SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Sparkler1 · 10/09/2006 08:11

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

Hi to the newbies
I've got my meeting tonight but don't feel i've lost anything even though i've been sticking to the diet.
I've just had to make some slimming world chocolate brownies as well as it's bring a dessert night tonight.
Wish me luck!

bucksmum · 04/10/2006 15:09

Hi had weigh in last night and lost another 4llbs which meakes 2 stone 1.5 llbs in 10 weeks I'm really pleased however now have no clothes that fit and look like a bag lady!

Expectantmum · 04/10/2006 17:13

Well done Bucksmum!

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 04/10/2006 21:52

Just got back from my meeting and I lost another 2 pounds so thats 17 pounds in 6 weeks, I also got slimmer of the week and slimmer of the month and won 20 odd quid!

Expectantmum · 04/10/2006 22:02

Not sure where I am gong wrong!! Have been doing SW for nearly 4 weeks and have only lost about 4-5 lbs in total!! Am sticking to it religiously but just doesn't seem to be budging. Any tips?

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 04/10/2006 22:12

Well I do all green days but don't think that makes a difference though I feel fuller and I also tend to cook froms scratch, the only processed things I have are baked beans, quorn sausages and batchelor's chip shop mushy peas. I also only syn one day a week and use them on vodka and diet coke I'm so full on a green day that I don't need any snacks apart from fruit. Good Luck.

Expectantmum · 04/10/2006 22:14

I can't green day all the time - I get so bloated on green days. I pretty much cook from scratch too - or at least try to! So do you just have a days amount of sins on that day, or so you save all your sins for the week for that one day? I have done SW before and I saved all my sins for the weekend and then the other day I was told that I shouldn't be doing this, so I usually have between 5-10 sins a day, but would rather save them iykwim.

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 04/10/2006 22:17

When I syn one night on vodka and diet coke I normally have around 5-15 syns depending on how much I drink. I also do the Davina McCall 30 min workout dvd (I do the middle workout) at least 3 times a week it's brill as it only takes half an hour and so is easy to fit in, I do it when the kids are in bed.

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 04/10/2006 22:20

I should also say that I never count Wednesday nights after my class as I see it it's my night to drink what I want and eat what I want within reason as it doesn't count iyswim. I figure that when i started the class for the first time on the Wednesday I didn't start the diet till the thursday so wednesday night is a none night with 7 whole days ahead before I get weighed next.

Expectantmum · 04/10/2006 22:35

I used to do Davina but had to do it in the mornings as I work every evening and don't get home til 11.30pm. Plus DS, who is now 16 months, just doesn't let me have the time to do that 30 min exercise anymore as I constantly seem to be chasing after him for one reason or another. I have dug out today my lateral thigh trainer as I can do that without causing too much grief with DS during the morning so intend to do that first thing every morning. Am gonna try no sins during the week and then sins on Sat and Sun, cos I do like my G&Ts! I don't attend meetings because of my job cos all the classes are evenings, so am doing this alone - thanks for your help, I'll give it a try. Its very disheartening when you hear everyone else losing so much and I am plodding at 1lb a week! Still I guess its 4 lbs in the right direction!

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 04/10/2006 22:45

A pound a week is great even carrying on like this it works out as 52 pounds in a year!

Expectantmum · 04/10/2006 22:48

Yeah but I'm sooooooooo impatient! I start a diet one day and then wonder why I'm not a size ten by the following day!! he he he My aim is to be two dress sizes smaller by May next year, when we go on our first holiday for three years, I think thats pretty achieveable, don't you? Want to lost about 2 stone. I WILL DO THIS!! Think you have done marvelously well, have just read your other thread - well done, all steps in the right direction, eh?? Anyway, my shift is about to finish and my car is waiting to take me home, so maybe I'll catch you tomorrow. Thanks again for the words of advice

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 04/10/2006 22:49

Ty. you'll deffo do it by May next year just stick at it.

Expectantmum · 04/10/2006 22:51

I will definitely stick at it, if nothing else I feel so much better for it, have never eaten so much fruit! Thanks again

rhysmiamum · 05/10/2006 13:04

Hiya SW girls! Just want to say well done to everyone, you all seem to be so keen and sticking to it so well. I have lost another 2lbs this week so quite pleased with that. Not been on my ex bike for a few days so must move the hoover from in front of it and get it back out of cupboard!! Had a lush meal last night of potato and spring onion frittas with baked beans - totally free on green. Yum.

