I want to lose 2stone by Christmas! Ripping and others I need you!

OK I have had for too many days 'off' the diet recently and am in danger of undoing all my previous good work. I am currently creeping up to 12st, which is a weight I promised myself I'd never be again, and so I would love to lose about 2st by Christmas - anything in the very low tens would be AMAZING.
So I am going to:

  • Restart the Shred - I've not been as bad at this as I could have been but for one reason or another have had lots of days off. I was enjoying (in a masochistic way) level 2 and so need to carry on
  • Calorie count again, but not try to eat ridiculously low calories (was often at 600-700)
  • Eat meals and no chocolate until I sit down for the evening
  • Remember why I'm doing this. Diabetes, joint pain, heart attack - all less risky than when I was over 16st but still an issue.
  • Go shopping when I am nearing my target - I did this in the summer and really enjoyed buying clothes I thought I looked good in as opposed to how shopping has always been for me - what do I need, and what do I look least worst in? That'll do.

And I'm going to use this thread for motivation. I will report in. Feel free to mock me if I'm not here - it means I am slipping up and face down in a box of haribo
(for the kids, obviously)

Weigh- in day for me today.

I only lost 1lb. Very disappointed I have eaten very well this week and started the shred.

Losing a is still better than not losing though. Keep going, it means you are getting it right.

Well done! If you only lost a pound a week for a year it would add up to 52lbs so don't knock it :)
Besides, starting the shred may have increased some muscle mass.

I had half a bagel today outside of my planned food. I need to be careful as I always seem to get a bit slack as the weekend approaches and during the weekend. I always end up undoing the good work for the week. Must stay strong!

gah! I did the Shred dvd just before lunch. I had a nice healthy lunch of spicy chick pea and tomato soup and yoghurt then ended up eating a packet of crisps and a couple of biscuits.
I know this is because I'm tired (have been up since around 3 thanks to non sleeping baby). I always find it hard to control my eating when I'm tired. Plus with it being the weekend, I'm going to have to muster up as much willpower as I can to not undo all my good work.
Any tips?

Don't beat yourself up about the crisps/biscuits, just carry on as you were. The worst thing for me is thinking I have had a bad day so I'll carry on eating and start tomorrow, tomorrow never comes!

I do actually eat more at the weekend that way I don't feel like I'm on a diet. My TDEE is around 1500 and I generally consume that on a Friday and Saturday. Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday I allow myself 1200 and my 500 calorie days are Monday and Thursday. On a Thursday I don't mind eating a little because I know that the next day I can have wine and chocolate!

Another 2lb off this week, so 4lb in total. Pretty pleased with that. Finding it easy as well, not sure if that is the hypnosis, but not missing any food or drink at the moment.

Well done Thermo Smile.

I'm having wine as well Thermo. If you deprive yourself of something you just want it more. If I want something I have it and because I know I can have what I want I find that I don't actually want that much iyswim.

Right, I had 2 very small glasses of wine and I feel very hungover, what's all that about? Banging headache, sick and shaky

RippingYarns · 28/09/2013 09:02

Pink, I rarely drink more than one glass because of that, even before I started on this health kick, sometimes half a bottle of wine would render me useless the next day, no idea why, but since alcohol is not essential (but nice) I just keep my intake to a minimum unless I've got the next day off never

On your other issue, did you get to grips with the calorie thing?

Welcome EnglishRose. We have got all sorts going on in terms of weight loss methods on this thread. I am just being sensible in terms of treats, cut out weeknight wine drinking, avoiding excessive simple / strarchy carbs and have also done the Hypnotic Gastric Band. Not got around to exercising yet. Lost 4 lbs in two weeks, well actually 5 lbs as at today.

Twiglets - I used to do WW and save all my points for wine! And was vey succesful for quite a while. Am attempting to be a tad more healthy this time!

I've tried ww and found it worked really well if I went to meetings each week but I had to sort out childcare so it became too pricey/tricky. Need to find something I can do at home that works around the children. Atm I am cutting out unhealthy snacks and eating smaller portion sizes, plus we have just moved house and can now walk the school run rather than drive which helps.

I am doing WW online EnglishRose1320. I think going to a class is better, but I can't where I live, so online it is. I use the tracking app on my phone and it's brilliant. Might be worth looking at if you found WW works for you.

I am having a good week. Thursday was hard and I used all my extra points in 1 day, but back on it and hoping for at least 1lb loss on Tuesday. If I can lose 2lb that will be my first stone off, leaving me 12 weeks (until Xmas Eve) to lose another one.

I was over 1200 yesterday, and probably today too, but if I'm still way under 1700/1800 should I still consider that a good day?
Cos I feel like a failure cos I was doing so well

Pink

I'm confused as to what system you're doing.

If you are fasting 5:2 you only need to calorie count on your fast days, the other ones just eat normally, obviously not 3 cream cakes and a multi pack of crisps, your fasting days take care of the calorie counting and kick your metabolism into using fat reserves you have.

If you are using a calorie controlled diet, where you have a daily allowance, these should be carefully worked out with different food groups etc to make sure you are still getting a balanced intake

Some of your daily totals seem very low to me

Pinkpinot · 29/09/2013 18:23

Not doing 5.2
Just trying to stick to 1200 cals
Usually works out to about 1300

How much is WW online- is it the same as the meetings?

Report
ThermoLobster · 29/09/2013 19:58

EnglishRose I used to do ww online. It is quite expensive. I would look at myfitnesspal as v similar functionality, but free.
