I am 4 stone over weight and it's making me very unhappy. I've been saying I'll lose weight for the last two years! Instead I've just gotten fatter.

I know most people don't keep up their new years resolutions but I am hoping having a thread on here will help.

If anyone is interested please feel free to join me. I will be using weight watchers but I would love anyone to join.

I intend to start on Jan 1st. I've bought
a nice diary to write my food in.

I'd love it if people could share meal plans and recipie ideas.

Hi all. Realise that I am late to the party, but really need the support and could do with shifting some pounds. Lost about 4 stone 8 years ago, but regained about a stone since. Can I join in please? Will weigh tomorrow am for a starting weight.

HugAndRoll · 21/01/2014 23:07

All are welcome at all times as far as I'm concerned and I'm sure everyone else agrees.

I changed my weigh day to a Friday, lost 2lbs last week and have my fingers crossed for another loss this Friday. Shred level 2 had better make a difference Grin.

DearPrudence · 21/01/2014 23:10

Of course you can join Rupe. Welcome Smile

I went a bit out of control this past week, so was expecting bad news, but was pleased to still lose a pound.

Official weigh in
Week 3: -1lb
Total: -5.5 lbs in 3 weeks

slimsoon · 22/01/2014 03:57

Wednesday weigh in.
1/1/14 -21lbs
22/1/14 -206 1bs

half stone off ! I am treating myself to a pedicure !

Keep it up ladies - you are really inspiring me.

slimsoon · 22/01/2014 03:57

oophs
1/1/ should have been 213 lbs

Rupeomatic · 22/01/2014 08:12

Thanks all!

OK starting weight is 13 st 7 lbs. It seems I have put half a stone in the last two months, so I must have eaten a whole lot more at Christmas than I thought! I also need to make time for exercise, which is a challenge, but I have become very good at making excuses for not moving. So, this morning will be going for a run before starting work and then booking some exercise into the diary. That's the plan anyway.

Have a good day everyone - and thanks for inspiring me while I was lurking Grin

OpposableThumbs · 22/01/2014 14:07

Welcome Rupe

My weigh in today. Another 1.5lb off this week so 5.5lbs in total. I'm liking that I have a few lbs banked incase I go off the rails later.

peanutbutterandbanana · 22/01/2014 17:47

Wednesday is my weigh in day and I've dropped 3 lbs this week (week 2) so am dead chuffed. That's 6lbs off in 2 weeks. Beginner's luck I'm sure.

roosterroo · 23/01/2014 17:24

Fast day today anybody else? Going ok, have treated myself to some yankee wax tarts and lit the woodburner as its cold!

TalkinPeace · 23/01/2014 17:36

I'm fasting too .....DH just pointedly asked when supper would be!

how are people doing?
Is everybody still being strong?
Any good "non scale victories"?
( like compliments, or clothes fitting better, or stairs easier to climb? )

HugAndRoll · 23/01/2014 18:58

My nsv today was doing all of the oblique twist on shred level 2 without stopping. Waiting until I can do all the plank work without stopping, my arms and shoulders are so weak.

Weigh day tomorrow, let's see how that goes...

roosterroo · 23/01/2014 19:34

Don't know if this is a compliment or not! Dh asked has your bum got smaller I reserve judgement Smile

Racheyg · 24/01/2014 12:48

3lbs off!! At least I have finally lost all that Xmas weight and 2lbs more : )
Got to keep motivated and disaplined if I want to lose 3 stone for my sons birthday in July xx

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 24/01/2014 13:19

I ended up delaying my start due to low willpower and greediness but last week I lost 4.4lbs and this week only 0.5lbs. Really disheartened as I worked really hard last week. Had a few blips but overall I thought I was doing okay.

Maybe I'm estimating wrong and am actually consume far more calories than I think I am. I find mfp tedious but I guess it's necessary as I should start loging instead of guessing.

Just ate a whole packet of onion rings crisps because I was so demotivated. Haven't had a morning run today either and I've got a full schedule for the rest of the day so really need to be firm and find a slot to squeeze a workout in.

justonemorecake · 24/01/2014 16:54

I'm doing ok. It's been a really tough week at work and with dd, so I am quite proud of myself that I have stayed restrained on my non-fast days and stuck to my two fast days. With everything that's been going on I would normally have binged on comfort food.

