Hi, following on from the lose a stone and half thread those of us with more weight to shift (me!) would like to carry on

Is there anyone out there to join?

I will go first

I have reached my Easter target and I would like to lose between 7 and 12 pounds ready for the summer (I may lose more in the autumn but I don't see the point if I can't maintain it)

I have let things sill a bit so my intention is to calorie count as I did before with no chocolate or alcohol from Tuesday for a few weeks. Then I will relax the choc and booze rule Grin

Errrmmmm!!!! Not so much..had sandwich and crisps and will pinch some chips from the children

Not at jury service tomorrow so hopefully will try for a bit of a fast day, either that or weigh in tomorrow, get depressed, think fuckit and eat my body weight in chocolate. Haven't decided yet Grin

Not sure how that 16:8 works, must need to calorie count as well...I can really put it away in eight hours Grin

So with 5:2 are you supposed to calorie count on the non fasting days too? If not, how long until you noticed a difference on the scales?

RufusTheReindeer · 15/06/2014 10:18

In January I counted calories, I also cut down on bread

I ate under 1200 for 5 days a week and 500-600 on two days and I lost weight, which with the exception of a pound or two which goes off and on I have kept off

I think with 5:2 that a lot of people make good food choices on their eating days, like a skinny friend who only eats half their cake and says they are full or only eats one biscuit

When I have looked on the 5:2 threads people who say they are not losing weight are often hold to keep an eye on their diet the rest of the week

I think 5:2 is something a lot of people have done for years, fast and famine. I also think that some people can eat normally and use the fast days to lose the weight and do really well, others (like me) use the non fast days as treat days and don't do quite so well Grin

Gained a pound on Saturday, not too unhappy as I have my period on and last week was a bad week! Yesterday was very treaty, going to have my planned (not very healthy) tea and eat lightly for the rest of the day. Going to try and cut down on bread this week and try and eat under 1200 calories.

I would like to lose 7 pounds by the 9th of August, should be doable if I stop titting around!!!

How has your week gone so far bunny

BunnyPotter · 15/06/2014 19:43

That's interesting Rufus, thanks.

Well, I did decently on my fast days last week, but today is..was..another and I've given up counting! My 2.5 yr old DS ran off on the beach today and we couldn't find him. Searching everywhere and after initially thinking he'd be in certain places then finding out he wasn't, it was very stressful. Scouring the shore, looking on the road, in restaurants. I don't know how long it was, but it was long enough to think of all the worst scenarios!!

He was fine and we found him and all was ok.

But for an emotional eater, that was a big trigger! Then we had people for afternoon tea and I succumbed to two scones with jam and clotted cream (normally I can't even stand cream!). I'm counting it as a fast day, as that's all I've eaten, but it's definitely well over 500 cals (each scone alone was 260). In the bigger picture, it's insignificant, but when I think of the family photos in going to have to be in in little over a month, where ALL the other mothers (and grandmothers) are size 8-10s, well, I'm going to not think about it!

Will do more calorie counting on non-fasting days I think. Sounds like it might help!

How was your weekend?

RufusTheReindeer · 15/06/2014 22:36

bunny

Deffo do the calorie counting, it's a learning experience if nothing else

So sorry you lost your little one, happened to us at Weymouth beach with my youngest who must have been the same sort of age. Very scary for you!!!!!!

I wouldn't worry about going a high over on a fast day, jus think of what you would have eaten if left to your own devices!

As weekends how it's not been too bad but definitely treaty...huge tea today! Will try and keep to 1000 for the next few days..MFP is your friend Grin

Hope your day is better tomorrow, just staple him to you...that should work Smile

I'm still here, since I got my scales I weigh too often and get disheartened so have decided to only weigh one day probably a friday. current weight 13.1 it's driving me mad not being able to get under 12! keep going up and down but never under. went shopping yesterday stocked up on fruit and stuff. bought a different exercise DVD as I'm a bit bored of my old one. how are you all

RufusTheReindeer · 20/06/2014 19:51

Hey super-

Not bad, I have not been good over jury service but it finishes on Monday

My new plan is to count calories from Sunday and try to behave on Monday, I keep having crisps and sandwiches and then eating a rubbish tea!!! Doh!!!!

