Today is a big day for me, a turning point! I've always been 'big' however have just been getting bigger and bigger. I want to lose 6 stone- starting from today.

Anyone else in the same boat who would like to swap inspiration and tips? Today I've planned to eat healthily and go for a nice long walk Grin

Well I weighed in this morning and have stayed the same this week. That's ok for me, I know I've eaten too much of the wrong things this week, and I assume it's only the exercise (swimming 4 times as well as 2.5 days of the 30day shred) that stopped me putting weight on this week.

I'm decorating dd2's bedroom this coming week and both dds are away with my parents so hopefully I can avoid ice cream shops and pizza, etc because the dds won't be around to ask for it.

Morning all. I weighed myself today as we're off on holiday tomorrow - I've lost 3.4 lbs this week which is a great start.

I really needed a good week as next could be dire. We will be mostly sitting in the car touring around Scotland visiting people, so lots of opportunity to eat too much and exercise too little Hmm

My strategy is to have nuts & fruit to nibble on in the car ( instead of the usual family bag of Minstrels), trying to get a walk/run in every day, trying to make healthy choices from menus, and carrying on with Gorilla workouts and 30-day squat challenge as I can do these anywhere.

I'll try and check in with you all when I have a signal!

HenriettaPye · 10/08/2013 11:07

Morning all!

Welcome to the newbies!

Jacqueline WOW! Thats fantastic. 9st 6 weight loss already- you are an inspiration! Flowers

Hows everyone on the 30 day squat challenge going? I done 32squats in the gorilla workout challenge on thursday and im still feeling it! Ouch!! Good luck with it!

Sounds like everyones doing really well- im looking forward to weigh in on wednesday! Ive been really good yesterday and am determined to be good from now on (apart from my treat night)

Hello, can I join please?

I've lost two stones since May, low carbing and being helped by breastfeeding! I have got another 3 stones to lose though, being 12st 8lb and 5 foot 5 isn't good, my bmi is 29.3 so not obese any more, just overweight!

does anyone think it would be a good idea if we had a clothes swap thread? I've just emptied my wardrobe of stuff that's too big, and I don't want to spend loads on new things if I'm only going to wear them for a few months whilst doing further shrinking...And I bet lots of you here are in the same boat. So - I've got several pairs of size 18 trousers going if anyone wants them!

MiaWallace · 10/08/2013 12:32

Excellent start cq. Enjoy the holiday.

Is there a way to share our food diaries on MFP?

Would be good to be able to see what everyone is eating to inspire some meal choices.

Sirzy · 10/08/2013 14:11

Clothes swap sounds good. My wardrobe is getting smaller and smaller!

I have done 30 squats so far today so another 25 to go.

Out for a meal later and really fancy a drink. I am thinking gin and tonic may be the best option?

Congratulations to those who weighed in today. cq 3.4 is a brilliant start, well done and enjoy the holiday.

Mia if you go to settings and privacy I think you can change it to show your diary. I have mine set to display but I wouldn't bother looking at it for the last week as my diet has been shameful! I have a rule that as long as I am using mfp I have to be honest otherwise what is the point using it. So there are some shocking food choices on there Grin

I have a whole week of world championship athletics lined up to watch...that must burn some calories right?

Sirzy · 10/08/2013 14:44

Hot air - good luck, try drinking lots of water that may help keep migraines away and plan snacks so you don't try to grab chocolate!

JaquelineHyde · 10/08/2013 14:44

So this squat challenge...can you do them whenever you want during the day or do you have to do them in sets?

So could I do 5 sets of 10 on day one, 5 sets of 11 on day two and so on and so forth.

Sirzy · 10/08/2013 14:45

My understanding is you can split it however you want as long as you do the amount during the day

JaquelineHyde · 10/08/2013 14:50

Oooh that sounds like something I could attempt then.

HorsesDogsGuineapigs · 10/08/2013 14:51

Just found this thread, is it too late to join?

I'm currently a size 18 Sad , looking to be at most a size 10...not sure how possible this is, but if you don't try, you'll never know...!

MadameGazelleIsMyMum · 10/08/2013 14:57

Found this too. I have an awful lot to lose to get within touching distance of healthy. I have been in massive denial but have two young DC and want to sort it before it affects them.

