I am 4 stone over weight and it's making me very unhappy. I've been saying I'll lose weight for the last two years! Instead I've just gotten fatter.

I know most people don't keep up their new years resolutions but I am hoping having a thread on here will help.

If anyone is interested please feel free to join me. I will be using weight watchers but I would love anyone to join.

I intend to start on Jan 1st. I've bought
a nice diary to write my food in.

I'd love it if people could share meal plans and recipie ideas.

Wood burner try and go as long as you can for a fast day without eating anything. I find I am peckish about half an hour after I wake up which then subsides. I then get hungry again at about 11am and that ramps up until I am properly hungry at midday. I just push on through though and feel better after 1pm ish. I try and keep myself busy until at least 5pm. All the while i have plenty of drinks. Sounds impossible but I used to be a grazer, if I can do it, you can!

atomicyoghurt · 30/12/2013 15:24

When I do a fast day I have to have breakfast or I end up binging mid afternoon.

I have half a banana for breakfast. This is enough to tide me over, I find.

Then I have a maximum of 200 calories for lunch. Something like sushi.

Then as long as I exercise in the day can have a decent dinner.

I also drink A Lot on the fast days. Diet coke and tea and water.

Cluesue · 30/12/2013 15:27

I'm in,I have 7 stone to lose,I've lost and gaind 4stones about six times since my early twenties(37)but I am now the biggest I have ever been,nearly , 5ft 7in and size 22.

headoverheels · 30/12/2013 15:29

I'm in. Starting weight 13st 0lb this morning - a bit higher than I was hoping for. I'm on My Fitness Pal - username mrspepperpotty.

Cluesue · 30/12/2013 15:29

Sorry nearly 18st

WoodBurnerBabe · 30/12/2013 15:29

Right. Will try tomorrow and see how long I can go. I reckon if I can just do one fast day, it should get easier!

My TDEE is 1983cals which sounds huge? I'm aiming for about 1500-1600 at the moment using MFP.

And I have unearthed the kitchen scales to weigh ALL portions. Do you know how little 45g of breakfast cereal is?!? Minute. I've been eating double portions for years, and probably not just of cereal either.

Think we are going to get a shock when we start weighing pasta and rice etc..

Cluesue · 30/12/2013 15:38

I'm on mirtazipine which can cause weight gain,I just hope it doesn't hinder weight loss

Woodburner
Do come and join the 5:2 threads .... 33 is just finishing, 34 will go live tonight
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/fasting_diet
^the same applies to anybody who is going to try fasting as apart of their tactics.

BUT ( there's often a but with my posts Grin)
If you are fasting, you can eat up to your TDEE on the other days because all of your shortfall is in the two days.

The pattern that has worked wonders for eatriskier
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/fasting_diet/1908144-The-Inspirational-5-2-Thread
was
Monday = 500 calories
Tuesday = TDEE less 10%
Wednesday = TDEE less 10%
Thursday = 500 calories
Friday = TDEE
Saturday = just don't ask Wink
Sunday = TDEE

MyNameIsKenAdams · 30/12/2013 15:39

Im out tonight for dinner and cocktails with family and friends so know I will go well over, but hopefully will choose sensibly from the options there - spirit and fruit juice cocktail, glass of.wine woth the meal and a g&SLt after. Foodwise I cant decide what is worse - the carby bready stuff or the fatty ham.and salty olive stuff Confused

WoodBurnerBabe · 30/12/2013 16:07

I like the look of the 'just don't ask' day! Presume it isn't a massive blowout, more just a normal pre-diet day!

I try not to think what my calorie intake is on a splurge day bigchocfrenzy lives up to her name on hers
BUT because we are leaving leeway all week,
that one day of cocktails and canapes and wine and cheese and more wine does little harm ( KenAdams Smile)

SunshineOnACrappyDay · 30/12/2013 16:21

Can I join? I'm FabulousJasper on MFP and have about 5 stone to lose.