Anyone catch this weeks password???!! cheers x

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 05/10/2006 13:52

Expectantmum, are you actually expecting now?..if so, you shouldnt be loosing anymore than this, your fatty deposits are keeping your baby warm.

if you arn't with child..you say you on lots of gren day..i used to do this but found having a red day the day i was weighed is better as green generally means heavy jacke spuds etc..one evening when i used to go i had stuck to it like glue and put on 1lb?????not realising 3 hours before, id had the king kong of jacket spuds with beans = very heavy food!...the following week after sticktin to it again..id lost 6lb..it had come off that week but the food id eaten before class was too heavy to digest soon enough IYKWIM

dizzymeg · 05/10/2006 14:59

Just been to class, as promised... It must be the smallest class in history, only 5 of us stayed and only about another 5 got weighed.

The word this week is Lentil. Apparently it was this a couple of weeks ago, so they are starting to go backwards (or so the girl taking the class says).

Things have changed a lot since I last went. You can now "mixand match" and "success express", both of which sound too good to be true.

Was quite pleased with what I weighed. Thought I'd be heavier than that, but I have about 3 stone to lose before I'll be happy.

Fingers crossed to lose at least 2 stone before January !!!!! Uniform to fit into !!!

Had better go and empty the cupboards of all the naughty stuff so I;m not tempted.

rhysmiamum · 05/10/2006 15:10

You can do it Dizzy, especially by January. Mix to Max is a good plan although I'd rather stick to red and green becuase I confuse myself trying to mix them! Success express is quite limited becuase you have to eat lots of free speed foods which are pretty boring but if you need a boost it's good.

Keep some naughty things in your cupboard as rewards you can count as syns! If you need some recipes and things I can send you some?

Thanks for password.....!

Hi Straw - no not expecting (DS is 16 months), just not sure how to change my name!! I am doing SW alone because all the classes are evening ones and I work evenings and so can't get there. I try and alternate one day green, the next red. You're probably right though, about the weight of the food, and I always get soooo bloated and full of wind (sorry if tmi!) by the end of the day on a green. I try to eat free foods until my evening meal, so am eating loads of fruit and yogshurt etc. I will stick at it. I tried on some trousers today that before now I struggled to get done up, and today and they up nearly perfectly, so something must be happening, albeit very slowly. I am just very impatient! I do feel much better for it, and am now trying to fit in some exercise too, which is difficult because my DS just wants to jump all over me! Thanks for the tips though and I am definitely gonna stick at it. My aim is to fit into these trousers and have them loose by the end of the month! Wish me luck!

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 05/10/2006 19:43

Expectantmum..firstly, go to 'your registration' at the top of the page, enter your setails and when your info comes up inc you user name, change it to something you want and submit!

next one..so you have 'lost' inches as well as weight which is fabulaous! and you sound like your doing it wel..just mae sure all the yogs etc are what you think they are ie:sin free..and i know what you mean about the wind!.pppaarp!
so if your weighing yourself is it at home or boots or somewhere?..make sure you get weighed same place each time(im lighter on ours in bedroom than in bathroom??!!) and again even just for yourself, have a lighter meal day on your weighing day, youve still eaten so its prob more to your true weight then!..keep it up your doing well

Expectantmum · 05/10/2006 20:16

Yes, my yoghurts are all the Mullerlight sin free flavours only! Yes, I weigh myself at home on electronic scales in the bathroom, I know what you mean about having a light meal, the only problem with that is that I always weigh myself first thing in the morning, so I should be at my lightest!! I did try weighing myself at my local Boots, the only problem with that is that I found I couldn't get there some weeks and so I started weighing myself at home. I find I don't get so bloated if I can eat my dinner before about 7pm, this evening I had to have it at 7,45 (jacket spud with tuna (HE)) and now I feel so bloated again. Am hoping 30 minutes on the old lateral thigh trainer every morning will help, I can but try

Overtiredmum · 05/10/2006 20:19

And Strawberry - thanks for the advice on change of name - as you can see I am no Overtiredmum instead!

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 06/10/2006 08:28

..yep, know how that feels

Sparkler1 · 06/10/2006 09:15

Hi! One pound off for me last night - not much but I did get my half a stone award!! Very pleased with myself. Have put a pair of jeans on today that I haven't worn in ages. Still a bit tight but I didn't have to lay on the bed to put them on like before.
Password this week is LENTIL.
