OK I have had for too many days 'off' the diet recently and am in danger of undoing all my previous good work. I am currently creeping up to 12st, which is a weight I promised myself I'd never be again, and so I would love to lose about 2st by Christmas - anything in the very low tens would be AMAZING.
So I am going to:

  • Restart the Shred - I've not been as bad at this as I could have been but for one reason or another have had lots of days off. I was enjoying (in a masochistic way) level 2 and so need to carry on
  • Calorie count again, but not try to eat ridiculously low calories (was often at 600-700)
  • Eat meals and no chocolate until I sit down for the evening
  • Remember why I'm doing this. Diabetes, joint pain, heart attack - all less risky than when I was over 16st but still an issue.
  • Go shopping when I am nearing my target - I did this in the summer and really enjoyed buying clothes I thought I looked good in as opposed to how shopping has always been for me - what do I need, and what do I look least worst in? That'll do.

And I'm going to use this thread for motivation. I will report in. Feel free to mock me if I'm not here - it means I am slipping up and face down in a box of haribo
(for the kids, obviously)

Right, feels like a confession. I'm 4ft 11 and weigh 11 stone- two stone heavier than I'd like to be and my pre-baby weight. Only he's now 2 so can't blame baby weight! I'm guilty of all above, especially skipping breakfast and lunch then mainlining chocolate/crisps in evening. I haven't got time to join the gym (and would probably spend time in jacuzzi convincing myself it was exercise to be honest) so I'm going hard core with the shredd starting tomorrow, then digging out the weight watcher cookbooks gathering dust in my cupboard. I'm thinking of using child plates too to help my portions as I eat same as dh which is ridiculous as I am height of 11 year old!

Feels better just saying all that!

Ladies I'm in!

Caffe1neAddict · 29/09/2013 21:43

Thermolobster- that's a v good about myfitnesspal. I have ww cookbooks but not system to use them but think meetings would be too hard for me to always get to. Although scared to find out what my calorie intake actually is! Need to get it sorted though- nothing hurts more than your child poking your stomach and singing "wibble wobble jelly on a plate" Blush

EnglishRose1320 · 30/09/2013 07:15

Thanks thermolobster I shall have a look.

Is the shred likely to be okay for s

EnglishRose1320 · 30/09/2013 07:15

Somebody with back problems?

Whatsthatnoise · 30/09/2013 09:56

Hi can I join you? I would like to lose at least 1.5 stones by Christmas. I'm 5"10 and 15stone9pounds.

I joined MFP at the start of the year but never really used it, I have did a bit of 5:2 and a bit of low carb since January and I lost 1.5stone but I've put half a stone back on through stress eating and laziness.

I really need to get healthy and fit, I have a 4year old with a physical disability which means lots of lifting and I managed to do my back in on Monday.

I need to strengthen my core and also set a good example to my daughter. I bought the 30 day shred a few months ago but loaned it to a friend, as soon as my back is better I'm getting back on it. if the dr says I can

Pinkpinot · 01/10/2013 09:23

Welcome Whatsthatnoise-and Caffeine- have no knowledge of the shred, looked at it briefly online, looks good. i will be off to the gym next week, because my mil is coming to stay!!

EnglishRose1320 · 01/10/2013 09:45

Well done Pinkpinot, I think I have lost a couple of lbs this week but have very old dodgy scales so not sure- must get some new ones! Welcome Whatstgatnoise, my aim is about 11/2 by Christmas, I wanted to loose 2 but I think if I try and loose that much too quickly I will just put it straight back on again.

Beechview · 01/10/2013 10:16

Well done Pinkpinot

I haven't lost anything this week but I've only got myself to blame.
I've been doing the Shred and am on day 6 today so hopefully I'm getting toned. I'm upping my efforts regarding the diet too.

I'm getting v fed up of looking blobby. I've got some really nice dresses in the closet which would look so nice with boots this winter but I can't get into them Sad I need to lose a stone to be able to do that.

Englishrose I don't think Shred would be good for someone with back problems. Theres a lot of squatting, bending and jumping.

TheArticFunky · 01/10/2013 10:18

Well done PinkPinot that's excellent!

