! It's a hell of a lot really, isn't it??!! I love coffee made with hot milk, so am having at least 2 every day now!!

aweebitgross · 13/11/2006 10:22

Well done BAHB!!!!!!!!

Sallystrawb.. how's it going with you? Isn't monday your weigh-in day?

Mumbojumbo · 13/11/2006 21:12

stayed the same this week. Want to shift 5lb before Christmas (that's 6 weeks today apparently ). Think I need to plan a menu for the week.

StrawberryMoon · 13/11/2006 21:16

well done everyone and BAHB..thats great!

i lost 1lb today, didnt deserve it but

lurcherlass · 14/11/2006 10:53

perfect10 · 14/11/2006 12:35

yeahinaminute · 14/11/2006 13:32

Hi - I need to get back in harness - did S/W last year and lost 1 1/2 stone - all but 3lbs have know stealthily crept back on my body - bit like a crack SAS troop but my class has changed and I can't get to the new one - is it any good doing it on-line?? or shall I just dig out my old info and come here for help, inspiration and a general kick up my (not insignificant) backside??!!!

intergalacticwalrus · 14/11/2006 13:35

Oooh YIAM, you can come with me (tis on a Tues morn, so probably no good whatsoever)

I lost 1.5 this week. I was shocked, as I have been to Birmingham this weekend, where I ate my own considerable body weight in biscuits.

Only another 3.5 stone to go. I have lost 1 and a half so far, so I want to do 2 stone by xmas.

yeahinaminute · 14/11/2006 13:38

Oh IGW I would but getting Roisin to pre - school and then to work in a reasonable time doesn't allow for a deviation to weigh in ... I was going to Wick on Weds evenings and she's changed it to a different time/venue - evenings are proving a prob as DH now (almost) gainfully employed again and I can't guarantee he'll be home for Roisin each and every week ( and to be sure it's a pain in the whatsits taking her as I can't stay for the talk and our lady gets a bit shirty if you don't !!)

yeahinaminute · 14/11/2006 13:39

And well done on the weight loss - i won't recognise you !!

intergalacticwalrus · 14/11/2006 13:41

I'm still fat. You'll recognise me!

I go to on in Longwell Green, where the average age is 65. DS1 just runs round like a nutter, and DS2 gets passed around all the old biddies.

StrawberryMoon · 14/11/2006 13:42

right..we booked to go to the very trendy resort of Nissi bay, Cyprus in aug next year..so..have 39 weeks and need to look about realistically(not totally) 4st to feel comfortable amongst all the models,d.j's, footballers...so 4st in LB's over 39 weeks is?....how mucha week????

StrawberryMoon · 14/11/2006 13:42

that should have said lose about 4st not 'look' about 4st!..although prob wouldnt look out of place!

yeahinaminute · 14/11/2006 14:01

1.4358974 lbs per week ( give or take ) !!

StrawberryMoon · 14/11/2006 15:37

..dya think her scales will show that working out????

so 1lb - 1.5lb a week???..hmmmmm

supermumintraining · 14/11/2006 15:42

just been to my first SW class and was not quite sure of what to make of it. I was having a really hard time keeping a straight face as the SW leader (or whatever they are called) looked just like the one in the Little Britain sketch.
Still trying to read all the info, is it as complicated as it looks? Can I eat any of the free foods anytime of the day or just at meal time? HELP!!!

StrawberryMoon · 14/11/2006 15:50

green free foods can be eaten all day on green day..red free foods can be eaten all day on red day...Majory Dawes???!!!..somebody??..anybody??...DUST!!

emzickle · 14/11/2006 16:06

how much does it cost to be a member of SW as i cant get on to the web site to look for myself?

supermumintraining · 14/11/2006 16:44

paid £9.45 today which was registration and first weeks fee. Will be £4.45 each week I think.

Thanks Stawberry, was getting confused, not that it takes much to confuse me!!!

StrawberryMoon · 14/11/2006 18:22

no prob, ive done it years ago but i remember how confusing it was and friend who comes with me now, rings me up ands asks if shes ok to have two jacket spuds on green days..people cant beleive you can eat so much!
