Hi all!! (waves!)

Cant believe our last thread filled up so quickly!

For those of you who don't know us, the 'Avoid the Quiche' Quiche is a group of people who all want to lose a substantial amount of weight (no coming on here complaining about the half a stone you desperately need to lose, thanks very much!) We all have different personal goals and reasons for wanting to lose weight, whether it be for a special holiday coming up, to aid fertility or to be healthier. This thread is a place to share your highs and lows, talk to like minded people, get encouragement and offer support to others when they need it!

Official weigh in day is Wednesday- Slimmer of the week will get a virtual bunch of flowers, woohoo!! Flowers

I personally am aiming to lose 6 stone. It wont be easy but i've got a great bunch of ladies behind me keeping me focused and for that i'm very grateful! Smile

I don't even go clothes shopping anymore, it is too depressing. All my shopping is done online but them I end up keeping things that don't suit me or don't fit properly because returning them is too much of a faff.

I don't go clothes shopping anymore- it's depressing even before its begun. I have a wedding in 3 weeks and I'm putting off buying an outfit- tho I'm also hoping and praying I'll be down to a size 16 by then Wink

Henrietta if you can afford it iggi.com in the usa have some beautiful dresses for special occassions. Bit ott for anything I've ever needed to go to but maybe worth a look. They also have a sale section.

And remember 2 muffins is better than 4 ;-)

Deffo agree that weigh at the same time every week. I'm getting my scales this weekend but I'm weighing at my friends again next week so I can see if I have made any progress.

Not for weddings but for general clothes I get stuff from yours clothing, they are fairly cheap and cheerful but they look fine for work and casual days.

Mia - I do that with online shopping!

I am finding a new found love for shopping, but don't want to spend too much because I will (see I am being postive) be dropping at least one more dress size

I'm a 20 at the minute! 2 c sections so have a flabby belly and quite paranoid about my upper arms, thanks to my mother pointing out how huge they are at every opportunity! Was hoping to spend no more than £30/£35- still have wedding present to buy and pay for accommodation Blush

Henrietta :( Don't be too hard on yourself. You cannot weigh yourself, at Boots, at random times of the day then compare week to week. You need to buy those scales or go to Boots wearing roughly the same things, at roughly the same time (preferably early in the day). I weigh daily, it works for me as I can see all the ups & downs. Week to week doesn't give you that, but it's not good for everyone to do that, it derails a lot of people - each to their own :)

I have lost 40 lbs since the end of January (low carbing). However, I have been 'stuck' at (roughly) this weight for about 12 weeks now. But I haven't actually stayed the same weight, I have gone up and down, up and down - the same 7 lbs. IF I had just weighed weekly I wouldn't have seen it looking like this ^^^ just like this -- and I can't draw it on here, but it is, very very very very slowly going down.

I am hoping that it starts to take off again soon. I totally believe in eating, for life, low carb and it has saved me from having diabetes medication (just be diet controlled) and I'm hoping to reduce my insulin resistance and be able to eat a few carbs without my bgl going sky high.

So, to reach my target weight (about three quarters of a stone heavier than I was at my 'ideal' weight before, so I think it's a good/realistic goal) I started needing to lose 140lb, 10 (scary) stone. I have lost the 40, now the 100 to see off (so 7 stone still).

But, I have reached the point you talked about before, the bit where you can go out for lunch/dinner/supermarket and not feel like everyone is judging. It is lovely. I am under no illusion At All that some people will still be judging, it's just that it's not the over-riding feeling when I am out anymore. Which is nice and it happened at a much higher weight than I thought it would - so (and finally to get to the point of me telling you all of this!! LOL) maybe you aren't too far away from feeling this way too :)

Henrietta, try //www.very.co.uk for a dress. Some of the stuff is very flattering, it's my new favourite clothes shop. Plus they have a sale.

I want to be able to shop in normal shops. I'm a 20, sometimes an 18 depending on the cut. I've had three sections and my blancmange belly makes me sob. I said to DH the other night that I would be more confident if I didn't have the huge overhang.

Welcome trinity. It's good your DH is doing it with you. I've found that having someone close to you do g it as well helps. My DH is trying to be healthier, he is slightly overweight, has a BMI of 28 but at 6'4 he carries it alright. Not like me, 5'5 of quivering lard.

Hello, please can I join you?

I don't have half a stone to lose - more like half a body Blush.

But I'm determined now - have just read The Bitter Truth About Sugar and will be putting it into practise once home from my holidays. It's basically low carb, good proteins/fat and as little sugar as possible!

Have to do this for my boys as they can run rings round me now and I feel sad I'm too embarrassed to do things like swimming with them Sad.

Lego - I have a massive overhang and can't even blame having had any c-sections Confused. It (literally!) stands out in the photos from my hols (the ones I haven't destroyed). I know it will never be flat but am hoping it will at least be able to be squished properly into pants eventually.

I didn't realise how much weight some people have already lost - fantastic and very inspirational.

I lost 1lb this week which is a bit pathetic but, truthfully, I was not really putting the effort in. I will now as have a big work event in 7 weeks.

Henrietta - pah, you are an amateur, I have put 6lbs on overnight before. Truly, you will win this battle in the long-run. I know it gets mentioned a lot now on MN but LadyVLondon do some gorgeous dresses at reasonable prices. I am going to buy one myself when my clothes ban is at an end (need to save money and lose weight first).

Good luck for the next week all!

Oh crap! Sorry. //www.yoursclothing.co.uk. Have a poorly little boy clinging to me and not thinking straight.

We are the house of vomit. Ds2 has come back from respite and promptly vomited, followed 10 minutes later by ds3. Just what I need for the end of the holidays!
