Today is a big day for me, a turning point! I've always been 'big' however have just been getting bigger and bigger. I want to lose 6 stone- starting from today.

Anyone else in the same boat who would like to swap inspiration and tips? Today I've planned to eat healthily and go for a nice long walk Grin

Morning all,

Good luck SoulSister, I hope all goes well.

I don't have much free time today to do any exercise but will make up for it tomorrow, also to make matters worse tonight is when I usually go to DP's for the night, while DD is with her dad, we usually get a takeaway and have some cider, after a bad day yesterday i can't afford to eat a takeaway. I have to learn to say 'no' more.

onetiredmummy · 09/08/2013 08:51

I have people coming over for takeaway curry on Sunday whitewine. I'm either going to go for a starter or for something dry with salad, chicken tikka or somesuch.

No drinking or I will have a full on curry & rice Grin

HenriettaPye · 09/08/2013 08:51

Haha no I'm not- just a stay at home mummy with some free time while waiting on the kids waking up! Wink

2lb a week is definitely doable! So that's what aiming for- 2lb a week- anything else will be a bonus.

Yes our weigh in day is a Wednesday! Smile

Morning all and hello newbies :)

Good luck HeySoulSister

IsaacCox · 09/08/2013 09:06

Wow, Henrietta thanks for sharing that story. He's inspirational.

BirdingWidow · 09/08/2013 09:06

Good luck soul sister! You've done brilliantly to lose the weight, now you can climb mountains!

I am ashamed to say I haven't actually started being good yet. House is full of naughty stuff that I should chuck, not eat Sad. Weighing in on Monday...

stopthenoise · 09/08/2013 09:21

Henrietta loving the 2lb off a week til Christmas, doesn't sound such a huge task that way. Great goal to go for and quite exciting to think by Christmas I might will be at least 2 stone lighter Smile
I haven't done too well the last few days Sad BUT am taking DS to my mums today and that's a 40 minute walk there. A few running and jumping games along the way with DS might burn a couple of extra calories! And really need to listen to my Paul McKenna cd some point today.

BoysWillGrow · 09/08/2013 09:58

good luck heysoulsister
2lb each week makes it sound a heck of a lot more doable too!
bad day yesterday a double helping of apple pie and ice cream Blush luckily though i still came under my cal intake on mfp.
and its offical i did my bmi check and i am offically overweight, kick up the bum i needed, i'm off to buy a new Wii Fit disc.

Anyone have any suggestions.

IsaacCox · 09/08/2013 11:30

:( I feel awful today. I've just eaten a bowl full of sweet and salty popcorn. I feel like shit, have no motivation and just want to cry. I know in my head that I need to be good as our holiday will soon be here then I'll be upset that I've not lost more weight but I'm just not being that good :(

The first couple of months of dieting I felt awesome, healthier, loads more energy etc but now I just feel like crap and like I haven't lost any weight at all. I want to get that feeling back to spur me on but don't know how?

Sorry for the rant :(

cq · 09/08/2013 11:53

Aw Isaac, I feel for you. Can you just get outside for 5 minutes and have some fresh air? It's lovely out today, breezy and cool. It might just blow away some gloom.

Remove yourself from the temptations for a bit, it will strengthen your resolve.

Are you at home or working?

CecyHall · 09/08/2013 11:58

Iknew I'm not sure which kind of days you do (I stick with red and green as I get muddled on extra easy) but if I'm at home I have omelette at lunch quite often, or maybe a wedge of frittata if out and about.

IsaacCox · 09/08/2013 12:02

Thanks cq. I'm at home. Think I will go outside in a bit, go for a walk. Think I need to properly plan my meals as that's what I was doing when I was focused.

HenriettaPye · 09/08/2013 12:10

Aw Isaac, you have done so well already! Already a stone off so you CAN do this! The popcorn was a minor setback- draw a line under it and move on!