Weighing once is a good idea, I weigh on a Saturday but i might skip tomorrow Blush I gained a pound last week and I've probably gained the same this week

How did you do today?

storynanny2 · 20/06/2014 20:09

Rufus, keep out of those nice local tea shops! I had a very very small slice of my OH large slice of Father's Day cake at Breezes last week.
I have finally reached my first target after 3 months of 1000 calories a day. First target was to get back to what I weighed before I had child number 3 ( he is 22 years not months old) second target is to get to a size 12 by end of July for 2 weddings. Then I have a third target, that by the end of August I will weigh what I did before I had child number 1 who is 32.
Oh well, I can dream! My main problem always is keeping it off and not spoiling the good work.

RufusTheReindeer · 20/06/2014 21:40

story ssshhh don't tell anyone but I was at the T Room in Lee on Wednesday

But in my defence it was the first time in two weeks due to this bloody jury service!!!!!

Well done on hitting your target!

I will never get back down to pre ds1 weight but I might manage to get down to pre ds2!! (He was 11 at the end of May!)

It's good to have a target and you seem very determined. My target is down to 10,12 by the time I go on holiday in August and down to 10,5 by Christmas

That's doable surely!!

I like Breezers now it's changed hands but I am boycotting Costas

OP posts:
storynanny2 · 20/06/2014 22:01

I'm determined this time as I am now 57 and it definitely is harder to lose weight as you get older. I am only 5'2" and don't want to be short plump nanny!
How to avoid the Tenth Hole though next time we walk along Southsea seafront......
Cake is my downfall

storynanny2 · 20/06/2014 22:06

I read somewhere, possibly on this forum, that it was a good idea to have weigh in day on Monday so as to keep you on track over the weekend.
I have been doing Saturday but might swap to Monday for the next step.
I chose Saturday because..... Not having children at home or work I could lie in and weigh as late as possible in the morning after a wee and before breakfast!!

RufusTheReindeer · 20/06/2014 22:11

story-

Similar reason to me, but I also felt that I could have Saturday as a treat night Grin

I agree with the weighing in Monday bit, I just need to get my mojo back moving forward from Sunday and maybe I will try that for the last few weeks

OP posts:
supermariossister · 22/06/2014 15:20

changed weigh day to Monday, good thinking guys! not doing well but not putting any back on either need to step up my exercise aside from just walking

RufusTheReindeer · 22/06/2014 20:03

Heysuper hope it works for you

I am determined to have a better week as I gained another pound!!!

OP posts:
supermariossister · 22/06/2014 20:07

sure you will Rufus, it's been so hot last few days so doing well on the water front. how's things?

RufusTheReindeer · 22/06/2014 20:21

Not bad, just helped DH finish his Father's Day maltesers!!!

Still on jury service tomorrow but hopefully then it's over. Going to try and be good, sandwich at lunchtime maybe a latte in the am. Coffee when I get home and fish and salad for tea.

Trying to throw in a fast day or two as well if I can get out of having the sandwich (while deliberating) then I will, then that will be a fast day

I got DH to go in the attic because it thought there might be some "small" summer clothes up there. There aren't any but it was quite satisfying trying on some of my "fat" clothes Grin

Have you had a good weekend?

OP posts:
supermariossister · 22/06/2014 22:04

up and down, satuarday was rather boring but I got lots done in the garden so that was good took ds and dn swimming today which was good came back and the bloody dog has headbutted a hole in the fence whilst we have been in and out the garden this afternoon luckily neighbours been great about it and dp has managed to fix it and block it off but am bloody raging with the dog!

