52 weeks to lose 52 pound. Anyone in?

TotallyAddictedToLurking · 26/12/2013 19:58

I am 4 stone over weight and it's making me very unhappy. I've been saying I'll lose weight for the last two years! Instead I've just gotten fatter.

I know most people don't keep up their new years resolutions but I am hoping having a thread on here will help.

If anyone is interested please feel free to join me. I will be using weight watchers but I would love anyone to join.

I intend to start on Jan 1st. I've bought
a nice diary to write my food in.

I'd love it if people could share meal plans and recipie ideas.

I'm in, I need to lose about 9 stone.

I have lost 9 stone already (it was 10 stone but I've put 1 back on since having dc4)

I will be kicking off on January 2nd and for the first month I am giving up chocolate, crisps and fizzy drink all together (my 3 major weaknesses).

I'm in. I have more than 52lb to lose but that seems like an achievable start to not put too much pressure on me.

Is there an agreed weigh in day?

I will be low carbing (mainly because I want to sort out my skin too)

I'm in!

I have about 6 stone to lose. I weigh more now than I did 14 months ago when I had my dd. Too much cake eating during maternity leave!

I'm thinking of using myfitnesspal.

I'm in, really need to lose 1.5lb a week but 1lb will be a good start.

I had a hysterectomy this year so need to work on my fitness too

I'll be using my fitness pal, eating healthy food with slimming world tendencies. If I don't shift the weight I'll be considering one of the VLCD.

I'm starting on Jan 6th and will be giving up alcohol and chocolate.

Loads of people! Yay! For those having trouble with MFP, if you put a user name in the "add via email" box, it will work. For some reason this isn't obvious at all, but it is the quickest way :-)

I don't want to give out my user name as it will certainly out me IRL and I don't want anyone there to know that I'm doing this... I've had pointed comments (why DO people do that?!?) so this time I'm doing it all myself.

I'm in. I need to lose 4st officially but if I lose that I won't look like me. I'll be happy with 3. I'm 14st and 5'4" and just had my first baby 14 weeks ago.

I weigh 3lb less than when I got pg so a great place to start!

I'm in. I got 5 stone to lose. Big birthday this year too and want to treat myself. Lost 2 stone on ww a while ago but 2 babies later gained a lot more. Going to buy a lovely food diary and work from there

I need to do this. I think 52lbs in 52 weeks sounds great!
5:2, hot yoga and swimming for me
I need to do this gently, have had a v stressful 2013 and need to do this without putting pressure on myself to have quick or dramatic results. Hopefully good for my mind too.

Does anyone have any good exercise tips? I really struggle for time when it comes to exercise, but I'm thinking of using the 7 minute workout app on my phone and also starting the Couch to 5k plan.

My myfitnesspal username is Alibialibi. I'll try adding other people if I can get it to work!

I'm in too. This HAS to be my year. I must get my head around this.

I'm 4 stone overweight. I've flirted with 5:2, Slimming World, Couch to 5k and eating mindfully this past year. I lost a bit but never stuck to anything for longer than a month or so. I keep self sabotaging. I have no idea what's up with my head. I may even consider counselling for this.

I think I'll be doing Couch to 5k and eating mindfully/smaller portions.

I want this so much. Everything else in my life is great. It's just this is on my mind at all times and it's ruining my enjoyment of thingsHmm

I'm in! Doing 5:2 and want to try the 'Couch to 5k' to see if I can find the love for running I used to have!
Are we weighing in on Mondays?!

I've added everyone so far, once you have accepted me you should be able to see others on my friends list and add from there?

Any tips for conquering the kids leftovers trap

It's one of my biggest pitfalls...

Couch to 5k and 30 day shred for me on the exercise front. Done both before, but hopefully this thread will give me motivation to continue for more than 2 weeks...

I get weighed on a Tuesday morning so I'll add mine then if that's ok. I joined a gym a few months ago and have been once. Best dust it off again! I'm 5'2'' and about 13 stone.

52lb in 52 weeks is a REALLY GOOD target.
And delighted to see that several of you are planning to use 5:2

do, please read this thread
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/fasting_diet/1581821-Tips-and-links-for-those-practicing-Intermittent-Fasting-IF-5-2-or-Alternate-Day-Fasting-ADF
as it has lots of ideas

and remember that the Mumsnet threads on 5:2 predate ALL of the websites, books and products.

Important hint about Myfitnesspal
Do not add back any calories from exercise. Ever. At all.
Because we are all prone to under estimating food and over estimating exercise.
If you get into the habit of 'allowing extra' the magic will not work.

Oh yeah - and each of you take a selfie today - full body in front of the mirror.
Because many of the ladies and gents on the 5:2 threads who have done really well do not have proof of where they came from.
This time next year you'll have the proof of the lack of pudding Xmas Grin

I can do Monday weigh in too :)

Can I be really boring and suggest that you might want to switch your weigh ins to Friday ....

as its easier to be strict all week and relax at the weekend - so you weigh in on a high note, not the day after Sunday Roast Xmas Wink

Oh wow I haven't RTFT yet but I'll come back later and have a read.

I weigh in on a Tuesday but that's ok we can all weigh whenever. I'm just happy that we can all keep each other company and on the straight and narrow Grin
