I want to lose 2stone by Christmas! Ripping and others I need you!

OK I have had for too many days 'off' the diet recently and am in danger of undoing all my previous good work. I am currently creeping up to 12st, which is a weight I promised myself I'd never be again, and so I would love to lose about 2st by Christmas - anything in the very low tens would be AMAZING.
So I am going to:

  • Restart the Shred - I've not been as bad at this as I could have been but for one reason or another have had lots of days off. I was enjoying (in a masochistic way) level 2 and so need to carry on
  • Calorie count again, but not try to eat ridiculously low calories (was often at 600-700)
  • Eat meals and no chocolate until I sit down for the evening
  • Remember why I'm doing this. Diabetes, joint pain, heart attack - all less risky than when I was over 16st but still an issue.
  • Go shopping when I am nearing my target - I did this in the summer and really enjoyed buying clothes I thought I looked good in as opposed to how shopping has always been for me - what do I need, and what do I look least worst in? That'll do.

And I'm going to use this thread for motivation. I will report in. Feel free to mock me if I'm not here - it means I am slipping up and face down in a box of haribo
(for the kids, obviously)

The classes are on YouTube in full.

You do need good support shoes, and weights - a bottle of water is what I used to start with, but make sure you can hold it comfortably.

I also recommend clothes to cover any flab so it's not off putting when i see it bouncing about

Beechview you are a similar size to me. In what way did your figure change when you did the shred before and how much weight did you lose?

ArcticFunky I was just under 11st when I did Shred last and didn't really diet so only lost 4lbs (looked like I'd lost much more) but after 14 days of doing it, my figure really start to get shapely. My waist was redefined and smoothed out, tummy was flatter, bum was less saggy and just basically better toned all over.
Dh's eyes boggled when he saw me in less clothes and was shocked at such a difference in just a couple of weeks.
I'd love to get that reaction from him again :)

I had a good day today - porridge, lamb burgers + veg, Chicken curry
1hr walk no time for Shred today unfortunately.

Weigh-in day today

I am terrified of being judged, why did I agree to this?

Hope it's a good result Ripping. I lost 3lbs this week so am very pleased. 12lbs gone so if I can lose 2 more by next week that's my first stone. Will give me 12 weeks to lose my next one in time for Christmas which should be possible if I really work at it.

Am cycling tonight. Not been on a bike for ages but am hiring one to cycle round a race track. Think I might just nearly die!

This disappeared off my threads so only just seen! Well done Ripping and well done Sunshine! I lost another pound over the last few days so 3 lbs in total, although official weigh in day on Friday. Was a bit naughty last night because I was working all evening on my laptop - crazy time at work - so couldn't be bothered to cook properly - had pizza and salad! It was only half a thin one but still disappointed. Its all about being organised for me. I hadn't got anything out of the freezer and hadn't sorted out the slow cooker so ended up having nothing healthy that I could have quickly. Also had a meeting with lunch provided and it was all sandwiches which wasn't ideal. But hey ho, back on the regime today! Good luck all who are weighing in over next few days.

Good progress Thermo, good luck for Friday

I just wanted to ask if anyone is tired?
I feel utterly exhausted. Slept for 3 hours on Monday
Not sure I'm getting this right!

Look, all the motivation you need is knowing how good you look when you're slimmer and how much better you feel.
Eat a small breakfast , me when dieting just two slices of toast and jam/marmalade. Very small lunch tuna with a bit of salad and lean chicken baked in foil and veg but no potatoes till you reach your desired weight.

Take exercise!! Can't stress how important this is. Walk a lot - briskly and or join classes. Hold yourself upright and go for it. Many years ago I was size 14 and growing but just took the decision, joined an exercise class and I've never been more thansize 12 since. I still have to exercise regularly and walk every day, it's a way of life now.
Nobody has to be fat one just needs old fashioned willpower- it works!
Good luck, don't give in.

i sort of understand what you're saying Dogwalker but if it was really all about just 'knowing how good you look' we wouldn't be battling with weight

in fact, by making it all about looking good, that reinforces how badly some people feel, which would certainly send me shuffling to the biscuit tin

At the moment I'm just finding it hard because I know what a long slog I've got
But I can actually feel the difference within a week and a half.
I wish I'd taken my measurements at the beginning, they'd be showing a difference I'm sure

come on Pink we can do this!

how much do you want to lose?

to be healthy (BMI and all that jazz) i need to lose 3st.

i have lost 5lbs, and while that's not much in the grand scheme of things, it's 5lbs nearer losing that 3st.

just had a scroll back, are you eating enough? 1400 is very low, especially if you've been to the gym

Report
Pinkpinot · 26/09/2013 13:44

Haven't been to the gym yet, I hurt my knee last year( getting fit, playing tennis) so I have to be careful. Should be doing physio and exercises first
I just want to get a good couple of weeks under my belt
I need to lose about 5 stone. Blush
From experience I don't lose anything unless I take the calorie intake low
Aim for 1200, and I think it ends up about 1400 just with fruit etc
I also get very shaky and headachy so I find it v difficult
There's nothing wrong with blood pressure etc.

Report
RippingYarns · 26/09/2013 13:47

shaky is a sign your blood sugar is dipping too low

have you looked at the 5:2 plan?

Report
Beechview · 26/09/2013 14:19

Hi everyone.
I finally managed to do the shred dvd today! Its hard but short. I'm going to try to do it everyday.
Food wise, I've managed to stick to my plan so far.

Pinkpinot I get that shaky thing when I first start a diet. I usually get it around 5ish so I just end up eating something. What do you eat on a typical diet day? You should be able to lose on a fairly good calorie count apparently. Have you looked at working out your TDEE?
I've not had that shaky feeling at all this time as I've cut back on carbs not calories. I have one carb meal a day and 2 non carbs. I can't do no carbs.

Report
Pinkpinot · 26/09/2013 18:31

What's TDEE?
Not done 5.2, don't know that much about it, and I think I'd just feel dreadful on 500cals
So usual diet day would be cereal- weetabix, porridge. Mid morning snack maybe banana & yoghurt, lunch has been 2 boiled eggs, one piece wholemeat toast, no butter, or maybe soup and a roll.
Afternoon maybe a couple of tangerines/ melon
Then for dinner, have had homemade chicken stew, lots of veggies in there or V small jacket potato beans and tiny grated cheese, just had big ham salad sandwich tonight(really boring!)

No biscuits, crisps, butter( big downfall)

Report
Pinkpinot · 26/09/2013 19:07

Figured out TDEE, it's 2121
So if I eat 1100 per day, I save 7000 cals a week so that's 2lb? Is that right?

I fell off the wagon for 2 days, it was my birthday....how can I put on 4lbs in 48 hrs, yet took me a month to lose that amount???? Not supposed to be weigh day til sunday anyway, but couldnt resist beating myself!
back on board now, onwards and upwards eh?

Report
Beechview · 26/09/2013 20:37

Pinkpinot Your food sounds good. You're meant to eat under your TDEE but above your BMR. 1200 cals is often too low for most people.
Here's a link to someone who's explained it.

singarainbow don't worry about 4lbs in 48hrs. Its not going to be 4lbs of fat!. It'll be the weight of the food and some water probably! If you gain it quickly, you can lose it quickly.
