I am 4 stone over weight and it's making me very unhappy. I've been saying I'll lose weight for the last two years! Instead I've just gotten fatter.

I know most people don't keep up their new years resolutions but I am hoping having a thread on here will help.

If anyone is interested please feel free to join me. I will be using weight watchers but I would love anyone to join.

I intend to start on Jan 1st. I've bought
a nice diary to write my food in.

I'd love it if people could share meal plans and recipie ideas.

Can I join? I have 4 stone to loose too. Joining slimming world and bfing 6w old. Desperate to feel like my old self after 5 years of pretty much constant pregnancy and breast feeding.

Not had a chance to read everything but will try and catch up!

SunshineOnACrappyDay · 30/12/2013 20:59

Thanks Welly for the link - I'm back at uni soon so it'll come in handy.

WoodBurnerBabe · 30/12/2013 21:24

Have taken out my sewing for the first time in ages to keep my fingers away from the biscuits :-)

darwiniandreams · 30/12/2013 21:48

I've never drank as much water I feel as if I'm drowning Grin. On the plus side my skin is a lot better. I may have to go to bed early though to stop me from eating anymore........I'm already over my calories Blush

WoodBurnerBabe · 30/12/2013 21:59

Funny you should say that, my skin is clear at the moment, I hadn't linked it to my water consumption...

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 30/12/2013 22:18

Please add me to your MFP friends too. My usernane is ummasud.

I started the 3 week Jumpstart to Skinny plan today. It promises up to 20lbs lost in three weeks and I lost about 8 the last time I was on it even though I was not diligent at all in the last week. So I've got high hopes. I want to jumpstart and have three weeks of intense weight loss then move onto 5:2.

BigWellyLittleWelly · 30/12/2013 22:20

Bloody DH opened the after eights.
Sigh

TalkinPeace · 30/12/2013 22:30

3 week Jumpstart to Skinny plan today. It promises up to 20lbs lost in three weeks
that is a really bad idea
such rapid weight loss is not good for you and will not lead to sustainable ....
your own post is the giveaway
I lost about 8 the last time I was on it
please eat sensibly and start the habits now that will last you a lifetime

SunshineOnACrappyDay · 30/12/2013 22:41

I'm on the cava. I'm deffo over my cals now.

darwiniandreams · 30/12/2013 22:47

woodburnerbabe before this I don't think I had a glass of water for a long time. My skin was bad, prone to acne so I will keep my fingers crossed and hope it will get better! Smile

darwiniandreams · 30/12/2013 22:49

Sorry woodburnerbabe your name was not meant to crossed through Blush

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 31/12/2013 02:47

Talkinpeace, 8lbs in three weeks is not unhealthy weight loss at all. It's not uncommon to lose a little extra in the first week of any weight loss programme as your body sheds a lot of water weight as you cut back on salt and bloating foods and because of the extra water you drink that helps reduce water retainment. After that, I lost 2lbs per week in the second and third week which is perfectly healthy.

Jumpstart to Skinny is only supposed to be a three week plan but it is based on a sensible and responsible method and is a lot healthier than the title suggests. Bob Harper is a professional with an impressive track record and is not suggesting any sort of extreme starvation diet. You really have to know more about it before declaring that it's a bad idea.

I didn't read the thread at all yesterday.

And now there are 413 messages...it seems like loads of people have already started.

Is there anyone out there who hasn't already started?

Autumnwind I can relate to that - I can go till mid afternoon without eating, too, but like you said, once I start....

I've eaten ridiculous amounts of chocolate, just because I'm starting a diet tomorrow and I'm going cold turkey..that 's my problem, I'm either on a diet or I'm over eating...there's never any in between with me.

Good luck everyone!

CecyHall · 31/12/2013 08:12

I haven't started yet, I'm starting Thursday as DH will be back at work and things should be a bit more normal.

WoodBurnerBabe · 31/12/2013 08:16

darwiniandreams my skin is also very prone to spots, oily / dry patches etc. But 5 days of draining the local reservoir dry seem to have worked wonders - I woke up this morning and my skin is smooth and clear, not seen that in years... I've gone through good patches before, but never managed to link it to diet and water.

Seems a bit obvious now, to be honest Blush

pussinwellyboots · 31/12/2013 08:20

Can I join too? Have about.4 stone to loose and I know that everyday things would be that bit easier if there was less of me! Am planning to.use mfp (when I get tablet for my birthday.next week as it takes up too.much room on my phone) other than that by eating sensibly and having fruit rather than rubbish between meals. Also trying to exercise more.

MissMusicale · 31/12/2013 08:48

After being referred to as the "fat one" in the family Sad, this is the supportive weight loss group I need Smile

I've just signed up to mfp and my username is sunshine_girl80

I live near the coast so am planning some nice walks, upping my water intake as I'm a tea fiend and just following the 'eat less move more' initiative

For the first time in my life I'm feeling really motivated to do this - just hope I can remain motivated Hmm

BrokenButNotFinished · 31/12/2013 08:49

Misfitless - I haven't started yet. I'm easing up, but not planning to start using mfp until Tuesday when the children will be back at school. And I can then go to BMF on Wednesday.

Applesnotcakes · 31/12/2013 09:24

I'm starting on the 2nd - in the middle of a food and alcohol fest at the moment at my brothers house. He's a really good cook so I'm not holding back!

Looking forward to getting going again though. Definitely feeling a bit sluggish from all the Christmas indulgence. I lost 2 and a half stone over 2013, a slow process but relatively painless and if I do it again this year I'll be happy.

WoodBurnerBabe · 31/12/2013 09:30

Have managed to avoid breakfast, so the fast is on!

Although I've just put our planned evening meal into mpf and it's over the 500, so need to trim that so I can have some lunch.

Earthymama · 31/12/2013 09:59

From my over-heated fleecy nest on the sofa, with my head aching and joints killing me, I am in too.

I want both DP and I to feel better and love Life and Living again.

I get really down in winter and I know eating sensibly and well will contribute massively to my mental health.

I have had to stop eating wheat and compensated by eating Lindt choc bars, an obvious substitution, I feel.

Sadly I seem to wearing the results and don't like it!!

I am therefore seeking advice on vegetarian, gluten free, filling food plan ideas.

HugAndRoll · 31/12/2013 10:18

I've not started healthy eating but as I mentioned up thread I've started logging on mfp (same username as here if you want to add me). It's a real eye opener!

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 31/12/2013 11:19

Had a decent day yesterday, knew I would be grabbing dinner on the go last night so ate well through the day and in the end I was over but not a massive amount.

In the middle of big NYE clean up so hopefully burning some cals whilst I work! Grin

ApplySomePressure · 31/12/2013 11:33

Just made a shopping list for the first time in years, and I plan to stick to it!

Hopefully this will stop me from picking up "treats" and food that I just do not need.Since reading the Beck Diet (I'm nowhere near finished all the cognitive behaviour tasks, takes6 weeks apparently) I've noticed that I'm less panicky about feeling hungry. I'm picking less and drinking more water.

I'm gingerchubs on MFP btw

justonemorecake · 31/12/2013 12:21

I need to get better at making shopping lists. I always go and just pick what I fancy. I'm sure it's more unhealthy and more expensive. I also often make the mistake of going food shopping when I'm hungry and then I end up buying lots of junk!
