SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

Hello,
Werll done everyone!

I have been very good this week, after a massive blowout at the weekend. I have been trying to do lots of walking, which I got out of the habit of while pregnant. Anyway, I am back to meetings on Tuesday. Hopefully, I will have lost a fair bit, given that I have just had a baby and all that! I have been (vaguely) sticking to the diet since DS2 was born, so hopefully, it will show!

Hoping to lose a couple of stone by Xmas. SW is great while bfing because I can eat an extra 4 HEs a day! I haven't stopped eating! I have also stated to get back into things I couldn't even fit into at Xmas last yaer (before I got PG with DS2) so hopefully, things are moving in the right direction.

lurcherlass · 09/10/2006 13:28

Well done! and thanks for the password Sparkler, it's so useful to be able to look up the syn values for all the foods that I sneak into my trolley. I start off thinking "I probably can't have that" to discover that, with a bit of creative mathematics, there is very little I can't have. That's what I like about this plan. Last weeks holiday through up a few challenges to the diet! It made me realise how important it was to plan, as I got caught out a few times when we wanted to eat out (all prepared sandwiches were full of mayo) and also when I couldnt buy the products I wanted (local shops had a restricted selection), so ended up compromising. How do other slimmers manage when they get hungry whilst out and about? Is is better to take your own packed lunch?

SusiSkelletonInTheCloset · 09/10/2006 16:50

we are back (spent the weekend away with way too much to eat )
and i've got the best intentions!!!

mealplanner made and shopping done
and i am eating more fruits again and i really try hard to drink more!

so here it goes ... keep the wagon rolling rolling rolling ...

evansmummy · 09/10/2006 19:46

Hi all, haven't been on for ages, but still plodding alonmg with my weight loss. Got my 2 1/2 stone award last week, which is fab. But then proceeded to have an awful weekend.

Does anyone know if on the Mix2Max plan you have to have THREE green or red meals or day, or could you have a neutral breakfast, then one green and one red meal? What about on Success Express? Would it be possible to do a neutral breakfast, then two SE meals?

Well done, btw, to everyone on the SW plan. It really does work if we stick to it!!

Mumbojumbo · 09/10/2006 22:19

Doh! 1lb on this week. Mind you, it was a baaaad week for me - DH was away and the house fell apart (literally!). Kind of lost the plot but will be going green again this week and hopefully lose next week.

intergalacticwalrus · 10/10/2006 17:13

Evansmummy, well done on your 2 1/2 stone award! I bet you are really proud of yourself!

Mumbojumbo, don;t worry about your 1lb on, You'll get that off no problem this week.

Well, I went back to my meeting today for the first time since I had DS2 5 weeks ago, and I have lost 1st 2lb! I'm well chuffed! Oh well, only another 3 stone to go!

Hope you all get on ok this week.

Btw, the password this week is LEFTOVERS

intergalacticwalrus · 10/10/2006 19:43

leftovers password doesn't work. Grrr. Lentil still works though

lurcherlass · 10/10/2006 22:37

just weighed in at the vets, pleased to see, despite my weeks holiday I have lost 0.65 kg which I think is about a pound. So far I have lost 3.6 kg which I believe is about half a stone (they don't weigh in stones). Thanks for your tips, passwords and recipes! X

evansmummy · 11/10/2006 08:37

Well don you two for your losses, it's encouraging, isn't it, when the hard work pays off!

Still no takers for advice n Mix2Max and SE??

bucksmum · 11/10/2006 10:30

Weigh in last night lost another 2.5 llbs so 2 stone 3.5 llbs in 12 weeks! which is fab.

Sorry can't help on mix to match question i stick to straaightforward red and green days

SusiSkelletonInTheCloset · 11/10/2006 12:07

i am no expert either but as far as i understand it you can decide for each meal - so yes, neutral breakfast, green lunch and red dinner sounds allright to me!

but then again you might want to ask for second advice

rhysmiamum · 11/10/2006 12:15

Hello all

Not been on for a few days....how's everyone doing??

Password this week is LEFTOVER (no 'S').

