Today is a big day for me, a turning point! I've always been 'big' however have just been getting bigger and bigger. I want to lose 6 stone- starting from today.

Anyone else in the same boat who would like to swap inspiration and tips? Today I've planned to eat healthily and go for a nice long walk Grin

Hi all. Can I join? I've got to lose 6.5st, my BMI is 41. I'm getting married next April, I joined Slimming World on Tues.

It seems like such a huge task, doesn't it? How to get through the months ahead, how to retrain my eating habits?

SW gave me a target to lose 10% of my body weight, which sound sensible and achievable.

But I've got a freezer full of ice cream and sausages (I'm a staunch meal-planner). How can I ignore the food I've got in stock and go out to buy a load more (healthier).

mameulah · 08/08/2013 20:57

Just to say this is a great thread.

Can I join too please?

HenriettaPye · 08/08/2013 21:19

All welcome, it does seem like such a mammoth task however I think you just come to a point where you think 'Right enough is enough, my health is suffering and I need to do this!'
That's exactly the point I'm at at the minute.

Crap day today too, hence I've been keeping quiet on here. I started out well and then it went tits up (was out, ice cream issues Blush) So am pissed off with myself now as well as everything else.

Hey ho, tomorrow is another day...

EnglishGirlApproximately · 08/08/2013 21:33

Just checking in, added and accepted mfp requests today. Having an ok day food wise and was just under my target but Dp just poured me a cider so will be slightly over Blush. No time for exercise today so planning extra long walk tomorrow to make up for it.

My calorie goal is 1400 a day and before I started tracking I was eating about 2200 so its a big cut. Not feeling hungry on 1400 but still having too many carbs in the mix so need to make that my next big change. Good luck for tomorrow everyone.

cq · 08/08/2013 21:50

Onetiredmummy I'm only at level1,day 8 but so far I've only come across one clock jumping exercise and you could just do lunges instead.

I suffer with plantar fasciitis so can't be doing too much leaping myself.

Gwen don't feel bad about the ice cream issues. As I was locking up I somehow found myself on the outside of a packet of crisps Confused

Willpower is rubbish at this time of night so I've put myself to bed with a book.

Night all Smile

Just downloaded the gorilla workout- workout 1 on level 1 done- and I'm exhausted!!

OP posts:
mameulah · 08/08/2013 22:11

What is the gorilla workout?

EnglishGirlApproximately · 08/08/2013 22:30

Just downloaded it and its not too daunting, looks like a gradual build up so I'll start it from tomorrow. Mame its an app with quick workouts.

Sirzy · 08/08/2013 22:33

This is my type of thread!

I had 6 stone to lose, nearly lost 2 in the last 3 months. Would love to reach my target by next may but think that may be a bit ambitious.

I have even joined a gym which for me is a massive step!

clarinetV2 · 08/08/2013 22:37

OK, I've been following this thread and mulling over asking to join. I wish I'd had the confidence to start one like it a year ago! I'm nearly at the end of my 6-stone marathon (my weight loss rate is now very slow so I reckon I've got around two more months to go) but even though I'm nearly there, I feel I've got much more in common with you guys than with people on some of the other threads who only had a small amount to lose in the first place. I started at 15 stone 2, I'm aiming at 9 stone 2 and I've got about half a stone to go. Does that qualify me for the quiche?

HenriettaPye · 08/08/2013 22:51

Fantastic Sirzy- you are doing great!

Aw clarinet we would love to have you! I know what you mean- its very disheartening reading other threads and people complaining that they 'desperately' need to lose literally a few pounds. I need to lose at least 6 STONE! All the ladies here are fabulous, and we are all on the same kind of journey- everyone has their own personal reasons for doing it but our goals are the same- to be fitter, happier within ourselves and healthier.

Congrats on such a fantastic weightloss- very inspirational! Smile

KOTK · 08/08/2013 23:07

Did someone mention quiche?

I'm somewhat overqualified for this as I'm 5ft 3" and currently weigh 22st 8lbs. BMI 54.2 hangs head in shame

According to the charts a healthy weight for my height is somewhere between 7.7 and 10st, so I guess to even register at the upper end of the range I need to lose 12st 8lbs. Shit. Some people who weight that think they're fat!

I have absolutely no idea what it's like to be a normal weight as from the age of 6 up until I was 23 I weighed the same as my age. Bloody glad it stopped then as had the pattern continued I'd be 37st by now!

