Today is a big day for me, a turning point! I've always been 'big' however have just been getting bigger and bigger. I want to lose 6 stone- starting from today.

Anyone else in the same boat who would like to swap inspiration and tips? Today I've planned to eat healthily and go for a nice long walk Grin

Well done on all the losses :)

I've just done 30 minutes on the wii just dance 2. But first I weighed myself on it. It said I hadn't been on it for something like 1500+ days (can't remember exactly) and that my bmi had gone from 29.69 to 35.99 and that I'd put on 2st 12lb (and that's not counting the 1st 3 I've already lost) Shock :( Shock

About to do the squat and plank challenge.

Welcome magenta :)

Hi everyone I put 6 stone on during my last pregnancy, because I slipped a disc during the pregnancy and it was not discovered for 5 years. I was in complete agony so loosing weight was the last thing on my mind. I lost a couple of stone over the last few years but it stalled at 13st 4lbs until a few months ago when I started putting weight on (think I have gone thru the menopause). I have got to 13st 11. I know I need to do something.
Decided to try the Atkins type diet which should be interesting given I am vegetarian and have a skin allergy when I eat wheat or dairy.
Would ideally love to lose 5 stone. But am going to set myself mini challenges along the way. My first being to get down to 13st 4.
Diet starts today.

Welcome Magenta and Milly.

Well done everybody on the great losses and even staying the same, you may find you lose more next week.

I've not weighed this morning because my wi day is a Saturday and I don't want to weigh more than once a week really. I can update you all on Saturday, or I could keep it for Wednesdays to keep in with the rest of you?

Isaac I haven't been on the wii fit for months and I'm a bit frightened to get it out really cos I don't want to see how much it thinks I've put on.

MissElodie · 14/08/2013 12:53

hi magenta and milly

i'm taking it in little chunks too - 12 half stone targets. even when i reach those I'll still have more to go but that is enough for now!!

Isaac i had the same thing yesterday when i wad weighed at the docs and i've put on nearly 3 stones since march it'd horrible isn't it Sad still at least we are doing something about it now Smile

excuse typos phone playing up!

Hello Magenta and Milly
Very happy with losing 2lb on weighing this morning, more than I expected as I haven't really got into an exercise routine yet. The good news is that I haven't felt hungry so when I do get my exercise sorted I should see a difference. I'm mite setting myself a target with weight as I"ll find it disheartening if I don't see much progress so I'm focusing instead on making lifestyle changes which will benefit the family - that's my motivation :)

Hello Magenta and Milly. Smile

Well, I took the kids to the swing park this morning and fell over the root of a tree and I have either pulled or slightly torn my calf muscles. It is agony! Just been to the chemist to buy some stronger drugs.

I'm raging as its going to really affect my exercising ability. However, I will do a chair workout later like an old nana instead of the big walk I had planned.

The good thing was that it was so sore I couldn't eat my lunch so every cloud has a silver lining. Wink

Well done on the continuing losses. We will all be skinny Minnies before we know it.

IsaacCox · 14/08/2013 14:59

Ouch Lego. Hope it heals soon.

My size 14 dress has arrived today and it's gorgeous. Can't wait to fit in it.

YellowCanary1 · 14/08/2013 15:21

Really raging at myself, slipped today and went to macdonalds. I had a chicken and bacon salad wrap and a diet coke, so it could of been worse but really annoyed. Its the first real slip I've had Sad since starting diet, ds2 has been really colic like past few days and driving seems the only way to settle him, so after another morning of screaming I took him out in car, he slept, I saw the drive through, and well the rest is history so to speak! Sad
I do have a 6k run planned with running group this evening so will push myself extra hard!

YellowCanary1 · 14/08/2013 15:27

Oh dear lego, that sounds horrid, make sure to take it easy!

yay Isaac! you'll be in that dress in no time! Grin

IsaacCox · 14/08/2013 15:52

You could have picked something much worse Yellow. I'm sure your 6K run will more than burn it off Grin

I've just done day 1 of the 30 day shred for the millionth time as I never stick with it! It was harder than I remembered! Shattered now.

Sirzy · 14/08/2013 16:12

Hope you feel better soon Lego.

Yellow - you will burn the mcdonalds off tonight.

I have just done day 4 of the 30 day shred, finding it ok at the moment and can already feel a difference - i can kick my bum doing the kicks now (although the size of my bum makes it easier to reach ;))

LegoRelatedInjury · 14/08/2013 16:56

Isaac So jealous of your size 14 dress! I would love to buy a size 14. Envy

Yellow That wasn't too much of a slip. A slip would have been a giant greasy burger with large fries, a milkshake and a McFlurry! You will have burned that off in no time.

My painkillers are working a treat. Hobbled to the fields next to my house with the kids and threw the boomerangs for them so they are nice and exhausted at least. I've had a really good day food wise so I'm pleased how controlled I've been.

MiaWallace · 14/08/2013 17:19

Oh Lego that is terrible luck.

You may have to change your name to RootRelatedInjury for a while.

I have a rotten headache today. Although I stayed within my calorie allowance my diet was carb heavy yesterday. Knocked myself out of Ketosis and now have to go through carb withdrawal again. That will teach me!

LegoRelatedInjury · 14/08/2013 18:16

Do you know what, that's excatly what I'm going to do and it will make it easier for the other Lego!

RootRelatedInjury · 14/08/2013 18:18

Here I am with my new name. It will save any Lego confusion! Grin

IsaacCox · 14/08/2013 18:31

Don't be jealous Lego, I'm a long way off fitting it it yet! Grin

Love the new name Grin

I've had a mini break through.

I have been craving a doughnut all day. It got to the point where it was all I could think about. I gave in and had the doughnut. I ate it slowly and enjoyed it (although not as much as I thought I would)

Now comes the breakthrough... typically I would then have another doughnut, maybe a packet of crisps, followed by some toast. Then with the diet ruined I would pop to the shop for a bottle of wine. After a couple of glasses and my resolve broken I would then order a Chinese. By the following morning I would be feeling totally guilty, diet ruined and the only thing that would make me feel any better would be some cheese on toast or some sugary cereal ... and that would be that. One doughnut and the whole thing falls apart like a house of cards.

Today I had my doughnut and have stopped there. I tracked the calories on MFP and have gone over my calorie goal but I'm not going to panic over it.

Who would have guessed eating a doughnut would have ended up being an achievement. I have always been an all or nothing type of person and this has resulted in diet fail after diet fail. If I can change this mind set I think I may finally be on the right track.

Sorry for the essay but I know at least some of you will have experienced this before and understand why this is progress instead of failure.

phantomhairpuller · 14/08/2013 20:19

Well done Mia Smile that is definitely an achievement!

RootRelatedInjury · 14/08/2013 20:34

That's the thing, isn't it. It's the control to have 1 cake instead of eating a whole box every day like I usually do.

Everything tastes so good now I'm watching what I eat! Smile