SunshineandShandy · 01/10/2013 11:27

I lost 1lb this week, so 13lb in total. But I am now in the 12's so that's something! Tonight I am doing boot camp. I know I need to do more exercise so this will be a start at least.

SunshineandShandy · 01/10/2013 11:28

Well done PinkPinot!

EnglishRose1320 · 01/10/2013 11:34

Well done Sunshine- I am slowly creeping back into the 12's.
what would people recommend exercise wise for someone with a bad back, atm I am just walking a lot more rather than driving to places. Would love to go swimming but can only ever go with the children so don't really get to swim much. Needs to be something I can do at home in the evenings.

Whatsthatnoise · 01/10/2013 11:36

Well done PinkPinot and Sunshine.

I doubt I'm going to lose anything until I go back to work

Beechview · 01/10/2013 11:43

Well done Sunshine
I've also been creeping back into 12's and am now 12 trousers but 14 top - mostly down to bfing! My belly is big though and really, I should be a size 8 for my height (5'2")

Englishrose Walking is great exercise so carry on with that. Have you tried any yoga or pilates dvds? Although not fat burning, they will tone really well and they can be good for backs. I'm no expert but I had a work colleague with a very bad back and he would cycle and do pilates. He said the pilates really helped his back. I'm sure a class full of women didn't hurt either!

Beechview · 01/10/2013 11:44

whatsthatnoise are you on mat leave?

RippingYarns · 01/10/2013 12:00

some great results here, well done everyone!

Pink, glad you're on the downward, helping you upwards Grin

i'm going for a weigh-in today.. fingers crossed

travellingwilbury · 01/10/2013 12:46

Can I join too ?

I have been going to the gym ( sometimes ) and trying to think more about my diet but it isnt bloody working .

Because I am not doing it properly , I have just weighed myself and I am 13.4 1/2 , bugger and bollocks .

I have lost count of how often I have been here , I do well for the girst half stone and then manage to bugger it all up again .

help ?

Beechview · 01/10/2013 13:52

Travellingwilbury I'm exactly the same. I find it really difficult to diet. Its like I have zero willpower.

In the past, the things that have helped (which I'm trying to adopt again) is;

enough sleep. I always mess up my diet if I've had a rubbish night.

Trying to be really strict with meal times and eating only then. If I want some choc or crisps, I can have them with my lunch and dinner. If I 'allow' myself these foods then often after lunch/dinner, I don't want them.

lots of water. like at least a big glass every hr. As soon as I've had a glass, I refill it and leave it ready.

Plan all meals and make sure they're ready before the meal time so I'm not tempted to pick at things.

Keep busy. Do some exercise. Go for a walk. Do an activity with the kids. Read a book. Watch a film with a cup of tea. Anything just not sitting and eating!

Try a pair of jeans/dress/whatever you want to fit into next every morning before you put your clothes on. It seems to put me in the right mindframe. The feeling you get when you can finally do it up is amazing.

Hopefully some of that will be helpful. Fingers crossed!!

travellingwilbury · 01/10/2013 14:01

Thanknyou beechview , the water one is something I am trying to do and I really need to get organised earlier for dinner . I often dont eat dinner until 8pm which is too late and means I tend to snack when the kids have tea .

The other thing that is a stumbling block is the booze . Not just the calories in it but the willpower failing after the first glass so I am going to try and keep off the wine mon to thurs .

Beechview · 01/10/2013 14:14

I used to snack with the kids and then eat late. Now I just eat with them. We chat about their day and its really nice. When dh comes home, I'll sit and chat with him but I don't eat with him. He hasn't really noticed!

Definitely a good idea to cut the drinking. You'll do much better without it every day.

RippingYarns · 01/10/2013 16:45

wooohooo!! another lb off!

and i went out for pub lunch on saturday and had a huge plate of profiteroles with DD on saturday night

5:2 works for me Grin

Whatsthatnoise · 01/10/2013 18:32

No beechview off sick because I've hurt my back. I'm signed off till the 9th but might go back earlier if I'm up to it.

Well done ripping might give 5:2 another go myself

ThermoLobster · 01/10/2013 20:38

Well done Ripping! Nearly broke tonight and ordered Dominos, but had omelette and salad instead.

Beechview · 01/10/2013 21:05