It isn't my official weigh until Monday, but I can tell I won't have lost much. That's ok though, as long as I either maintain or go down a little bit.

I hope everyone else is doing well.

HugAndRoll · 24/01/2014 18:28

Today has gone out of the window. Ds1 received his hfa/aspergers diagnosis today. We are relieved and feel weird in equal measure. Dominoes tonight, back on it tomorrow.

TalkinPeace · 24/01/2014 19:36

Hugandroll
see if you'd said champagne I'd have cheered you on, but dominos is sugar / salt laden shite : the ingredients cost less than 1/4 of what you pay

I don't want to be mean, but the vast majority of "delivery" food is just so bad for you

if possible go for a local independent : the dough is less likely to be made overseas (yes really) let alone the "fresh copped veg" from South America

go get a £5 bottle of cava from Lidl tomorrow (luff that stuff) and really celebrate

HugAndRoll · 24/01/2014 20:40

I don't like their pizza so "just" have the cheese dough balls. Not the best but it's ds1's choice.

Applesnotcakes · 24/01/2014 20:44

thedietstartstomorrow . I find MFP a bit tedious too but it get easier the more you do it and having friends on it to comment and like to each other makes a huge difference to being motivated to do it. And it does help you learn about what you're eating so I kind of feel its worth the pain

rachelg well done! Great stuff. It's encouraging when you lose. And good to get the christmas weight away. And hopefully the losing weeks will carry you through the less successful weeks. 3 stone is a lot but people have done it so why not you. Go for it!

justonemorecake good fr you hanging on in there in a tough week.

And hug I can imagine the diagnosis is a mixed emotion thing but i suppose now at least you know a bit more where you are. But hugs to you and your DS.

I'm hoping for a reasonable weekend, with a bit of exercise time and a good weigh in Monday. Last weekend was fun but involved a bit too much indulgence. Low level indulgence this weekend.

alphablock · 24/01/2014 20:59

I've been lurking for a while. I have lost 46lb since June and want to lose another 58. My non-scale victory is that I managed to remove my engagement ring and wedding ring yesterday which have been stuck on my fat finger for nearly 10 years. I was so excited, even though I had no reason to remove them and just put them back on a few seconds later. I was just so thrilled to have proof that even my fingers are getting smaller!

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 24/01/2014 21:46

Applesnotcakes Yes, it's true, what you say. I guess part of the reason I've been reluctant to log is because deep inside, I know it's not going to look good. But better to face it then hide it somewhere. I've decided to log todays and have eaten almost 2000 calories. It's no wonder I didn't lose anything last week.

alphablocks I love the ring moment. I've had that too. :) Hardly any of my rings fit anymore but I'm happy about it. I'll get them fixed soon.

loopybear · 25/01/2014 08:58

It's good to see so many losses.
Have to say mpf has made me realised that I'd seriously got portion distortion. Changed one of my fast days this week (I usually do Monday and Tuesday but did Monday and Friday this week) I was very irritable last night, which I've not been on a fast day before.

BrokenButNotFinished · 25/01/2014 10:06

I'm always irritable on a fast day! And often emotional too.

Thursdays are better than Tuesdays though. Not sure why that is.

Applesnotcakes · 25/01/2014 12:07

by the way alpha, that is a fantastic loss! well done you!

lifesgreatquestions · 25/01/2014 12:36

I'm late checking in as usual, but I just wanted to say that home made ramen is great and you can control the salt content - you can also get low salt soy sauce. I've made a few dinners of this over the last week, salmon, broccoli and mushroom, yum!

I'm not weighing in this week. The two days leading up to my period and 3 days into it were a complete write off. I even gave up noting my diet into MFP as it was ridiculous, two snickers and 5 chocolates over the time period as well as lots of bread etc. So, not being one for self punishment, I have decided that I will have a write off week each month, BUT I have introduced the 5/2 to compensate, so keeping my healthy choices on eat normal days and 2 days of 500 (or , um, near as I can) on 2 days. Started yesterday. It's tough! I only managed to keep to 800 calories but I thought it was a good start, and all my calories were healthy things. I felt much better for it this morning.
