I am 4 stone over weight and it's making me very unhappy. I've been saying I'll lose weight for the last two years! Instead I've just gotten fatter.

I know most people don't keep up their new years resolutions but I am hoping having a thread on here will help.

If anyone is interested please feel free to join me. I will be using weight watchers but I would love anyone to join.

I intend to start on Jan 1st. I've bought
a nice diary to write my food in.

I'd love it if people could share meal plans and recipie ideas.

YouAreMyRain, I used to run too. In fact, I loved running. I'n not sure what happened and why I stopped but I gained two stone since I stopped.

chubby I'm 5'1/5'2 too and started off at 12.5 stone. I've lost some now but it's made such a difference to my life. Need to get back on track. You can do it.

I'm doing my first fast day today on 5:2. Not sure how this is going to go - I love my food. Which is, of course, why I'm 4stone overweight...

Not sure running on an empty stomach is a good idea, so will save dusting off the trainers for tomorrow. Except we have family staying this weekend, not sure if it would be rude to go for a run while they are here? Either that or SIL will want to come with me and she is disgustingly fit and runs 50km mountain races etc. I would have no chance!

2 boiled eggs for breakfast. No croissants or toast

I've added those on MFP who put their usernames up :-)

I do not have any scales in the flat, so I guessed pretty high- will get myself a set in town.

Me too.

I weighed myself yesterday and I am 12.7. I'm only 5.4 so I definitely need to lose at least 2.5 st. Or 35lbs.
I would love to be 9st 12 before my next birthday.

That would be amazing!

I'm in - I lost loads of weight when I was pregnant (was too fat anyway) and I looked and felt great! Now I've put it all back on again and feel like shit :(
The evenings are my main downfall though, I'm a LP and when the DTs have gone to bed I just veg on the sofa and eat. I'm going to have a look at the 5:2 and make a resolution to not buy or eat any more rubbish starting Jan 2nd.

The only way I have managed to add people is if someone has requested me first, then look on their new friends list. You can see them and click on their name to request them. Otherwise I can't do it. Xx

For those having trouble adding people, in the bit where it says 'add with email address', you can type the user name in the email address box and that works.

I'm another one trying to lose weight this year. I don't have a working pair of scales so don't know how heavy I am. I have a lot of flab where I have had three kids and have had a lot of health problems.

I can't get out to a gym or run so we've bought an elliptical trainer and hope to use it each day as well as change what we eat. I've just been to sign up for Weight Watchers as it is free membership for a while but it still costs £60 for three months. Can anyone tell me if it is worth the money and will it be worth the £80 in three months?

We both work and I use my slow cooker a lot as it is late when I get in and I quite often feel too tired to cook a meal.

Count me in, 2014 is the year I am going to do it.

Right, we're joining too! I've allowed the weight to creep on over the last 14 years, compounded by stressful years of infertility. Now got a 5 year old and lost weight having him, but went back to work and the spread continued!

Hubbie has finally admitted he has a tummy too, so 2 pronged attack here!

This thread is really motivating me...!

Which day will we "weigh in"?

I think I've added everyone on MFP. As mentioned above, where it says enter email you can just add username instead. It's not very clear.

Can anyone recommend a decent fitness DVD? There are so many and do not know where to start....!

Youarejust, if I remember rightly the WW members website is very handy- you can enter your foods and it works out the points for you. There's an app too that syncs with website. I likes it when I was a member, but that was a while ago now.

God I need help, I'll join! I even gave in this year and bought big clothes and now I've out grown them! I made a real effort for a few months earlier this year. I developed fitness and tone but didn't loose a single pound and found it really demotivating.

Oops, don't know how I posted twice!

I've just reread the thread. I can't do the 5:2 or run so those are out. I'll check out mfp, sw and ww as well as bob Harpers jumpstart to skinny. I'm going to check out classes at my local community centre, get some scales and I've decided to keep this a secret. I don't need the world watching my struggle so the support here will be invaluable.

My weight gain came from 3 miscarriages and the resulting depression. I am now old, fat, childless... I can only change one of those so here goes.

As for someone asking for DVD recommendations I found the 30 day shred really god for getting fitness levels up quickly.

Purchased my weightwatchers mag and found out the class times for the meetings. But will start my diet on 2nd Jan. Going to rejoin gym and become the gym bunny I was 2 yrs ago. Did go spinning @6.45 am this morning and feel better for it. Can't wait to get back in my size 10/12 clothes again.

Grrrr. Maybe I should tell DH when I'm supposed to be fasting as I got back from town to find he'd scooped up all the leftovers and made another roast turkey meal.

Reader, I'm afraid I ate it all as my willpower is not that strong.

Mental note to self, notify chef when meals not required...

We have family coming this weekend as well, meal plan says turkey, leek and ham pie tomorrow and some sort of baked risotto on Sunday. Back to work on Monday.

At least I only had 2 eggs for breakfast, not 4 slices of thickly buttered toast, orange juice and the kids leftover porridge... Can anyone take a wild guess as to why I'm 4 stone overweight LOL!

So, no tea for me tonight as I think I've eaten all today's calories, but on the plus side I might charge my Garmin and dust off the running shoes for tonight seeing as I've actually eaten food today.

Count me in. Off to buy new scales as old ones are madly unreliable (step on and off and back on and weight can change by 10lbs!). Need to lose around 6 stones I think. (GULP).
I hit 50 in Jan 2015 and I am not going to fat and fifty.