I also stick to red and green days but mix2max is when you choose a plan for each meal i.e. have a red breakfast say bacon, mushrooms, scrambled eggs, a green lunch say jacket with beans and a red tea say homemade burgers. The HEs come into it as neutral ones i.e. ones that are the same on both choices, same with syns. So with those meals above you could add 28g cheddar with the jacket and beans, a wholemeal roll with your burgers and have ryvita and laughing cow spread as a snack, also have lots of fruit. For syns you could have a freddo choccie bar for 5.5 syns and a bag of french fries for 4 syns. Just some ideas!

Success Express is where you can eat the meals you want but try and have as many speed foods and free foods as possible. So an example meal would be chicken and bacon carbonara made with quark free cheese. It's good and makes you lose weight quickly but you get bored quicker!!

Any questions just shout!

Lost 2lbs this week - pleased with that!

rhysmiamum where did you learn all that was it at a meeting? Am going to try to follow this diet but have yet to find a convient meeting.

rhysmiamum · 11/10/2006 13:58

hi Xena

I used to go to group but was just paying to weigh and then leave as my DP works shifts and I work full time and I have two little 'uns so it wasn't worth going but I went long enough to learn everything and get really into it and now keep up with it weighing myself every Tuesday morning. It works out really well. It may be worth going to just one meeting to get all the books etc (although you could get them on e-bay). I can send you some files if that would help.

It's just such a good plan and so easy to follow when you know how! Recommend it no end!

Good luck.

rhysmiamum

Xena · 11/10/2006 16:57

The book were the only reason that I was going to find a group, I'll try ebay for the books and if I cat you will you email me the file? Thanks
Do you need to join by going to a group so that you can log onto the website?

Xena · 11/10/2006 16:57

lurcherlass · 11/10/2006 19:04

Can anyone clear up my confusion? I usually go green, so my query is- If say, chicken breasts in chilli sauce is 12 syns, do you count the chicken as a HE and syn the sauce? HELP!

rhysmiamum · 11/10/2006 20:52

Yes to question about chicken - deduct 6 syns for your HE....

rhysmiamum · 11/10/2006 20:55

Xena

No probs - will e-mail you the files.

To use the online facility just join, doesn't ask much details and choose your own password, there is then a weekly one which you need to get from a class but a friend of mine goes so I'll put it on here if I know it. It's a godsend, the syns online tool is great - have a look - join up now.

Well done on all the losses everyone!!

I got weighed tonight and lost another 2.5 pounds and got slimmer of the week again! Have lost 20 pounds in 7 weeks now and am so happy. We all had to say what we wanted to lose in the ten weeks until Christmas and I sais 20 pounds so that's 2 pound a week, wish me luck.

lurcherlass · 11/10/2006 23:24

Thanks rhysmiamum, that's a marvellous help. I have been puzzling over that!!
Went to supper today with the freinds who got me started on SW, they have lost about 7 stone between them and they were full of encouragement. I ate free foods all day, then we had a red/origional 3 course meal yummee.Wore a pair of trousers that were VERY tight last time, and felt vey smart and comfortable (muffin-tops almost gone hee hee)X

evansmummy · 12/10/2006 09:08

Thanks rhysmiamum. Our consultant explained Mix2Max completely differently to how you just did! Will have to check up online... Thanks anyway for the advice. I always want to have a neutral breakfast cos with the lo i have no time to cook a red breakfast.

Mumbojumbo · 12/10/2006 09:51

I'm joining the local gym and have an induction booked this weekend. Had to buy some trackie pants and got a size 12 - how happy am I! . Feel a bit happier with the green/original bits too - didn't pay attention last week!

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 12/10/2006 10:47

We got told that for syns on mix 2 match you have to count it as the syn value of whatever has the highest syns (if the syn value isn't equal) green or red so for example if on a mix 2 match day as well as your 3 meals you decide to have Mackerel canned in oil as a snack (not sure who would but it was the first thing I turned to in my book lol) this is 0.5 syns on red but 4.0 syns on green so you would count it as 4 syns on a mix 2 Match.
As for healthy extras as long as you have one or two a choices and two B choices you can have any HE on Mix 2 Match. You can only snack on super free foods on a Mix 2match ie snacks that are free on both choices. Any snack/starter or dessert that is not free on both choices takes the syn value from the choice that has syns iyswim.
