20lbs lighter by Christmas Day, anyone?

Hi
Got weighed at weekend in one of those places where you can't shift your toes around on the scale to lose half a stone. Bit of a shock. Does anyone want to join me to be 20lb lighter by Christmas?

That's only 2lb a week. We can do it.

Height: 5'4"
Start weight on 21st October: 159lb
Goal Weight on Christmas Day: 139lb

Food Plan: no sugar or processed foods, lots of water, lots of veg and lean protein. Alcohol free on weekdays

Exercise Plan: Daily Shred plus what I already do (fitness class and walks)

Anyone want to join in and add plans, tips, motivators, anything at all to get us there by Christmas Day?

Good luck yogurt , what method will you be using?

atomicyoghurt · 30/10/2013 09:55

thanks bish
well I've had a lot of success in the past with the 5:2 (I lost over a stone in only a month), but I've got glandular fever and I came of the pill and got severely anaemic (was it heavy periods or a restricted diet?) so it's been a really bad 4 months or so and I've put quite a lot back on (not really blaming the illness, I've used it as an excuse to stuff my face with chocolate and cheese)
Because I'm still a bit ill I think I'll try and do mfp with 1200 calories or so a day and maybe do a no-carb day a week. I'm going to struggle with exercise tbh as I'm absolutely exhausted most of the time (3 dds under 6).

But 2lb a week is do-able surely!

sweetheart · 30/10/2013 10:03

Atomic I think 2Ib is quite a lot to loose each week, especially if you are not exercising. I don't mean to put a downer on you but I think it helps to be realistic so that you can stay focused and on track. Can you walk or cycle with the kids - or go out on scooters? I've tried scooting on my kids ones and it's bloomin knackering Wink

sweetheart · 30/10/2013 11:07

Ohhhh just been flicking through my diary and realised I have lost a stone since 1st September. Today will be day 16 of the Shred for me so halfway through that. I'm starting to feel better about my weight and my body is feeling trimmer and more toned. This is the time when I usually go off track and start to relax things a bit. I really really must stay focused until Christmas though! I've got a tough few weekends coming up which is all the more reason to try and stay focused.

I need to come up with a plan for when I've finished Shred. that will take me nicely up to a wedding we are attending but I need to focus myself after this as there will still be a very long hard 1.5 month to stay on track for!

bishboschone · 30/10/2013 12:34

I'm doing weight watchers and finding it ok. I bought the books from eBay and calculator and that's all you need really.

WishIHadAFunkyName · 30/10/2013 13:21

I've been so much better with food recently.
I really think I can do this :)

Sleepyhead33 · 30/10/2013 20:26

Hi,
Can I join please with 8 weigh ins until Christmas?

I started trying to lose weight on 18th August after a horrible 'fat, holiday. Am 5ft 3 and weighed in at 168lbs-eek.

I started straight away with the JMs DVD-30 day shred and eating around 1400-1500 calories a day -logging in MFP.

I have-at last weigh in on Sunday 27/10-lost 20lbs in the last 10 weeks and am so, so happy that I started this-and kept it up. Now, I want to be saying to myself at Christmas that I am glad that I kept it going throughout November and December.

I have started alternating two different JM DVDs-NMTZ and BFBM to change things up a bit after being thrilled with the results of the 30ds.

Anyway, reading this thread has been inspiring and given me renewed motivation so thank you.

With 8 weigh ins until Christmas I would like to lose about 10lbs and move from 10st 7.5 to 9st 12lbs ish. Would be thrilled to see a 9st something on the scales and be a healthy BMI!

CrystalDeCanter · 31/10/2013 05:16

Hi sleepyhead, welcome and well done on fantastic progress so far.

I have a house full of sickly children, there's horrible gastro going round there school, in fact I feel a bit bleurgh myself. Am hoping a positive side effect to all this illness will be ginormous weight loss on monday.

Apart from the general malaise I'm doing ok on the 5:2, I feel astonishingly better that I did 2 weeks ago.

sweetheart · 31/10/2013 11:30

He Sleepy - well done on your progress so far, you've done a fab job!

How is everyone doing? It's been super quiet on here this week! I'm plodding along doing ok. Big night out on Saturday which means I'm going to have to really reign it in the rest of the weekend which is a bit depressing! Busy busy day on Sunday with the kids sporting activities though so hopefully that will stop me picking at all the left over Halloween goodies!

bishboschone · 31/10/2013 11:58

I'm still
Plodding along on my weight watchers at home. I weighed myself Wednesday and had lost a few more pounds so in happy with that. I was just getting fatter and fatter so I'm pleased to
Get some of it off. I'm trying not to make it a big deal, just doing it and forgetting about it so hopefully Xmas day I will wake up size 8 again -v hopeful!!-Grin

WishIHadAFunkyName · 31/10/2013 12:14

I'm plodding along too!
I had a meal out last night and managed to stick to just plain rice and a non-coconutty thai curry with sparkling water to drink and that's it!
I had porridge for breakfast and 2 small burgers and veg for lunch a home made cupcake for a snack.
Today I had porridge for breakfast and a slice of toast. I'm not hungry but will have some lentil soup for lunch and chicken and veg stir fry with a small amount of noodles for dinner.