It's so hard when you have tempting food in the house. My DS was eating a bag of the Natural Confectionary Company jelly snakes earlier and I really wanted one Sad

As I said up thread, If we all aim to lose 2lb a week we will have off over 2 and a half stone by Christmas. That's almost half your goal! You can do it Smile

cq · 09/08/2013 12:20

Isaac, have a look back at the start of this thread - you were so upbeat and proud of yourself. Can you visualize yourself as you were that day, and remember how you felt? The brain is such a powerful tool, I'm fascinated by the things it can make us do - or stop us doing (sorry, a bit woo there!). Just remembering good times can help lift me out of a low.

And also, read ClarinetV's long post about how she's done - some great motivational tips.

And most of all, just treat this as a blip. You've come so far, just think how great the next dress size down will feel. Get outside and get some wind in your hair!

IKnewHouseworkWasDangerous · 09/08/2013 12:21

Cecy thanks. It is fine now i am off work but when i go back it will be a case of grabbing something from the cafe or tescos. I guess jacket potato and beans is going to be my life for the forseeable. This is why diets depress me

MiaWallace · 09/08/2013 12:24

Very excited. My wii fit plus has just arrived.

Off to have a play

IsaacCox · 09/08/2013 12:29

Thanks so much Henrietta and cq. You're both right. I will draw a line under it and carry on Flowers

I will finish a few jobs round the house then go for a walk to blow the cobwebs away :)

clarinetV2 · 09/08/2013 12:34

Sorry to hear you're feeling so bad, Isaac. I know that feeling so well - I've had 4 decades of yo-yo dieting, and it's when I've felt like you are now that I've thrown in the towel. Do try to be kind to yourself. All you've done is eat a bowl of popcorn - in the scheme of things, that's not a major crime to beat yourself up about. People do far worse things every minute of every day. I agree about finding yourself distractions as much as you're able to: and also think about how wonderful you will feel about yourself if you get through the rest of the day without bolting down a whole load of comfort food to cheer yourself up. Think small - just try to imagine as far as bedtime tonight without any more food disasters, then get up and start again tomorrow. I'm trying not to make this sound easy because I know just how hard it is. But you've already lost a lot, so you can do it. Sending lots of strong-willed vibes your way!

NUFC69 · 09/08/2013 12:37

Hi Ladies, I just wanted to wish you all well for the future. I was in a similar position to you all; needed to lose about five and a half stone (and that's not being overly low), and now only have about 11 lb to go. However, I am a lot older (60s) and in a different position in that I am retired and have GC. My walking was so bad that I have a blue badge (have knee problems). Picking up GC was a problem and I couldn't run around and do things with them that I wanted to do. We made the decision that I would try Alizonne therapy which is hugely expensive (had to use savings, but decided there was no point in having them if I was dead!). Anyway, I have been doing it since mid March and, as I said, I am almost there. I can't tell you how it has changed my life - I am so much better in every way, I can (just about) run with the GC, walk (don't need my badge any more, most of the time), buy lovely clothes and DH this morning commented on the wonderful shape of my bottom!!

What I have learnt is that my portion sizes were all out of kilter: although I am not completely back to eating "proper" meals all the time, my favourite dinner is a vegetable casserole with 120 gr of chicken on the top. I feel that I have retrained my mind to what I need, as opposed to my stomach - eating for me was always a pleasure and, at times of stress, a comfort; I think I have got over that now.

I do so wish that I had done this when I was younger (though we probably couldn't have afforded it then), so keep up the good work and know that if you lose the weight you will feel better, look better and go on to have a happier, healthy life. Sorry if I have gone on, but I could so empathise with a lot of what you were saying. Good luck!

onetiredmummy · 09/08/2013 12:58

Isaac a bowl of popcorn isn't that bad really. It could have been ice cream or chocolate cake or anything else that's heavy in the cals. Popcorn is one of the best things you could have chosen if you were going to have a blip. Just accept, ignore & carry on. When you get to bedtime congratulate yourself that you didn't let the rest of the day slide :)

KOTK · 09/08/2013 13:01

Good luck heysoulsister - you've already climbed 1 mountain, I'm sure you'll take the next three in your stride! :)

isaac Sorry to hear you're having a crap day. Just remember if you've lost 1lb, you can lose another. The 1lb between you and your target is actually no different (its still just 1lb) to the very first pound you lose. If you can do it once, you can do it again and again. And tomorrow is another fresh day.