RufusTheReindeer · 28/06/2014 18:16

Lost a pound this morning

Bit of a naughty day but back on MFP tomorrow and going to go on the rower Hmm

Only five minutes then I might try and do some sit-ups or something

I want to lose 7 pounds by the 10th of August, so I need to pull my ginger out

It's funny but although I have only gained 2/3 pounds since Easter I feel really fat again

OP posts:
supermariossister · 29/06/2014 08:59

you sound like you have got a plan which is good Rufus, I know what you mean about the pounds makin a difference, I want to be 5lb down by mid august as back to doctors then.
sorry I've not been around I am with sky broadband but bt open reach have been doing work on the lines and have severed my line so they are trying to repair it. it's been off for a week now so I can't get on much. how is things?

RufusTheReindeer · 29/06/2014 09:22

Not too bad, had a bit of a stressful week and comfort ate ( a bit)

Do you find that you have been eating well while losing weight or are you a big like me as I think I will bring in healthy eating once I am at target?

By that I mean I will skip a meal or have a fast day which might not be the best way to stay healthy (especially as I don't have breakfast and will consider and slice of cake and a coffee as a meal Blush)

How are you? Good week? Are you planning on saying on here til August?

I may start a new thread after the holidays and run it til Christmas and then another one jan til Easter until I've lost all the weight I want to

OP posts:
supermariossister · 29/06/2014 12:54

my target is about three stone away so I'll be here as long as anyone will have me! I don't really eat healthily in terms of I will rarely have breakfast. I like most vegetables bit fussier on fruits but still like enough of them. I've been drinking a lot more water as I used to drink fizzy pop constantly so having lime juice if I get bored of water. it's going to take me a long time of learning to eat better though so definitely not a quick option. I am the same and would consider coffee and a cake at eleven despite having no breakfast and being up since 6! never been a breakfast person really. I'd be happy to keep on with a new thread :) hows things other than in the diet world, everything good?

Talea · 29/06/2014 15:09

Hi, I'm new here. Joined as I really need help losing weight. I lost a stone and a half last year but I've been the same weight for a year now and I've got another stone to lose. Can't seem to shift it. I don't really know why. I really want to lose half of it before 12 August so I need some advice and some suggestions please on how to break out of this plateau. I walk about 2 miles a day 4 days a week and I try to do some kind of exercise most days.

RufusTheReindeer · 29/06/2014 20:21

Hi talea

Welcome to the thread, good on you with the excercise! That will be good for toning

I find that I don't lose any weight with excercise, it's all food with me which is unfortunate as I have just eaten a bread roll and butter

Doh!

How are you eating? Have you tried the 5:2 which seems to work for an awful lot of people?

super

My daughter was in her Saturday drama club show today. We enjoyed watching it this afternoon and according to my friend she stole the show this evening..god knows what she has done, she may actually have stolen something Grin

OP posts:
supermariossister · 01/07/2014 13:31

well done to your daughter Grin. I love drama I wish mine were into a club or a certain hobby they kept up!. better few days less snacks put on 2lb but didn't gave a good week last week and did no exercise other than walking so I was expecting it. feeling a bit down with summer coming up again me and ds always spent much of summer with mum and this last summer seemed to be lots of "if nanna was here we would be" moments. feeling shitty lately and wishing I had my mum to talk too but we crack on eh. how are things with everyone and welcome as well sorry I can't type name I'm on phone so can't read back posts. there is mostly someone around to chat to here and encourage or comiserate with Grin

RufusTheReindeer · 03/07/2014 18:55

Hey super

Those moments of IF are shitty aren't they. I often think I would be a different person with different children if my mum was still alive

Hope it's not too hard for you Thanks

I have had a poo week as well! I am doing that self sabotage thing I do, I need to stop it!! I'm afraid to get on the scales this week, my tummy is so bloated because I'm mainlining bread again!

I have a lovely friend who said today (again) that I was very slim and didn't need to lose any more weight, I'm the size of a fucking house still!!!
I don't know if she is trying to be helpful but it doesn't feel like it!

We are all fine, end of term stuff like year 6 leavers party, year 6 play, year 10 work experience!!! I'm looking forward to the holidays!!

Hope you have a better week, if I am brave enough I will weigh on Saturday, trouble is I am already feeling pissed off with myself...if I have proof I'm a fucking idiot will that push me over the edge Grin
