20lbs lighter by Christmas Day, anyone?

notagiraffe · 21/10/2013 14:18

Hi
Got weighed at weekend in one of those places where you can't shift your toes around on the scale to lose half a stone. Bit of a shock. Does anyone want to join me to be 20lb lighter by Christmas?

That's only 2lb a week. We can do it.

Height: 5'4"
Start weight on 21st October: 159lb
Goal Weight on Christmas Day: 139lb

Food Plan: no sugar or processed foods, lots of water, lots of veg and lean protein. Alcohol free on weekdays

Exercise Plan: Daily Shred plus what I already do (fitness class and walks)

Anyone want to join in and add plans, tips, motivators, anything at all to get us there by Christmas Day?

Hello...please can I join?

I'm 5"11 and (gulp) 174 pounds.

GW: 154 pounds I guess, although I'd like it to be around 130 eventually.

I'm at the top end of my BMI and I'm a size 14.

What am I doing? General low cal/ no biscuits, chocolate, crisps, cake etc (although I do frequently slip up on the biscuits) combined with 5:2, which I really suffer through and dislike so it ends up being more 6:1 tbh.

I exercise every day for around half an hour (running)

Looking forward to having you guys to keep me on track!

Question- does anyone else find that their desire for crap food is out of control around the time of their period? I'm usually pretty good at resisting cravings but the desire for fatty, sugary things is insane before & during menstruation. Any idea why this is?!

NaturalBloodsuckerYeahRight · 21/10/2013 19:46

Day one and I fancy a Wine badly, its been a hard day.

it's not good but better than the wine.

mrsbob · 21/10/2013 19:58

I would love to join in please. I've put a few lbs on since the summer and add that to the 2 stone I already needed to lose means hardly anything fits! I really can't afford to buy anything new and don't want to buy the next size up! So losing 20lb by Christmas would mean I could get back into the majority of my wardrobe!! Think I'm going to cut out the crap and try to do the shred or yoga meltdown every day, depending on how achy my knees are.
Good luck!

meerschweinchen · 21/10/2013 20:04

I'd like to join too! I'm 5ft7 and weigh 12 stone 4. My second baby is now 6 weeks old and I need to do something proactive about my weight! I never lost all the weight I put on during my first pregnancy - think I was just waiting for it to automatically fall off! Some did, but certainly not enough, so this time round I really need to do something about it sooner. Would love to lose 20 lbs by Christmas, and hopefully fit into some of my old clothes again! I'm going to cut back on sweet things - cakes, biscuits etc are my weakness - and try to do more exercise.

Mollydoggerson · 21/10/2013 20:04

I'm in too, have eaten crazy amounts of food all weekend and of course topped off with wine and am up a few lbs.

5 foot 7
11 stone 4/5 lbs so lets say 159.
Goal weight 140 lbs (10 stone).

I will swim 3 mornings a week and walk 30 mins a day.

2 litres of water a day, cut out alcohol on school nights and cut our sugar. I will try to limit myself to 1400 calories a day.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 21/10/2013 20:06

Marking place to weigh in tomorrow.

Am sat here debating if my crap diet is causing my tension headaches and migraines. Think I need to go cold turkey on the diet coke. Eeeek.

Yellowcanary- You've done amazingly well. Don't suppose you fancy sharing some meal plans do you pretty please?

KatoPotato · 21/10/2013 20:15

I'm cold turkey-ing Pepsi max. My head throbs!!!

ihatethecold · 21/10/2013 20:21

Hi there. Can I join please,
I've just started the harcombe diet ( not mixing carbs and fat) very low carb Atm.
My starting weight was 10 st 4lbs (144lbs)
I am 5'2"
I walk my dog 3 times a day
I would like to be 9st (126lbs)
So not quite 20lbs needed to be lost!

So far since Friday I've lost 4lbs and I feel ok.

jacq32 · 21/10/2013 20:22

Id love to join in too.

Im 145lb and would love to be 125lb by xmas. Im carrying 20lb of baby weight, id love to be back in my old clothes by xmas!! I plan on low carb and davina dvds on days its too wet to get out.

Love the idea of posting our food diarys and a weekly weigh in!

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 21/10/2013 20:28

Kato-If diet coke gives me headaches then cold turkey-ing will stop the headaches, no? [in my dreams emoticon]

glenthebattleostrich · 21/10/2013 20:30

Me to.

I'm 5'5 and weigh about 170lb. I lost 2 stone on sw this year and it seems to be creeping back :(

The plan is to stick to 3 healthy meals per day, small snacks and keep to the sw plan (without spending 5 pound a week to get weighed!).

