SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

lunavix- here are 2 of my green day "quick meals", Beanz Meanz chilli flavour on a sachet of white rice, both microwaveable, also cous cous (Ainsley Harriott spice sensation) can be done in the microwave, while you frylight a few sliced mushrooms, courgettes, peppers and tomatoes to stir through. I'd love to know what quickies you other gals are eating?

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 17/10/2006 08:10

hi all..i may need some help today, im going to do a red day!..and im crap at them!

had green yesterday with pasta in sauce for lunch, bananas and apples for snacks and two jackets with beans for tea..plus jaffa cakes for my sins..yu-u-u-mmmy!

so this morn ive had one banana and cos im rubish at red, dont want to use my he on cereal so have had 4 crab sticks!!..for breakfast!..got satays in..are they still low sins? and have chicken i can do for dinnner tonight with veggies..but all very bland?!

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 17/10/2006 08:11

oh and i set my first target for 13lb (im 16st 12, so i want to be under the 16st mark)

intergalacticwerewolf · 17/10/2006 08:28

Strawb, I don;pt do red days either, because I just want to eat spuds all the time, si I can't help you! 13lbs should be very acheivable in a short space of time too, as long as you stick to the plan (I think I lost about that in my first 4 weeks)

I have my weigh in today. I don;t think I have done very well, given the food and wine I indulged in on Sunday We shall see. It won;t be as good as last weeks weightloss anyway, which was 16lbs. (But that was because of giving birth )

evansmummy · 17/10/2006 09:38

SW sheperds pie with swede and celeriac instead of potato is good on a red day.

Or ham, cheese and pepper omelette with a cannelini bean salad (chunky chopped celery, cucumber, tomato, spring onions etc)

Otherwise mine are nearly always with HE potatoes cos the HE wholemeal pasta just doesn't cut it!!

evansmummy · 17/10/2006 09:38

Or SW quiche with bacon?

intergalacticwerewolf · 17/10/2006 11:51

Stayed the same. Balls. Serves me right for being a pig on Sunday.

Right, I am going to stick to it 100% this week.

Prob is, I am going out on Saturday night and I'd like to have a few drinkies. Should I save some syns? Not been in this situation yet really, as I have been pg since starting SW!

rhysmiamum · 17/10/2006 12:36

Hello All

Stayed same this week - gutted!! Been good too, dunno what's happened. Although I did wear a pair of size 14 trews yesterday which I haven't done for about 7 years!!! Chuffed. So still at 11st 5lbs. Must shift more!!

Good red day meal is bacon or ham omelette with new pots - easy too (I don't do cooking much!).

Well done all the losers! There must be so much weight being shed from this thread!!!

Any1 catch the password this week???

Have a good week.....

rhysmiamum x

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 17/10/2006 12:46

where do i find the sin values online?? i need to know how many chicken and turkey satays are???.i dont even see where i can enter this weeks password??

lurcherlass · 17/10/2006 16:30

Hi Gals, Id like a big moan if that's OK with you! I went to the docs today. Our practice nurse is a naturally slim person. Last year my blood pressure was a bit borderline, so as I?d lost a bit of weight I booked myself in to get it re-checked. Compared with this time last year I am 11.5 lbs lighter. Do you think the skinny mare could have encouraged or praised me, No, she just pointed out that I could do with losing more weight!
Like I don?t know that!! She didn?t ask me if I?d been dieting, I could have some ghastly wasting disease for all she knows. Last year she actually said to me ?just eat smaller portions? Hey why didn?t I think of that, the woman is a genius!! She could make a fortune advising life long chubbies to eat smaller meals!!
I was so mad at her, it spoilt my pleasure in finding out I was nearly a stone lighter than last October.grrrrrrrrr

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 17/10/2006 18:15

miserable b*tch!..her not you!..she obv has other issues about herself if she cant compliment others!

Rooicosta · 17/10/2006 19:46

Hi all

Not doing too bad on this SW plan so far - just find it hard to give up my wine! I do like the odd glass or too on an evening!! I am making sure I syn it though but deliberately under estimating!

Anyway - Strawberry - Morrisons Chicken and Turkey Tikka Satay Stick 6 pack, 20g each are 1.5 syns on red and 2.5 syns on green (that's each though). I don't know if it is the Morrisons one's you've got but it will give you an idea.
As for Red day's, I do try to have at least 2 a week just to vary what I'm eating and have ham or turkey salad on a lunch time with loads of crabsticks (pickled onions and beetroot etc, are free which helps make the salad better!) and for dinner I usually do a large chicken breast with loads of vegetables, jacket potato (HE b) and gravy (made with granuals - 1 syn per tablespoon). Yorkshire Puddings are only 3 syns too.
Other alternative's on a Red day are chicken curry (or any meat) with HEb rice/ jacket potato, or sausage, bacon, egg, mushroom and tomatoes! Plus all the other good suggestions on here!

Rooicosta · 17/10/2006 19:52

Hope this is of help when you feel as though you just need something sweet and quick at hand:

Alpen Light cereal bars (all varieties) 3 syns or 2x as and HE B choice.
Kellog's All Bran Honey & Oat Bar 5 syns or 1x as HE B choice.
Ryvita Goodness Bars (all varieties) 3 syns or 2x as HE B choice.