So anyway, I'm going to give low carbing a try, starting Monday.

I'm bloody delighted to have discovered this thread as, not wishing to sound uncharitable, if I have to listen to another 9st person who wants to lose 7lbs telling me they understand exactly what it's like trying to lose weight, I may just sit on them. Not saying its not hard for them, but I'm sadly in a whole different league...

Anyway, hope to give & receive lots of support on this thread :)

phantomhairpuller · 09/08/2013 06:02

Morning ladies, and welcome KOTK Grin

I'm up already with the baby so will get on the kettlebell when he's fed Confused it kills me but a friend suggested it- so far I can do about 2mins before crumpling!!

Hey ho! Have a great day all Grin

Sirzy · 09/08/2013 06:14

Morning phantom. I am about to get into the wii for for half an hour then off to the gym later this morning.

onetiredmummy · 09/08/2013 07:03

Morning all,

Welcome kotk

Have a good day everyone Smile

I'm going to do some cardio then some Pilates later and stay within 1200 cals, which is hard when the dc's are after crisps and ice cream Smile

YellowCanary1 · 09/08/2013 07:40

Morning all!

Weigh in this morning and another 2lbs off this week, not the 3lbs I was hoping for but still a loss, now on 2st 4lbs gone Smile. 1st 10lbs to go to get within normal BMI and 2st 3lbs to go to my target weight.

Welcome KOTK.

Planning on a really good week with 4 runs. I am also going to concentrate on drinking more water as think this could be somewhere I am going wrong.

Has anyone else been watching Fat - the fight for my life (think that is what it is called!), I find it really inspiring as it is real people tackling real weight loss issues, and all the issues that underpin those - though with a lot of support!!!!

Sirzy · 09/08/2013 07:48

Yellow - is that the one where they followed them over 12 months? I watched this weeks and it was great to see someone so focused and making the most of the fantastic opportunity she had. She looked amazing at the end!

cq · 09/08/2013 08:17

Morning all.

Yellowcanary - yes, I watched that episode the other night. Very emotional. And wasn't she beautiful at the end?

I also have to confess I did then google the very hot trainer who mentored her through the year. If I could have him for a year I'm quite sure I could look like Kate Moss by the end Grin

My plan do day is to walk the dogs and then do a run. I'm following a training plan and today I need to do 25mins continuous. Shock Thank god it's cooler now.

HeySoulSister · 09/08/2013 08:29

I'm off to do my 3 peaks mountain challenge today, start with Ben Nevis tomorrow at 2pm.... Our trainer says the 26 mile, 3 mountain trek will cost us an estimated 8000 calories!!! I'm do nervous I can't even eat!

Just weighed myself....13.8 at 5 foot 11. I'm 4 pounds off having lost 5 stone which was my target for this massive challenge. Bit annoyed I'm not 'there' but I was 18 stone 4 when I started, so have done ok I think

onetiredmummy · 09/08/2013 08:37

Eeek soulsister, have fun & I hope it goes well.

Well done on your weight loss, its incredible :)

HenriettaPye · 09/08/2013 08:38

Morning everyone!

Yellow Canary well done on another 2lb off! Its 20 weeks until christmas- if we lose 2lb a week from now til then that will be over 2 and a half stone lost!

Welcome KOTK- thanks for joining and sharing your story with us. Someone else in our group, HeySoulSister has already lost 5 stone through low carbing! Im sure she will have some tips and support for you. She wont be around today though as she is off doing the 3 peaks challenge! Good luck HeySoulSister, we are all cheering you on!

Today I will be extra good to make up for yesterday! breakfast is fruit, lunch is homemade stew, and dinner will be a healthy stir fry. we were supposed to go out for a meal tonight as it is me and DHs anniversary but babysitter is now unavailable. for exercise im gonna take a big walk round the coast and enjoy all the lovely sea air then do day two of the gorilla workout tonight.

Hope you all have a good day Smile

Good luck SoulSister - it will be amazing. Will be mentally cheering you on all day today & tomorrow. You KNOW you can do it Smile

Henrietta - are you a statistician?! I love all your motivational numbers. 2lbs a week from now till Christmas sounds doable.

onetiredmummy · 09/08/2013 08:46

Do we have a weigh in day on this thread?