Bithurt · 30/12/2013 16:45

Just weighed myself and after 2 weeks off of sw I've put on about 8.5lbs! Gutted but expected it. Getting weighed tonight. Thing is, we have another Xmas dinner on Sunday plus new year.

roosterroo · 30/12/2013 17:31

Back at work today ,first fast day. This really took some planning!
I had a coffee at home then was able to hang on till 10ish for some grapefruit. I found i have drunk gallons of water tho`

Got to stick with it till the end of the day now lookong for housework thats not in the kitchenSmile

SunshineOnACrappyDay · 30/12/2013 17:42

I've just been on the Wii - for the first time in 3 years, apparently...

It's telling me that I've lost 10lbs since I last weighed in - fat chance! I'll carry on using the machine at Boots :)

I'm calorie counting and using a lowish GI plan. It seems to work for me. However, I've still got a lot of socialising between now and next week.

TheOnlySevenSleighbells · 30/12/2013 18:00

sunshine that's what i need to lose too

SunshineOnACrappyDay · 30/12/2013 19:23

We can do it sleighbells :)

AutumnWind · 30/12/2013 19:38

I need to join as well. I got on really well with the 5:2 diet, but could only maintain it on holiday- can't do it with the pressure of work.

By losing 1 lb a week, I should be at my ideal weight by September. Can't be that hard, can it Confused

D you think it's possible to lose weight without feeling hungry? I hate feeling hungry (actually, I don't mind feeling starving, just not hungry- I'm ok to go all day without eating, but when I start, then I binge...).

BigWellyLittleWelly · 30/12/2013 19:39

Is there anyone else here with a v young baby or bresstfeeding? Reason I ask is because a) I need coping strategies that don't have me diving for the bottom of the biscuit tin or drinking strong sweet coffee and b) I am concerned about milk supply as I really struggled to shift baby weight after dc1 without affecting supply.

I also have IBS, that I hope will improve when I start to lose weight.

MrsClauswearsspanx · 30/12/2013 19:53

BigWelly I don't have a tiny baby but am still breastfeeding (she's 10 months). I find my body doesn't
want to let go of an ounce without a struggle!

I think the answer for me will be to reduce carbs.

WhenDoISleep · 30/12/2013 20:08

I'm in.

Lost 6 stone 5 years ago and then had two babies. I'm just over three stone up on my lightest ever adult weight and now DS2 is a toddler, I'm determined to sort my self out this year.

4 stone would be a miracle (it would make me 9st 12lb - I was probably a pre-teen last time I weighed that little) and 3 stone would be fantastic. Realistically I think I will aim for two stone to start with - I don't seem to lose weight easily.

Planning on trying to get back on the WW wagon, with maybe a little 5:2 as well, but not likely to do that until later in the year as DS2 is still BF.

Exercise is tricky, not much space and dodgy floors - have tried The Shred before, but it was hard on my knees. Any recommendations for some other short workout ideas?

BigWellyLittleWelly · 30/12/2013 20:16

I did a low carb diet (with BIWI) when I was breastfeeding dc1, it completely trashed my milk supply, and my d&v was about 18months at the time. I really prefer it as a WOE but have had to continue to eat carbs this time cutting out refined sugar and processed foods while upping my water intake will be my way forward.

Luckily I can't eat cheese. But the bone crushing sleep deprivation is eroding my willpower

BigWellyLittleWelly · 30/12/2013 20:25

I also return to work next week. After seven months maternity leave. Emotionally finding it extremely difficult to contemplate handing my dc2, most beautiful wonderful child over to others to look after. Separation anxiety exists both ways Wink but in preperation I did make this thread of lunch ideas of anyone wants inspiration.

OohMrDarcy · 30/12/2013 20:46

Thats shred day 2 done here! Legs were very shaky to begin with but then found my mojo... did better overall than day 1, so am pleased. Also measured my arm, bust, waist, hips and thigh.... hoping inch loss there will keep me motivated if there is no weight loss next week! I shan't share my initial measurements though, wouldn't want to scare you

Can't remember who it was, but someone was disheartened by 'only' losing 1lb..... that is what we signed up for remember! Anything else is a bonus! Grin

OohMrDarcy · 30/12/2013 20:48

whendoisleep
