SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

Hello everybody! just discovered this thread and think it's brilliant, you all seem really supportive! I This is my second week at Slimming World, lost 4.5lbs in the first week, got my 2nd weigh in on Wednesday night. This diet seems to really work and so far I haven't felt too hungry. My problem is sweet things (I devoured a whole box of baby biscuits a few days ago, I was like a woman possessed, then felt really bad afterwards )Anyways, just wanted to say hi and well done to everyone!

xena · 06/11/2006 13:21

Hello girls does anyone have this weeks password pretty please?
Have had a terrible weekend Doctor has said that I have plurasy sp? and DD1 has had a high temp If it wasn't for DD2 and DS2 we would both be curled up in bed. I have made up pies and casseroles to freeze as it apparently gets worse before it gets better

xena · 06/11/2006 13:24

Sarah are you in cornwall? and whereabouts?

worksforaliving · 06/11/2006 19:04

hi sarah, welcome. although i'm pretty new here myself as you can see.
xena, i think this weeks password is parsnip...can anyone confirm?
red day today. had some prawns in thai sweet chilli dipping sauce. thought 2 syns per tsp sounded fair unless anyone has a better idea.
hows everyone else doing?

lurcherlass · 06/11/2006 21:05

I've lost 13lbs so far and I have promised myself a new frock for our Christmas do when I reach the stone lost. I like green days as I am not a big meat eater, but I do like a big plate of carbs. People are starting to comment now and ask me what diet I am following. Welcome new ladies, I'm sure you'll do well. Thanks for the password, I saw some mini mince pies in Sainsburies today and have just worked out I can have 2! The "syns on line" facility is heaven-sent!

xena · 06/11/2006 21:33

lurcherlass - I'm promising myself a new christmas outfit when I lose a stone, there are lots of people I only see at christmas and I was 20wks pg last year so I want to be slimmer this year
Thanks for the password, I would be lost without the site!

mummyjx · 06/11/2006 22:03

Hi everyone. this thread is really friendly. Has anyone done SW whilst pregnant? Was just about to start second week of diet and have had quite a surprise! Won't be telling any family yet so need to carry on as normal!!!
Good luck to everyone else for the new xmas frocks - I won't be getting one this year!!!

Mumbojumbo · 07/11/2006 08:39

Yay - lost 2.5lbs last week. Lost 2st and 0.5lbs now.

lurcherlass · 07/11/2006 13:29

well done Mumbo jumbo, what a marvellous "loss", you must be "gaining" a lovely figure now. Keep it up girls, we all deserve a new frock at Christmas, slinky (or smocky for the Mums-to-be). I had a look up the town yesterday and had a bit of a shock at the price of party frocks, so I tjink I'll end up back at my favourite ladies outfitters (oxfam) where I shall be spending £10 on the whole outfit hee hee. No point lashing out £60 for a dress, when I intend to drop another size in the new year!! What do the rest of you gals do with your too-big gear, do you alter it, or send it to Oxfam and buy something new?? Hmm, there's a dialemma....

Xena, I think you will have to borrow a frock or find an inexpensive one to tide you over the party season, then treat yourself to a new wardrobe when you have lost all the weight you plan to lose. Either that, or buy a dress with a freind whose the same size, so you can go halves and both wear it (at different times of course!). I'd be tempted to buy a lovely frock to reward yourself for all your dedication and then sell it on ebay afterwards. Go and try a few luscious ones on, to keep your enthusiasm going! LOL

Rooicosta · 07/11/2006 20:57

Hi all

Got the majority of my Christmas presents (I'm shocked believe me!) and now don't have much to concentrate on up to Christmas which is actually a bit dull! Going to my mum and dad's for Christmas lunch as always, as my mum does the best dinner ever! What's everyone else's plans?

I certainly shall not be sticking to SW on Xmas day that's for sure!

Works - my weigh in day is Monday but I actually gained 1lb this week . Haven't really started the plan properly yet though...I've only got half a stone (or so) to lose so sometimes I find it hard to get motivated. I have done good this week so far though, especially to say I have been on a Sales Course (so away from home) for the past two days. I've had mixed bean salad with new potatoes for lunch, and had mushroom stroganoff with loads of boiled rice for dinner. I know the stroganoff won't have been free but everything else was so I feel pretty chuffed at that. Could have had gorgeous cheesecake and everything...but graciously resisted!!!Ha!

I'm hoping for a definite loss this week so shall keep you posted!

Roo x

Hello again!thanks for the nice comments

Xena, I live in Newquay (Cornwall), so there's lots of pasties and fish and chips to avoid (which I love, and fresh cakes Mmmmmmmmm) Where does eveyone else come from?

xxxx

aweebitgross · 07/11/2006 21:44

CONGRATS mummyjx!!!!!!!!!!!!

And well done everyone else My weigh in is tomorrow night!

mummyjx · 07/11/2006 23:11

Hi everyone. SarahCornwall - I'm on the East Coast of Yorkshire, nearly "Heartbeat" country and definately "The Royal" area. Why are there so many fish and chip shops on the coast when you are trying to be thin (luckily I have an "issue" with our village shop - not to mention it's rubbish so not worth ruining all my hard work for - but in the local town we have two GORGEOUS restaurants...) have to go, no 2 son awake (again)... will post what I really wanted to say tomorrow

lurcherlass · 08/11/2006 13:05

Hi Sarah,my claim to fame is that I stay in Mawgan Porth every year for my hols. This year I was on the SW plan and couldnt find everything I wanted in Tesco at Padstow (good job I took my Quorn and Frylight with me!). I bought smoked haddock in Newquay for my SW kedgeree, the lady who serves in the fishmongers is really nice, she weighed exactly the amount of fish I wanted and told me her MIL had lost several stones on SW. Hey, it's a small world!

ledodgyfireworksingedmyeyebrow · 08/11/2006 16:52

Oh dear i'm dreading tonight I went out twice at the weekend (very rare occurence!) and drank loads although I didn't go over my syns I just know i've either put on or at best stayed the same. I only lost a pound last week as well.

lurcherlass · 08/11/2006 19:47

Don't be deterred Ledodgy, I have only lost a pound most weeks but I am very close to losing a stone! Keep it up, a little of what you fancy does you good! XX

ledodgyfireworksingedmyeyebrow · 08/11/2006 22:24

OMG I lost 3 pounds!!!! WTF!! I can't believe it i've now lost 2 stone and half a pound in eleven weeks. I did do the davina MCall 4 times though that must have done it am celebrating now with red wine!

ledodgyfireworksingedmyeyebrow · 08/11/2006 23:16

Also I have a top tip. I trimmed my lady garden for the first time in a year and I reckon that was a good half a pound.

StrawberryMoon · 09/11/2006 08:18

LOL..will try that!

BudaBeast · 09/11/2006 08:53

Hi all - have just signed up to SW on-line - again. And can I join you guys - again? (Tried this ages ago but didn't manage to stick to it).

Question 1 - do I need to read this whole thread???

Question 2 - Can I do SW without quorn? I can't get it here in Budapest! It seems to feature in lots of recipes or is that my imagination?

Ledodgy - congrats on your fab weight loss - saw your "I'm drunk" thread last night!! Well done.

lurcherlass · 09/11/2006 08:53

Dont forget to shave your legs and pluck your eyebrows before weighing- every little helps!!

aweebitgross · 09/11/2006 10:13

Yay!! Had 1.5lb off last night! That's 7lb in 7 weeks, am chuffed to bits!! I also signed up for a challenge to lose 7lb between now and xmas, so am geared up for that!! My MIL joined last week, and she lost 5lb in her first week!