Sirzy · 10/08/2013 15:03

Never too late to join Horses! The thread was only started a few days back anyway, just seems that there are a lot of us wanting to try to make a difference!

Madame that is the same reason as I wanted to started, didn't want to be unable to run around with DS. I have bad knees anyway and the difference loosing weight has made to them is fantastic - I actually managed to walk around all day in a pair of (very low) heels which was impossible before!

MissElodie · 10/08/2013 15:48

Hello all.....I'd like to join in too!

I started calorie counting last Wednesday after weighing myself and discovering that I had put on 16 pounds in less than 3 months Blush The bad thing is that I had actually joined MFP in June and lasted oh err 2 days and whilst I knew that I had put on a lot of weight, it was there in black and white and it was a bit of a joke to see the graph go up so steep in that short amount of time instead of going down as it should. A blood test on Thurs has shown I've got an underactive thyroid and I've started meds already so I'm hoping this will help? Is there anyone else with an underactive thyroid? Does it make losing weight harder?

Oh and before you try and shoo me back out the door - its not just 16 pounds...I need to lose actually 6 stone. I am the biggest I have ever been. I am really angry at myself as I suffered with hyperemesis very badly with my last two pregnancies and so after my DC were born I actually lost a lot of weight but I have been my usual big fat piggy greedy self and instead of thinking 'oh I'll keep this up now' I thought 'oh I've not eaten properly for 9 months so I'll stuff my face with chocolate now' Sad

I have given up on the amount of times that I have said "this time I'll do it" so I'm hoping this really is that time! Smile

cq · 10/08/2013 15:59

Welcome all - the more the merrier. More butts to kick and be kicked by Smile

MrsRachel - I've just been into town and bought two pairs of size 18 trousers!

I was really trying not to buy any more in that size as hopefully I won't need them long, but with my chubby thighs chafing together, I realised this morning that one pair of jeans had a hole in them and the other was about to go. Do not want my arse hanging out in the Highlands so had to do an emergency shop Blush

I'm hoping these pairs will not fit me long enough to wear out so I'll be able to pass them on to another shrinking violet.

I think a clothes swap could work well, and I'm def keen to be able to share food diaries - that would really keep me honest!

Back to the packing.

I'm a size 20, verging on a 22 so definitely need to start heading in the opposite direction.

Would like to be a 16 by Christmas, that's a doable goal I think so far.

Squat challenge, I might do blocks of 10 to start with, can't imagine I will do the full lot in one go.

JaquelineHyde · 10/08/2013 17:13

August 2011 I was wearing a size 36, I got married in April 2011 and had to order my dress from America Blush

I am now in anything from a 22 to a 26 depending on shop and style. I bought a dress the other week that was a 22/24. I was over the moon and have had so many compliments about how good I look!

I would love to have dropped another dress size or so by Christmas.

MiaWallace · 10/08/2013 17:16

Thanks Jaqueline. I've changed my settings on MFP so my food diary is now open to friends. Hopefully it will encourage me to be good if people can check what I've eaten.

If anyone else would like to add me my username for MFP is miawallace32

MissElodie · 10/08/2013 18:23

Jaqueline that's brilliant! I bet its great when people start to notice and pay you compliments - a real spur on!

Loving the banner that's just appeared on MFP.....Unlimited Pizza Hut Buffet!

This is a stupid question but what happens when you add people as friends on MFP? I'm new to it and have only been using the phone app as a food diary I've not been looking at anything else?

LegoAcupuncture · 10/08/2013 18:39

Jacqueline that is an amazing accomplishment, a massive well done to you!

MiaWallace · 10/08/2013 19:43

MissElodie when you add friends of MFP you get a newsfeed on the home page. Shows if your friends have stayed within their calorie allowance, any exercise they have completed and if they make the diary open you can see what they have eaten.

Of course your friends can see the same for you. Good motivation to stay on track knowing that others are 'watching'

You can also comment on the newsfeed status. Means you can offer each other support and congratulations.

Only been on there a few days myself so that's as much as I know.

Sirzy · 10/08/2013 20:00

Wow Jacquline that is fantastic!