Exercise wise - at least a 30 min walk every day and 3 fitness vids per week.

notagiraffe · 21/10/2013 20:40

Very impressed by all these people already walking 4-6 miles a day on the school run. You must all have some lovely toned muscles underneath the excess weight. Think how sculpted you'll look once the weight's gone.

Yellow Canary - thanks for all your tips. Must try this cauli rice - heard so much about it. Think you're right about the sweet cravings. I used to think everything in moderation but am beginning to think that sugar is a real drug.

Just logged all food for the day on mfp and came in at 1200 cals. Will shred once DC are in bed.

notagiraffe · 21/10/2013 20:44

Food diary for today came in on MFP at just under 1200 but didn't feel mean

breakfast: smoothie made of banana, cinnamon and semi skimmed milk
coffee

lunch - home made fat free veg soup
a pear
30g crumbly Lancashire cheese

dinner: lean chicken breast
steamed pak choi greens, mange tout, carrots and peas
small helping of mash made with semi-skimmed milk

9 glasses water, 1 herb tea, 2 cups builders' tea with s-skimmed milk.

Welcome everyone who's joined today. We have ten weeks.

Let's hear about those gorgeous Christmas clothes we're going to be showing off, to keep our focus on the positives.

Kato, I know nothing about cold turkeying - but are you allowed to take something for the headache? If you're not, I recommend feverfew tea. It cures headaches instantly, even if it doesn't taste all that great. Brilliant job on the Pepsi max. It's poison.

notagiraffe · 21/10/2013 20:54

It's 9pm everyone. Step away from the late night feeding troughs.

Still time to squeeze in a shred or some other exercise if you haven't already.

Daily Challenge: Do 10 more ab crunches than you did yesterday.

Hi I want to join in too!

I'm currently 12st 9 and would love to get down to 11st, although 11st 7 would be ok...(I'm 178cm) I was that weight last year until I started uni and piled on 2 stone Hmm I was 13st 8 in January and have managed to lose a stone through calorie counting, but I've lost motivation recently until now.

I've signed up to Slimming World Online (which I started yesterday) and have just come home from a body combat class. I think I might not be able to walk for the next week!

I determined to lose this weight so I can feel good about myself again.

muchwanted · 21/10/2013 21:09

Can I join please. I am 164lb and 5ft 3 would like to lose 10lb by Christmas then another 10lb by Easter. Need to up my exercise and stop snacking.

LovelyMarchHare · 21/10/2013 21:14

Me too pls. Started today.
5' 7''
15 st 8lb this morning

Did really well last year then piled it back on and more.

Have done 30 mins dancing on Wii and eaten ok today. Having a cup of tea and then off to bed so I don't start eating bad stuff.

Good luck everyone.

jonicomelately · 21/10/2013 21:23

I want to join in please. I'm 5'6" and 156 pounds. I'd love to lose 20 pounds but I've no idea how I'll do it yet Smile

Chlorinella · 21/10/2013 21:30

Hallo again .
Just totted up my calories , a bit of guesswork ,
I'm on an app called fat secret (!) and reckon I'm on about 1500 cals
Breakfast = grapes
Lunch = cheese toasties (700 cals ? )
Dinner = home made pork meatballs , sauce , rice , mushrooms and a bit of grated cheese
Snack = 2 hobnobs and cheese
Treat = glass of white well I had to tidy up the fridge
Lots of glasses of tap water , and some black coffees
Over 1500 calories I think , will do better tomorrow

Whojamaflip · 21/10/2013 21:40

OK I'm a bit late but please may I join?

5 ft 4 and 170 lbs

would like to be 140 but I think 30 lbs by Christmas will be pushing it Blush

so will aim for 20 - will dig the shred out tomorrow, avoid my beer and chocolate and look forward to my Christmas dinner with all the trimmings Grin

good luck to you all!

servingwench · 21/10/2013 21:45

In!! I'm doing WW and having completed C25K this year I try and run for 30 mins twice a week (working and kids stop me doing more).
I have lost 10lbs already and I'm 14st 5.5lb (5ft 8") and want to be 12 st. Would be thrilled to be 13st by Crimbo Smile

5madthings · 21/10/2013 21:56

I'm in, I am 5 2 and 10 stone, will be happy to lose 10lb so my size tens fit properly without the muffin top. Ideally I want to be 9stone but am happy with 9stone 5lb as have massive boobs so will never be really slim, but can be a size ten on my bottom half. Have an hour glass figure but too much of a muffin top at no.

Need to stop snbacking and start running again, did couchto10k earlier in the year but have slacked recently, will also do fpdavina DVDs and maybe get shred.

School run is half hour walk each way, so minimum of two hours a day walking.