I'm feeling very lethargic these days though. I don't know how to sort that out. I don't get great sleep but get enough I think (1 yr old who wakes at night 2-4 times but goes back to sleep after a little cuddle. I go to bed around 11 and up at 7) I've cut right back on sugar, I only drink 1 or 2 cups of coffee a day and I walk daily.
Anything else I can do? or am I just getting used to a new lifestyle?
Maybe its the broken sleep?

WishIHadAFunkyName · 31/10/2013 12:16

oh and sleepyhead you've done really, really well so far! Well done :)
I hope I'm saying something similar in a couple of months.

sweetheart · 31/10/2013 14:43

Funky when did you cut back on your sugar? Perhaps your body is experiencing withdrawal symptoms if it was in the last couple of weeks.

WishIHadAFunkyName · 31/10/2013 15:34

I cut back last week. I've not cut it out and still have something small but the amount I was eating before was ridiculous. I was craving it all day long and eating loads of sugar throughout the day.
I hope it'll sort itself out soon as I'm finding it really difficult to motivate myself to do stuff.

Mrspebble · 31/10/2013 15:48

I am really proud of myself.. I never go to the garage and get a coffee (once a week treat) without picking up a bar.. Ever! But just got my coffee today.. No sugar either. Saw a beautiful dress I want to buy so trying o keep motivated. Salmon, asparagus and boiled potato for dinner

sweetheart · 31/10/2013 15:52

Well done MrsP - bad habits are SO hard to break!

Funky - I think once your out of the sugar craving bit you'll feel much better!

clary · 31/10/2013 16:13

I've been OK. A friend called on Tuesday and I made cupcakes and ate two (oops).

Yesterday I ate half a dozen fruitella sweets in the cinema with the DC (double oops).

But have stuck to no chocolate and am trying not to eat in the late evening. Went swimming Tuesday; gonna try to get to an exercise class at 8pm (if the trick or treaters have gone!)

sweetheart · 31/10/2013 22:16

Ahhhh not doing well tonight......several trick or treat sweets, a glass of wine with the neighbours, a bowl of popcorn and a hot choc to warm up Sad diet fail day! I know what's happening, I'm getting close to my goal, feeling better now some weights off and so I'm relaxing and becoming complacent! I need to refocus and try to stay on track!

CrystalDeCanter · 31/10/2013 23:59

It's Friday morning and I have a bowl of leftover sweets STARING at me. I'm having a coffee then going for w2r2 on c25k so I don't just eat the lot. Lovely warm day here (sorry) so taking the kids swimming later, will try to swim too but youngest dd still a bit crap and needs close supervising.

Hopefully the run and the swim will negate the sweets if my willpower fails me.

Well done MrsP, Funky I think broken nights sleep are knack earring, even if the overall amount isn't bad. Mind you 11pm would be a late night for me, but then I'm an old gimmer.

CrystalDeCanter · 01/11/2013 00:00

Oh stoopid sodding iPad and autocorrect. Knackering not knack earring.

KatoPotato · 01/11/2013 10:16

Knack Earrings sound... umm lovely! Grin

This morning I've lost 1lb of thew 2lbs I gained last week. Not sure how I feel about that!

clary · 01/11/2013 10:59

Held off bravely from the T or T sweets last night

Also went to triple challenge class which was good tho I couldn't hear the instructor above the music...just had to watch her closely Smile

Eaten a piece of toast and a wrap (no time for lunch today as we are out in a bit) with tomatoes so far. Waiting in for the gas man but at least I've almost got the ironing done :)

happy2bhomely · 01/11/2013 11:14

Just checking in. I'm down to 11st12lbs from 12st7lbs.

My belly is flatter and my back fat is disappearing. Im going out tomorrow night, and for the first time in a long time, I'm not stressing about how I'm going to conceal the rolls!

I'm going to the hair dressers tomorrow morning, and getting my hair highlighted. I'm getting the old me back.

I've got a long way to go, but I'm in the zone! I keep visualising myself looking lovely on Christmas morning. This year, DH can be behind the camera and I'm going to be in the photos with the kids!

GinnelsandWhippets · 01/11/2013 11:48

Well done Happy, Clary and everyone:). After last week's epic failure to adjust my eating habits I have been v strict this week. Am low carbing, eating meat/fish, any veg (except for potatoes, carrots, peas & corn), cheese/cream/oils. No sugar and no grains. Have lost 5lbs since Monday which is amazing, although most of it is water I'm sure. Still am chuffed to bits.

Have got friends over for dinner on Saturday, so am planning food v carefully. How does this sound?

Beef korma,
Onion bhajis (made with ground almonds rather than chickpea flour)
Spicy veg curry (spinach, cauliflower, green pepper, green beans)
Pilau rice for the non-dieters

Dessert is the tricky bit - I'm going to try making coconut cupcakes, with coconut flour and a little agave to sweeten, with a mascarpone-lime topping. Sound ok?

Oh and drinks will be G & T with cucumber.

That meal won't derail me will it?

gail734 · 01/11/2013 12:32

Some amazing losses here, well done! I did weigh myself on Monday, but didn't come on here to report my HALF a pound weight loss! Hey ho, at least it was half a pound in the right direction!
