SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

Ooh, Mumbojumbo, size 12! I would have worn them inside out with the 12 label showing to the world...LOL

Thought I'd pop onto this thread and say hello. I joined SW last night again. It's been well over a year since I was a member and I really need to get back on it. I was impressed with myself as I walked to class and back which I thought was a good start on the excercise, might be no more now for the rest of the week but at least I did some !

KoshkaTheFIENDLYGhost · 13/10/2006 11:28

hi...can i join this thread?
i have joined SW after having my lo 3 months ago.

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 13/10/2006 12:12

Hi All

Never got to the class on onday, had an extra mindee so was impossible!
but this morning after walking dd to school, walking home, walking into town, walking back to dd's school one of the mums (who i know for her to be a bit cheeky) said she didnt know how i wasnt as skinny as a rake cos every time she see's me im walking somewhere!..and i said its cos i eat so many biscuits/choc instead of meals..and got me thinking!!...said i was trying to joind s.w and she said she was seriously thinking about it too...but she agreed the local one's consultant is 'not very nice', so we've made a deal...tuesday morning, well take kids to school and then she'll give me a lift to nice sw class that we both used to go to(at diff times) and we'll have a go at it together!

lurcherlass · 13/10/2006 12:20

I think it's a huge help to have a dieting buddy. My freinds who have lost several stones between them, are a constant source of support and information- Go Girl!

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 13/10/2006 12:40

thankyou..i just hope we both stick to it so as not to let eachother down!

Rooicosta · 13/10/2006 15:13

Hi, I'm new to this thread so hope you don't mind me joining. I have just started doing SW online, well started Weds officially but haven't really started doing it properly yet as had birthday's etc. I am starting it properly tomorrow though (Boyf is doing it with me too so that will help.) I am at normal weight now but need to lose about half a stone in order to feel better (it's just creeped on over the last few months!) Is the SW plan still good if you haven't got much to lose???
Strawberry - Good luck with the plan. Corned beef now has 7 syns per can but if you buy Princes LEAN corned beef that only has 4, so you can still make that lovely quiche for only 4 syns per the whole thing!

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 13/10/2006 15:16

ooh thankyou..will look in morrisons tomight!
and sw IS fine even just for a little bit of weight as your eating healthily and first few weeks will prob get you right were you want to be, then up you HE so you maintain your weight..good luck

Rooicosta · 13/10/2006 15:17

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 13/10/2006 15:18

..we're going to get along..your a lil' star

Rooicosta · 13/10/2006 15:22

How do you make your garlic sauce cos I too have a thing for crabsticks!

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 13/10/2006 16:47

either very low fat cottage cheese or quark or very low fat fromage frais...pop in a blender with one (or more if you like strong garlic) piece of garlic sliceed into tiny pieces and blend..add herbs if you like for extra flavour..but is luverly!

evansmummy · 13/10/2006 18:24

Thanks for the info ledodgywizardrobespierre. that's what i thought.

Put on half a pound this week. Not surprised though. Comfort ate all of last weekend cos I was so tired. Does anyone else do that?

Lol at wearing your trousers inside out. Love that!

Rooicosta · 13/10/2006 18:43

A lot of the recipes say make chicken stock with Bovril - does anyone know how to do that as Bovril is beef isn't it?

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 13/10/2006 19:07

i would assume that means make watery gravy with bovril to pour over chicken as in basting/browning?

lurcherlass · 13/10/2006 20:36

Apparently you can buy chicken Bovril, but I have never been able to find it!!

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 13/10/2006 22:03

yep...saw it in morrisons tonight!

moomimin · 13/10/2006 22:06

You have no idea how pleased I am to have found this. Briefly, I was a SW member when I lived in the uk. Lost just over 5 stone and even managed to get to the last 30 of the 2004 SW woman of the year finalls which were such fun. Then I fell pregnant and moved to France all at the same time in Nov 2004. I miss SW and my class so much and soooo wish SW would bring a group over here. It is the hardest thing to try to maintain without that support from group members and weekly weigh in's.

I just wanted to wish all of you all the will power in the world, when you reach target it is the best feeling ever. Just need to sort myself out now and get back on it, might give me the spur I need having found this.

BTW Lurcherlass, Sainsburys was the only supermarket I ever found chicken bovril in, Its in the same jar as the beef one but is orange instead of red. I use it all the time and have to stock up on it each time I come back. And of course fry lite.

xena · 14/10/2006 14:51

Congrat to all you guys who are losing weight
My target is 20lbs in the 10 weeks before christmas (so 2lb a week) is that realistic?

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 15/10/2006 19:42

am off to first class in morn(by first i mean the first one i was going to but changed mind, but cant go to second one cos it clashes with mindees playgroup)..anyway, ill give it a try!
went and bought alllt he spuds, beans, chicken crab sticks, vlf cot cheese from morrisons on firday..am finishing off choc in house tonnight..and am raring to go!

intergalacticwerewolf · 16/10/2006 09:16

Well, I was really good all week, until yesterday.

I ate like a pig and drank wine. Feck it.

Ah well, back on the wagon today. Going to be weighed tomorrow, so we'll see if my day of eating has made a difference. I hope not!

Mumbojumbo · 16/10/2006 20:56

0.5lb loss for me this week. Bit disappointed as I kept my food diary and was sure that I hadn't cocked up anywhere. Oh well, I've now joined the gym and did a class on Sunday and had my induction - guess there is no stopping me now! Good luck for all those weight losses this week!

lunavix · 16/10/2006 21:06

Hi everyone!

I joined SW last week with MIL, I'm 11lb overweight, and need to lose 1st11lb before I'm happy with my weight... struggled a bit as didn't have anything in the house bar fruit that I could snack on... and just eating fruit (although I love it) really makes it feel like a diet.

What things are there that are free or HE that are kind of 'prepared'? For example, babybels, ryvita minis, that bachelors pastan sauce stuff.... just want an idea of things that don't need a huge amount of prep. Thanks!
