New thread, this one WILL work!!!!

OP posts:

LOTI I love leek and potato soup. To mine, I sweat off an onion in a bit of water, add stock, potato and leek, let it bubble away for a bit, blend, then add a bit of milk and black pepper.

Well, after my very controlled week last week, this week is only day 3 for me and I'm already 17 weeklies down out of the 49 allowance. I'm bloody starving on an evening and all I want to eat is carbs, so crisps and cereal are my go to foods. I am feeling a bit grotty though. My nose keeps stinging and my throat feels a bit sore and ear canals are itchy, but it is amounting to nothing. I'm going with the saying of 'feed a cold, starve a fever'.

Luckoftheirish · 14/11/2014 07:17

Down about a pound and a half tho not for being good! Still not going to knock it Smile

velmadinkly · 16/11/2014 10:30

Hi all

Well the grotty feeling turned in the mother of all sore throats, which has left me with an annoying tickly cough. I'm not sleeping too well because of the cough, so I'm still carb mad with a foggy head Confused

I will do my official WI tomorrow morning, but a sneaky peak on Friday showed me at 10st 8.4lb, but I wait until Monday for the official weight.

I did find a top to wear, which I'm pleased about. Hopefully I'll have perked up a bit come Tuesday for the actual award ceremony. I've got the day to myself with DD today because DH is going a once monthly weekend day shift. I think we have got soft play on the cards and I must tidy up the office/back bedroom. It looks like a bombs hit it, ive an excuse to buy magazine file storage things for the journals I'm collecting for my dissertation. The pile is about a foot high now, but I have to go through the whole pile to find the ones I want, so I thought I would sort them into topics to make it a quicker activity once I start writing.

I also fancy a casserole /stew for dinner with dumplings, so I jaunt into the shops after soft play is called for I think. Smile

velmadinkly · 16/11/2014 10:31

I forgot to add before posting, well done on the loss LOTI Grin

SummerSazz · 16/11/2014 20:13

Helooooooooo. I'm back!!! Grin

I was 11.3 on Mon morning so not too bad. However this week has been BAAAAAAD on food - free fry ups, crisps, chocs and beer and my willpower was just not there. It was a very physical week, but knowing how much exercise you need to burn just a few calories, I really think it won't have balanced out.

Sorry to hear you have been poorly Velma and I hope it fecks right off before Tues. Well down on the continued downward trend; I fear we all have a lot to learn from our newcomer Grin

Huzzah for poundage off LOTI but boo for crap weather. I was out in it most days last week so don't want to see another pair of waterproof trousers for a long while yet......

Need to get back to it. Tomorrow, tomorrow

Fjorny/DrG how are you guys????

SummerSazz · 17/11/2014 19:34

Arse. I did log in this morning at 11.8 . Today ok but not as strict as I need to be Hmm

Luckoftheirish · 18/11/2014 07:08

Sazz I am sure most of that is water weight and fingers crossed for a big whoosh this am!

Not doing much here myself Blush too busy to to exercise which is no excuse really and grab food here and there which again in no good lol

Well it's 38 days to Xmas oops Grin

SummerSazz · 18/11/2014 23:32

No weigh in this morning as too scared Grin

No run either but 2.5 mike walk which is better than nowt Hmm

Pub this evening but driving so just a grapefruit and soda and half a lager for me

No motivation for gym tomorrow but will try and push ahead.....

SummerSazz · 19/11/2014 07:40

11.4 this morning. Not too horrific but I have been stuck around here for weeks.

Must. Do. Better.

Velma - how was the award ceremony?? Did you have lots of lovely food and fizz? Hope you had a great time and rocked the top.

SummerSazz · 19/11/2014 09:49

10.12 on gym scales. On treadmill now - still zero motivation Hmm

SummerSazz · 19/11/2014 10:52
  • 5 mins powerplate
HotMamas - Five years on, are we fit or are we fat???
SummerSazz · 19/11/2014 16:21

2.5 mile walk Smile

Luckoftheirish · 19/11/2014 16:57

You are on fire sazz GrinGrinGrin and pleased to see the scales have gone back down in the right direction!

Managing school run walks but apart from that .......BlushBlushBlushBlush

SummerSazz · 19/11/2014 17:31

There was a slight at the gym Grin

velmadinkly · 19/11/2014 19:49

Well I did a WI on Monday morning and imweighed at 10st 10lb, so it looks as though I fit right into the group Grin

The award ceremony was good, nice sandwiches and little cakes, but no fizz because I had to drive. I'm now the bearer of a nice certificate and an £80 Blackwells voucher. We don't have a blackwells in my town, but they do online. I had a look at their books and boy are they expensive. I don't know whether I should try and sell it on ebay and have a loss or just buy stuff to get it spent.

Is there such a website to swap vouchers? I'd definately swap it for John Lewis vouchers.

I can't stop eating bloody biscuits! I'm going to tell DH to not buy any when he does the shopping, oh and the vending machine near my office, which is literally 20 steps from my desk has peanut M & M's in it. I can see me breaking the 11st barrier at this rate Shock

The sore throat has gone, with only a smidge of irritating cough left, my new student card has come through so I suppose there is nothing stopping me going for a swim (I get £2 off per swim at the leisure centre with the card)

SummerSazz · 19/11/2014 20:07

Gals to hear the evening went well Velma - I think I'd just spend the vouchers tbh. Swapping/selling all sounds like a load of hassle IMO. Is there anything you actually want or could you use for Xmas pressies?

