20lbs lighter by Christmas Day, anyone?

notagiraffe · 21/10/2013 14:18

Hi
Got weighed at weekend in one of those places where you can't shift your toes around on the scale to lose half a stone. Bit of a shock. Does anyone want to join me to be 20lb lighter by Christmas?

That's only 2lb a week. We can do it.

Height: 5'4"
Start weight on 21st October: 159lb
Goal Weight on Christmas Day: 139lb

Food Plan: no sugar or processed foods, lots of water, lots of veg and lean protein. Alcohol free on weekdays

Exercise Plan: Daily Shred plus what I already do (fitness class and walks)

Anyone want to join in and add plans, tips, motivators, anything at all to get us there by Christmas Day?

Wow happy2bhomely I think you win Christmas Light Grin of the Week Award Thanks That's amazing. Well done.

Welcome all new people.

Round up of this weeks tips from everyone:

  1. Metabolic rates can be worked out on Wiki (thank you lifesgreatquestions)
  2. Mt Fitness pal is a great place to keep track of food, water & exercise daily.
  3. Keep off the sugar and booze.
  4. Drink water.
  5. Be extra careful the day before a blow out and the day after, so you can enjoy the blow out, guilt free.
  6. Portion control: smaller plate size; fill plate with veg first then add protein then carbs, in that order.

Weigh in tomorrow, everyone. Good luck.

If you want, PM me your start weight and new weight. I'll add anyone who PMs me to a running tally and put it up by end of tomorrow.

I won't be able to pm you til the evening notagiraffe. Hope that's ok.

Even though my bmr is 1397, I lose weight quite well sticking to 1400 as long as I choose the right type of food (mostly protein and veg, some carbs and even a treat for around 100cals) so don't despair, you shouldn't have to go to 900cals! stick to 1400 for a while and see how you go.

WishIHadAFunkyName · 27/10/2013 16:54

Sorry the last bit was to sweetheart - and anyone else who's interested :)

notagiraffe · 27/10/2013 17:07

Wish that's fine.

Today I have eaten:
Breakfast Slice of toast with butter and home made damson jam; herbal tea
Lunch Cheese topped roll with tomatoes and mayonnaise
Mid afternoon snack Another roll and a bowl of yogurt and syrup
Dinner: Small portion of salmon pasta bake and broccoli (was full from yogurt eaten at 4pm)
More herbal tea
This evening: Small bottle of lager.

It's not too bad but too much in the way of white carbs I can see. Still managed not to buy any choc/crisps etc in Aldi today.

notagiraffe · 27/10/2013 20:27

Clary do you use My Fitness Pal to log food? It's great at telling you how much protein, fibre and sugars etc you are eating per day. I was eating way too much sugar in just 2-3 pieces of fruit. Couldn't believe it!

Today:
B: natural yoghurt, small banana, 30g sugar free muesli, coffee

L: veg soup, scrambled egg

S: apple, 2 ryvita, tea

D: beef, mushroom and bean casserole, sprouts and peas

lots of water.

Went for a jog this morning for about 30 mins while DC played rugby.

Am I too late to join? I'm desperate for some motivation to lose around 2 stone. 18lb by Christmas sounds like a perfect start. Currently around 11st but will weigh in the morning and will let you know. I have previously been to we meetings and found them great but once I stop the bad habits creep back. From reading this thread I think I'll try mfp and c25k plus some yoga, Wii fit and swimming thrown in.

Good luck everyone.

notagiraffe · 27/10/2013 20:46

Hi Duck, yes, join us. Just adjust the weight loss to account for having one week less (which you've already done.)

We're here to:

encourage each other to stay on target
look forward to looking gorgeous on Christmas day
get lots of exercise
drink lots of water
log daily menus
go easy on alcohol and very easy on sugar

weigh ins are on Mondays (please PM me and I'll add you to our list)

Follow any diet that works for you. Lots of us are doing low carb, zero sugar, high veg and protein. Using MFP is encouraged.

Thanks. More water, less sugar is key for me for starters. my weaknesses are carbs, anything sweet, portion sizes and I am a diet coke addict. Have now downloaded and set up mfp and c25k. Goodnight all.

Goooooooooooooooooooood morning!

Well done happy 7lbs is awesome.

I've weighed myself and am down 4lbs YOWZERS! Now 134lb, only another 12lbs to go.

I'm intending to go for a walk/run in my lunch hour today, rain is forecast however so am hoping it stays dry.

Good luck everyone with the weigh ins this morning.

Tmallett92 · 28/10/2013 02:22

can everyone please comment on my thread. "somebody help me" I could really do with some support!

CrystalDeCanter · 28/10/2013 03:11

Happy to comment Tmallett if you provide a link . . .

