I am 4 stone over weight and it's making me very unhappy. I've been saying I'll lose weight for the last two years! Instead I've just gotten fatter.

I know most people don't keep up their new years resolutions but I am hoping having a thread on here will help.

If anyone is interested please feel free to join me. I will be using weight watchers but I would love anyone to join.

I intend to start on Jan 1st. I've bought
a nice diary to write my food in.

I'd love it if people could share meal plans and recipie ideas.

That's great headoverheels. I can't break the daily weigh-in just yet, but I'm trying to ignore the daily fluctuations and take one official weight each week that I post on here.

MummyDuck sugar is a bugger isn't it.

I've just discovered Innocent Veg Pots - am now obsessed! They taste so fresh and healthy, and you don't have to do all that chopping. I've been eating really unhealthily recently, and even the first week of the new diet I was eating lower calorie but not great food. This week I've ditched most of the junk and brought back the veg and it feels so much better.

WoodBurnerBabe · 16/01/2014 12:05

Things going well here, I did a cheeky weigh in mid week and the weight is still coming off, but I'm not going to say how much until Monday. Had a bad cheese-related slip yesterday and am still wondering how much of an effect it is going to have...

Lovely to see how everyone is going!

justonemorecake · 16/01/2014 12:41

After my disastrous day yesterday I'm on my third fast day today. The fast days are definitely getting easier. I'm hoping that yesterday wasn't bad enough to undo all my good work the rest of this week.

I'm still struggling to fit in regular exercise. Is everyone else managing to exercise regularly?

slimsoon · 16/01/2014 15:08

I had a soupathon today and made 3 batches for the freezer; tomato and basil , carrot and coriander and pumpkin.
Thats lunch sorted for the next week .

Then I ate all the kids popcorn ........

BigWellyLittleWelly · 16/01/2014 19:20

I started back to work after maternity leave and today was the first time I have taken a healthy and filling lunch in the last three years! Messed up slightly by forgetting to take dinner out of the freezer do DH has been dispatched to the shops with instructions to buy healthy food.

Applesnotcakes · 16/01/2014 20:54

Not really getting into a lot of exercise justonemorecake. I would like to because it helps me keep my head in the right place re food as well as burning a few calories, but I find it hard to make time in the winter. Before work is a vague possibility once its a bit lighter in the mornings. So all I do is walk a lot in the week, to and from work and if I have time at lunchtime, and try to do a bit more at the weekend. A shuffle round the park, (people dont seem to jog anymore but I certainly don't really run)or wii fit. I might, maybe, give the Shred a go this weekend. But then again I might not....

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 17/01/2014 09:31

Friday is now my weigh day and I'm down another 1lb so that's 6lbs since 28th dec Grin.

I've hardly counted anything this week, just tried to be sensible and watch portions. I made a big pot of veg soup and been having a bowl of that for lunch, amazing how full soup makes you feel! New job is def making me more active which I think has also helped!!

Happy Friday everyone!!!

Racheyg · 17/01/2014 11:41

Sorry just come on here for a moan. Have worked so hard all week stuck to my points hardly snacked did some form of exercise every day and I only lose a 1lb wtf?!? Very disheartened :(

tumbletumble · 17/01/2014 12:35

Hang in there Rache. I do find that if you stick to it you will be rewarded eventually - but not always in the short term. You'll probably get a big drop next week. Don't give up!

TalkinPeace · 17/01/2014 12:53

Racheyg
you lost a pound in the week.
this is the 52 lb in 52 weeks thread
you are spot on target
WELL DONE

for next week change "hardly snacked" into "didn't snack"
and make sure you do not count back ANY exercise points and you will
carry on heading in the right direction Grin

Racheyg · 17/01/2014 14:17

Thanks tumble. I guess I just got my hopes up as I had a good week.

Thanks talkinpeace. I don't count my exercise points unless I go out for dinner ect and I know my weekly points will no be enough. Snacking is my weakness :)

Thanks guys for your support

HugAndRoll · 17/01/2014 14:57

I lost 2lbs :). Finally! Let's hope it stays off unlike the first lb I lost Hmm.

slimsoon · 17/01/2014 16:36

Happy weekend everyone .
Just received a wedding invitation for mid May . Hopefully will be 24 lbs + down by then.
Looking forward to social occassions where I'm not mistaken for the venue !

I have really avoided formal and dressy things since having
my last child.

Time to change that.

TalkinPeace · 17/01/2014 19:37

on another thread somebody posted this excellent link about mindful eating
www.pathwaystoresilience.org/wp-content/themes/pathwaystrust/Documents/My-Friends-Youth/Session%204/Mindfulness%20Exercise%20-%20Chocolate.pdf
it will help get your body and brain in alignment

justonemorecake · 17/01/2014 20:48

Well done to everyone with weight loss. We are all aiming for 1lb a week so any loss is a win!

Very busy at the moment, as I tend to snack when I'm bored or sat around.

With regards to mindful eating; I think I'm doing well with no snacking. I'm realising I'm reaching for food out of habit rather than hunger. I'm still struggling with portion sizes though. I just automatically fill my cereal bowl to the brim and when enjoying a mealI fill my plate until it's full, and it's generally a success if I don't go back for seconds!

WhenDoISleep · 17/01/2014 23:17

Great to here all the positive progress.

I'm another who weighs daily (but also have an 'official' weekly weigh in) and I found a useful app (iTunes) called Happy Scale - it takes your daily weight and smooths out the daily fluctuations to provide an predicted adjusted weight. It also charts weights so you can see the pattern over time.

I did realise today that I had my WW points allowance set up incorrectly. When I first signed up DS2 was 6m and EBF so I had the full 14 additional points for breast feeding. Now he is 20m and happily munching away (as well as wanting milk everything I sit down on the sofa) so the additional points should only be 7 Blush. Although I am happy I have mostly using around the revised daily points allowance anyway.

WhenDoISleep · 17/01/2014 23:17

hear

BigWellyLittleWelly · 18/01/2014 11:22

Another 2lbs loss

Thats 10lb loss since the 30th December

BehindLockNumberNine · 18/01/2014 11:38

I lost 1 pound this week. I know that is the aim of the exercise but I can't help but feel a little disappointed.

I have been exercising lots this week and ended every day with 200 calories left to eat. I was, if I am completely honest, expecting a bigger loss.

Oh well, onwards and downwards...

MyNameIsKenAdams · 18/01/2014 11:57

Well done to ev

MyNameIsKenAdams · 18/01/2014 11:58

MyNameIsKenAdams · 18/01/2014 11:58

MyNameIsKenAdams · 18/01/2014 11:59

Rage!! Everyone who has lost or stayed the same.

ive been ill the last couple of days so havebt looged anything as all ive had is the odd cup a soup. Fingers crossed its meant an extra lb off.

WoodBurnerBabe · 18/01/2014 17:57

1lb is good though! It's sustainable.

I weighed this morning and it's 2lb off but I won't wake it official until Monday, been walking round the zoo all day so fingers crossed I don't put any on before Monday morning...

Congrats to all, here's to a non snacking Saturday night!

lifesgreatquestions · 18/01/2014 18:44

I've found it impossible to keep up with lots of check ins as have started using MFP. But thanks for those who posted their use of that, I have found it incredibly helpful as a way of keeping on top of things. I've lost 3 pounds - I think it's due to stopping eating biscuits and introducing a load of fruit and veg - so no surprises. My stomach is also less bloaty as I've really cut down on the carbs. So that's one week in for me - we'll see if I can stick to it! Really inspiring to read on here of people's success stories, like slimsoon I'm also having a lot of homemade soups, mmm!