Also if you feel the need to tip over into 11, don't waste your money on m&m's as I can post you a set of magical scales feckin things GrinGrin

No busyit temptation here, just meals out/birthdays etc scuppering my resolve which is probably pretty flakey at the best of times Hmm

Am going to try and restart 10 min morning exercises just so I at least get some sit ups in to start to address the attractive stomach apron I have procured....

DoctorGilbertson · 22/11/2014 19:37

Not doing brilliantly, but down this week to 12.10

New job OK. I have been driving, so not good on exercise after all. Have a work Christmas dinner in a couple of weeks. My sister is going to come and stay and DH and I are going to go out dancing afterwards. I am very excited about that!

Oh but the kids did brilliantly in their swimming exams today and both swam a width. they get another go next week to see if they can get their arms right too!

velmadinkly · 23/11/2014 10:38

I'm back to where I started at 10st 11.4lb. I've really got to do something because I'm starting to feel unhappy in myself my jeans are starting to feel tight and I feel all jiggly, I've cultivated a wonderful muffin top.Blush

Oh well, here's to another week. I hope everyone is feeling a bit more upbeat than I am. I'm sure i'll soon shake it off though.

Other than the award ceremony, I got my grade for my last module and I got 68%, so near yet so far from a distinction.

I need to start my Christmas shopping, but the majority is for DD and she is always with me. I'm going to take her into town to get a 'letter to Santa' pack and she can write her list. She has started one on plain piece of paper and it must have about 30 things on it. She is aware that you don't get everything off the list, but there are things on the list that she asked for last year which she didn't get, so I'm sure we could get her them (a skateboard and a guitar) but we'll get her a ukuele instead, because the Sue Ryder shop have them new for £15.

SummerSazz · 25/11/2014 20:06

Oh bloody hell, I'm with you on the uncomfortable muffin top Velma. Gah!!!
Sacked off a run today to go Xmas shopping and the one shop I really went for has closed down . The rest is seriously coming from Amazon as I CBA with the shops. Not even bought any Xmas cards yet Hmm

Busy weekend with dd1's birthday and work has been stupidly busy. I really don't know if I'm coming or going and managed to miss a conference call tonight so starting to drop balls Arse.

The answer would be to not go to the gym tomorrow & then much needed haircut but to work instead. However I'll just be even more pissed off that I missed my exercise (currently the only one of the week) and then be even more pissed off.

Can I just go and rock in a corner?? Surely that burns some calories Grin

DrG - a night out dancing with dh sounds just brilliant Smile. My dh won't dance as he says I laugh at him for being uncoordinated. Oops Blush

Fjorny/LOTI - how are you guys??

Luckoftheirish · 26/11/2014 11:10

Been to the gym for the first time since July Blush all the equipment has changedBlush did 35 mins cardio and a few token sit ups... In a lot of pain now Grin

SummerSazz · 26/11/2014 13:13

Ha ha that made me feel better LOTI. Sorry!!!

I bailed on the gym as I have so much work and home shit to sort that it's getting to me. So I decided lifting a metaphorical weight from my shoulders was probably more beneficial than actual weight.

I've sorted the really urgent stuff which is a relief and am now in the bath taking 1hr out to relax before I have to head back to school for an open afternoon. Much as I love these things, they are a slight pita!

SummerSazz · 28/11/2014 20:33

Well no 'proper' exercise but I have done my 10k steps. Managed a paltry 5 mins exercise this morning so see if I can improve on that next week!

Away for weekend and phone currently not working so probably won't be posting till Mon.

have a great weekend all.....

FjorGynAndHotWater · 01/12/2014 12:55

OK so this had fallen off threadS I'm on BlushBlush I just can't seem to find my mojo and getting fatter almost by the day . Was 12 8 on Friday, 12 13 today, and belly sticking out of every dress I own...

So, not long to go till the annual stupid food/drink overload and I haven't built up my buffer zone yet, eek. Going to try really hard for next two weeks and see if I can't get a bit nearer to 12 stone which is what I got down to before last Christmas and easter and before the summer holidays... 3lb a week, that's easy right????

Missed you guys, hope you're all feeling fit and gorgeous Smile

Luckoftheirish · 01/12/2014 13:25

Heyyyy fjorny GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

I too had a wtf morning lol Grin

So I am sticking to three meals a day logging on mfp and and going to shred level 1 8 days level 2 8 days and level 3 8 days which bring me to 24th dec!

So school walk done, shred done (omg so hard) and breakfast and lunch logged!

Bring it on!!!!

velmadinkly · 01/12/2014 18:55

Just checking in. I'm right off it, but still no bigger than when I started. I do think I just need to get my head down from now until Christmas, although we did get some quality street at the weekend, but they are nearly all gone.

Thankfully, I've had to pull out of my works Christmas do because the meal is too early and i've got nobody to babysit. I now don't have to suffer the crowds in the pub, have people tell me to 'oh go on and have another drink' (i'm not a big drinker at all), or eat food I really don't want and most importantly get in late to then have to get up at the crack of dawn in Saturday to take DD to her swimming lesson for 9am and then onto dancing lessons until 12.30pm.

DH has listened intently and has not bought any biscuits in this weeks shopping, so less temptation in the house.