Just back from my run, no rain, but very windy. Was lovely.

I am doing 5:2 which seems to suit me as am hopelessly miserable if deprived of too many good things all at once. And am shite at counting calories. The simpler the better for me.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 28/10/2013 08:55

Weighed in this morning at 182.5lbs.

Very pleased considering the donor kebab and a heavy night out on Saturday. Grin

Only 18.5lbs to go until Christmas.

Mrspebble · 28/10/2013 09:00

I lost two pound.. Very happy with that as had a lot of sleepless nights this week so didn't get doing as much planned exercise as I would like. Have my six week check tomorrow after section so hope I get the go ahead for light running.

Think I need to ditch the sugary teas and coffees to make a real difference.

18lb to go.. Well done everyone

KatoPotato · 28/10/2013 09:03

Effing well effed off to effery!

2lb gain has stayed with me...

sweetheart · 28/10/2013 09:10

I'm 1Ib down this week which is fine as that's what I'm aiming for. I'm nearly 2 months into my diet so the weight loss has slowed right down for me - glad to see some of you posting some really great losses though. 9Ibs to go to target for me.

happy2bhomely · 28/10/2013 10:22

I've found the biggest change I've made is with portion sizes. I really was in denial about just how much I was eating.

This week I have been weighing pasta, rice, everything! I was not impressed when I measured a 75 g portion of pasta for lunch. It was tiny! I must have easily been eating 3-4 times that as a portion. I grated a tiny bit of cheese to go on a quorn bolognese, and couldn't believe the calories in just 50 grams.

Surprisingly my appetite has adjusted quickly. I'm looking at food differently. The toasted muffin is not worth 130 calories, but the large flat grilled mushrooms at 16 calories a go, are delicious. Snacking on sliced cucumber with vinegar and sea salt sprinkled on is surprisingly satisfying as a mid afternoon snack!

We had chicken breast stuffed with cheese and wrapped in Parma ham for dinner last night. I normally have 2, the same as DH. Served with potatoes, garlic bread, coleslaw etc. Instead I chose the smallest breast, and had it with a huge cucumber and tomato salad with one slice on garlic bread.

DH has commented that I look slimmer, and it's made me feel great!

Keep up the good work everyoneSmile

Chlorinella · 28/10/2013 10:40

I didn't lose anything this week , but didn't put on either , so that's something .
I'm going to excercise this week , sweetheart asked me up thread which sort of excersise I liked . The answer is I don't . The 2 words don't go together in my vocabulary :)
So , my plan is a brisk upwards walk on the treadmill ( 20 mins ) then 10 mins on the rower , with some stomach crunches and some squats thrown in .
Wish me luck !

clary · 28/10/2013 11:14

Right I weighed myself this morning at 11st 2 which is already 2lb off what I was last week. Great result.

Will try the website. Gonna go for a run this evening, not been running for weeks but no excuses now it's half term.

sweetheart · 28/10/2013 11:17

Chlorinella - I'm sure we can find you a type of exercise that you do actually enjoy! I play a team sport which I love and it honestly doesn't feel like exercise, just a catch up with my mates.

Do you like dancing? There are lots of dance based workouts that are fun. What about boxing? Or perhaps rebounding - I've done that before and it's great fun messing about on a mini trampoline. What about actual trampoline lessons? That would be a fab workout and fun too Wink

GinnelsandWhippets · 28/10/2013 11:18

I weighed in at 151/10st 11 today, so no change. But considering I didn't do any dieting at all last week, and in fact had pizza, a Chinese, loads of wine and party food that's not so bad.

Oh, I joined this thread under the NN supergeek, then changed NN on Thursday cos was bored!

haggisandneeps · 28/10/2013 12:05

I started on Saturday as I was late joining the thread. 1lb off so 13st 6lbs.

deewillow · 28/10/2013 16:01

Hi there, yay ive manged to shift some it ...starting weight was 11st8lb......this morning was 11st 5.5lb.....a steady start, pleased as i have done no exercise at all this week due to an injury from running. Good luck to everyone weighing in today x

NoCarbsBeforeBarbs · 28/10/2013 16:07

Hello, hello!

Some great losses already I see!

I sneakely weighed on day 5 as I was due my 'Monthly' and after even 5 days it showed a 1 kg loss so I'll take that thanks!

Have had a very social weekend but back on it now and determined to see a good loss next weigh in.

goodbyeyellowbrickroad · 28/10/2013 17:47

Lost 1lb this week which I'm happy with.

Was annoyed with myself yesterday as we ended up having lunch in Ikea which wasn't planned. Blimin meatballs and mash comes in at a whopping 590 calories. If it had kept me satisfied I wouldn't have minded but I was starving by dinner time.

Well done to everyone that lost
