Week 2 - Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - How was week 1 for you?!

BIWI · 06/05/2013 09:19

Hopefully you've all entered your weight in the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness and I hope that everyone managed a successful first week!

It probably wasn't the easiest week to start, what with the bank holiday, but never mind. It's a really good lesson that life and all its temptations will frequently get in the way.

Hope everyone has some sunshine today. It's perfect barbecue weather, and barbecue food is perfect for low carbing. And if anyone wants a good recipe, there's a lovely one for marinated chicken on the recipe thread

AuntieMaggie what is the name of the low carb pasta please?

CiderwithBuda · 08/05/2013 17:12

DS made Eton Mess again. And shortbread. The smell of the shortbread in the car was amazing. So not fair. Am resisting though.

Its called slim pasta

VikingLady · 08/05/2013 17:32

TMI but I seem to be doing more poo, not less, contrary to what other people are saying.

3lb lost this week! I've been half heartedly LCing for a few weeks now, so really pleased! I am now back to my weight immediately post-birth. Only 2.5 stone to go....

Can we do the frozen yoghurt with berries then? I thought fruit was forbidden?

halfthesize · 08/05/2013 17:33

just had a lovely dinner of Pork chops roasted with chilli flakes and served with buttery cabbage Grin

GetOrf That such a pain, I find my weight fluctuates massively when I am due on..

BIWI · 08/05/2013 17:44

No fruit on Bootcamp!

bleurgh! I have just had the worst dinner ever. I made veal meatballs in a tomato, garlic, shallot, mushroom sauce - THAT part was delicious.

The inedible part was the aunt bessies red cabbage and apple bit. yuk, far too sweet and far too mushy. One mouthful was all it took for me to eat around it.

That will serve me right for not delving deeper into the freezer for the brocolli/green beans that I actually wanted.

JustasmallGless · 08/05/2013 17:59

Evening losers

Well done to all keeping on track.
Those who are having the odd cheat ask yourself - was it worth it?
No because nothing tastes as being slim feels...

Just saying ;)

Anyway
B: boiled eggs and mayo
L: feta and ham salad
T: roast breast of lamb with veggies

GetOrfMoiLand · 08/05/2013 17:59

Haha biwi, that would e a miracle of Virgin Mary proportions Grin

GetOrfMoiLand · 08/05/2013 18:01

Jax that Aunt Bessie's Red cabbage is indeed vile, far too sweet.

timidviper · 08/05/2013 18:33

Auntie Maggie I have tried the slim pasta and wasn't keen. They make pasta, rice and noodles of the same stuff and, in my opinion, the texture was ok for noodles but very peculiar for rice or pasta, a bit smooth and slimy

amigababy · 08/05/2013 18:38

hello,
yesterday 's headache / body ache has passed thank goodness,
and I'm having the same problems as Viking Lady!

BlackAffronted · 08/05/2013 18:40

Just a quick one to say ive lost 5lbs of my 7lb gain Grin

CrabbyBigbottom · 08/05/2013 18:51

Hello, I'd like to join bootcamp please. Sorry I'm late. Smile

I started yesterday and entered my weight into the spreadsheet. 2lbs lighter this morning so that's a nice start.

I've low-carbed once before, last year. Lost 10lbs in 10 days but was feeling a bit ill so started gradually reintroducing carbs and found that it went back on very very quickly. I think because I was eating (complex) carbs but still eating loads of fat.

This time I'm going to lose 2 stone and I'm not going to give up until I get there!

Yesterday
B/L - chicken, avocado, watercress, alioli (homemade, Spanish version of aioli)
D - griddled veg (courgette, aubergine, mushrooms, fennel) with homemade pesto
Snacks - Loads! Cheese of varying types, prawns, olives, greek yoghurt.

Today
B/L - as yesterday but with feta cheese too. Beyond delicious. Smile
D - just about to have lamb meatballs with chorizo, mushrooms, broccoli, courgette, little tomatoes, shallots and garlic, all roasted with lots of oil. Roasted celeriac in butter to go with, which I'm going to mash with the roasted garlic and some creme fraiche.
S - olives, spoonfuls of pesto, parma ham and cheese, prawns.

I can't stop eating! Blush I'm craving carbs and especially wine but haven't given in.

My only reservation with this WOE is the cost - my shopping bill yesterday was astronomical. Cheaper than a whole new wardrobe of plus sized clothes though, I guess. Hmm

Doshusallie · 08/05/2013 18:57

B - cold pork chop. Dh is used to my ways but did look at me like this Hmm
L - left my carefully prepared chicken salad in the fridge at home so had a cheese and chicken salad from work canteen with a dollop of coleslaw and two boiled eggs. Added mayo to my plate too but only ate a tiny bit as it was low fat grrr
Tea will be aforementioned chicken salad from fridge I expect
Snacks - pork scratchings

caramelwaffle · 08/05/2013 18:57

Welcome back Crabby - I'm also rejoining.

caramelwaffle · 08/05/2013 18:58

*rejoining Bootcamp.

AuntieMaggie · 08/05/2013 19:08

timid i preferred the rice as it mixed in better iyswim so bulked the meal out and hid the texture!

rubybricks · 08/05/2013 19:13

evening all!

i made the broccoli and stilton soup yesterday from the recipe thread - it was fab! had half yesterday and the rest today for lunch.

it's my TOTM which is a pain, but my main problem is still feeling wiped out a lot of the time. i am exercising daily - no more or less than usual - but finding it much harder. hope this will pass?

also, are we really not allowed caffeine? i don't think i can manage without Sad but wanted to do everything possible to do this right.

good to hear everyone's experiences as always - makes me more determined to see this through.

BlackAffronted · 08/05/2013 19:16

Hello to all the new joiners :)

Someone up thread asked about exercise, I do Zumba and long walks. I managed to do an 8 hour Zumbathon and had masses of energy! I outstayed alll the slim-carb-eaters Grin and wasnt even sore the next day. Im a size 24, so this was a massive deal! Im a 22 now :)

Todays menu

B - cheese ommlette
L - tuna burgers & salad
D - chicken thighs in a creamy mushroom sauce & courgetti (courgettes cut with a julienne peeler into spaghetti) fried in garlic butter

Off for a walk along the seafront in the rain! Should be refreshing Grin

sammisatt · 08/05/2013 19:43

B: sausages 1 egg
S: hard boiled egg
L: avocado, tuna mayo, chicken leg, salad leaves
D: beefburgers (posh duchy original) with blue cheese topping and broccolli roasted with olive oil, garlic and chilli flakes. Roasted broccolli is absolutely delicious. A makeover for quite a dreary vegetable.

Then I was feeling a little big pmt.... It's a small cheat but enough to get a finger waggled at me:

Tbsp of double cream with a teaspoon of pure cocoa powder ( minimal carb content) plus half a tsp of xylitol. Mixed together it was a delicious rich, chocolate mousse which I'm sure would be fine later on but not ideal for bootcamp. I just hope I'm still in ketosis.

WillieWaggledagger · 08/05/2013 19:52

NewStartNewStory (nice to see you!) and Queenofdreams, sorry i missed your posts last night - i have added you both to the spreadsheet

GetOrfMoiLand · 08/05/2013 20:31

Oh god I have just discovered extra extra hot Mexican cheese. I have just munched a load of that and it was delicious.

Dinner was a great big bowl of cabbage and some sausages.

Lunch salad nicoise.