All small-ish but V nice and great for a quick fix! Especially good if you've got a B choice left at the end of the day and just want something while watching Corrie!

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 17/10/2006 20:15

Rooicosta

i rang consultant earlier for satays!..they arn't the tikka ones and iirc last time i was at sw, the tikka where sins but normal where free? however as it now only shows tikka, ill be a good girl and count em as those!
have been v.hungry today, have used my sins up but havent gone over!
for breakfast it was bananas and crabsticks, lunch was tuna, toms and onion in two slicces of toast with 3 turkey satays..then had a echo biscuit, dinner was half a rost chicken! with brocc, carrots and sweetcorn(forgot s.corn not free on red day!) followed by 1/4 melon, pear, nutha banana and mini party bag of buttons!...am starvvvvvvvvvvving!!..but just rememberd other packet of crab sticks in fridge!!!
and..i know, your not meant to get weighed all the time..but it looks like ive put 1/2 pound on on my scales

Rooicosta · 17/10/2006 20:35

Well done for not going over your syns - especially if you were that hungry (I'm sure I would have!). I got the Morrisons Tikka Satay's from the SW website so would assume they are right. Use Red days only when don't feel to hungry. If you have a breakfast that can work on both Red and Green days you can wait until lunch time to decide which plan to go with (If you can have a lunch that works on both, like veg quiche, then even better!). Don't forget to drink plenty of water - even if with squash - and eat plenty of fruit in between meals as this will help fill you up. Mullerlights are free on both days also which are great for a quick snack!

Try not to get on the scales all of the time as your weight will vary so much throughout the day. I can put up to 3lbs on from morning to night! And it's just water that your body naturally stores.

Keep up the good work and don't worry too much if you slip a little, especially in the early stages as it takes a while to get used to the plan!

xena · 18/10/2006 10:15

weigh in day tomorrow I am so nervous.
I've written myself a list of what I can eat during the day (always do green) and I stick to that. Most days though i'm only using 3 syns. I have always been really bad a restricting myself to just one and find it easier just not to start.
Also trying to walk at least 1.5miles a day.
I agree with the not weighing at different times of the day- i'm 3lb lighter when I first get up.

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 18/10/2006 12:01

thats why i picked a morning class! im normally the same!

lurcherlass · 18/10/2006 14:18

Thanks Strawberry! I had a giggle at "she obv has other issues about herself". Yeh, she's got no boobies hee hee hee
I've got over my huff today and bought myself some new treats, Tesco healthy eating carrot and orange slices 4 1/2 syns each and Cadbury flakes (multipack BOGOF) 7 syns yummee!!! I find it a huge help when I get my shopping home, is to get on the SW website to check out the syns. I write on the packaging with a permanent marker, so that when I dip into my larder, I know what how many syns I'm about to scoff!!

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 18/10/2006 14:48

good idea!
am going shopping friday evening so will have to dcide what im stocking up on this week!
enjoyed the crab sticks yesterday, didnt like the plain chicken and steamed veg(tasted too healthy)so will have to do the chicken wrapped in bacon stuffed with cheese thingy ive seen on here somewhere..

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 18/10/2006 14:56

just chuckling ot myself on thread about what do you weigh...on monday when i got to sw consulatant was weighing me and asked my height...6ft 5in!!!...she wrote it too, then looked up at my hefty almost 17st and 5ft 6 inch frame like erm..how do i broach this one!...i chuckled..she chuckled nervously!!..obv my sense of humour is warped or she jsut doesnt have on!
trying to joke that i was actually the right weight for my height..went straight over her head!

lurcherlass · 18/10/2006 16:50

How about some roasted veg to go with your pasta, a little fry light and a sprinkle of balsamic vinegar over some courgette, mushrooms, peppers, garlic, tomatoes, onion wedges and (my fave) aubergine, roasted on an oven tray. I love these veggies stirred through some Ainsleys spicy cous-cous..Another quickie, 95% fat free super noodles (any flavour you fancy)with a HE of prawns stirred in...lovely...I did laugh Strawberry, about your joke being 6'5". Personally, I just have extremely heavy hair... LOL

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 18/10/2006 19:45

i just about had the tomatos in to go with that!..didnt shop properly last friday as didnt know what id need..so...

had 100g of chicken pizza 13 sins
28g weight watchers oven chips ..put 2, but that sin value was for normal thick chips?, dont know if ww are better??
and a sliced tomato( see i knew id get that tomato eaten today!)

went over by one sin today! and that was the sip pf nesquick i had off dd

gunna go have some alpen and ss milk in a bit cos im finding it hard to use my HE's up??!!

evansmummy · 19/10/2006 08:33

I'd like to have more HE's in a day! Never enough!!

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 19/10/2006 08:45

nope didt eat them yesterday either just about to have some alpen and dd woke crying(c.pox and sore throat)..so went up with her and when she eventually fell asleep a couple of hours later it was about 10.30!..so still cant get em down me!

made some veg soup yesterday though, so am looking forward to that today..ama ssuming it all free? parsnip, carrot, onion, turnip, salt and water??? dont know if im on red or green..is parsnip free on red?

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 19/10/2006 11:05
