Week 9 - New Year Low Carb Bootcamp - Nearly there ...

BIWI · 04/03/2013 07:49

So we enter the last two weeks of Bootcamp. Still time to drop another 2-4lbs!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to come and confess all.

Remember, at the bottom of the spreadsheet is a tab for Ubercamp, if you fancy three strict days.

Good luck!

Okay....will decline them then Grin .

Making the shortbread recipe tobight. Is the protein vedy higb tho.....my GP suggested I watch the protein kevels to make sure that they dont go too high.

Am hungry nowbut had breakfast at 7:30 so guess thsts about right. Just hoping the veg Mum has done is not too carby. Bit of a nightmare when eating elsewhere.

jakebullet I used to love potatoes but had one of dp's fries last weekend and found I don't like them any more. They just taste like bland filler now. Maybe try not eating them for a few weeks, to get used to not having them..?

Just made the shortbread. It's amazingly yummy, but very 'short' and crumbly.

The thread in aibu 'to feel like a failure?'

More are agreeing with me now though........SmileSmile

To be honest 'Id rather have the parsnips than the potatoes....much much more flavour in them and less carbs but still more than I would normally have.

I am loving this WOE so much and will ever go back to the sort of diet I was eating on a daily basis previously.

Cant wait to have a go at the shortbread.

Excellent Jake you have had such a good start, I am looking forward to you posting a good loss tomorrow!

Am intrigued about leptin... So off to have a read of that now Smile

Jake - did your GP say why you had to watch your protein levels?

JakeBullet · 10/03/2013 14:45

No she didn't but I do have high blood pressure....or white coat blood reassure that settles because I don't get such high readings at home. I am not in any treatment or anything. I was assuming that this was why she said to watch the protein levels......either that or because protein can in itself produce an insulin response......

Am being careful anyway. Diet is 70% fat, 20% protein and 10% carbs at the moment......as worked out by My Fitness Pal anyway.

Have you been monitoring your BP levels since you've been low carbing? It would be interesting to see if it's had an impact on them.

That Parmesan shortbread......O...M....G....bloody delicious....am not hungry but have had three bits. Covered it up now to keep me from eating it.......gives me hope for DS's lunch boxes as its very shortcrust pastry like.....bet I could add all manner of stuff to make delicious snacks for him that are not Carby but very moreish.

Ladies - advice please. I have got my BMI down to under 25 - yippeedeedah but I want to lose another 3/4kgs so I have some wriggle room and because I really believe this will be a good weight for me. I am planning to follow a strict Briffa woe from now til next Bootcamp. If I adopt a Briffa approach - ie yoghurt and nuts and berries but no carby foods like spuds and bread etc., will I carry on losing weight :) or just go into a holding pattern Sad ?

thekitchenfairy - I am reading lots about leptin just now! I have decided to do a "leptin reset", which fits in perfectly with this woe. There is a huge section about it in the MDA forums.

could the shortbread be used as a sort of pastry do you think? To make an asparagus & cheese tart, for example?

BIWI · 10/03/2013 16:39

There's no easy way to answer that, TheEarlyBird. You have to work out for yourself what level of carbs will keep you at a maintenance level.

Thanks for the feedback BIWI - I think I'm going to give it a whirl and see what happens over the next 2/3 weeks. Basically I'll carry on very much as I am now so no carbs like spuds/bread/rice etc but I am going to introduce yoghurt, nuts and berries and really rein in the cream and cheese that I have eaten lots of through the last 10 weeks. The book suggests that I should lose weight and I am realistic that, as I get nearer to my target, the weight loss will slow down.

Oh - and I'm "declaring" early this week as I want to celebrate my 3lb loss this week. Really pleased - have hit a new low! 12lb in total - bloody marvellous. (I notice the spreadsheet continues after this week - will we be able to keep updating our losses?)

Report
BIWI · 10/03/2013 16:58

Oh, and well done, by the way!

Yes, the spreadsheet will keep going.

Thanks Biwi for the help on the other thread. Tis shocking how much mis- information is out there for parents feeding children.

The almond shortbread could easily be used as a base for a quiche! Am going to try it this week. SmileSmile

Forgive me, BIWI, for I have sinned. Since Christmas I have forsaken my LC buddies and fallen off the LC wagon in a big way. I feel and look like shite and have put back 50% of what I lost (conservative estimate).

I want to get back on the horse (meat) again Grin

Can I come back?

Welllll, I always was a Bootcamp Lite girl anyway Grin

It's nice to be back. Christmas, a new job and some family issues meant I took my eye off the ball - it's not been a total disaster but my jeans are really tight and I feel bleaugh. My skin's not great either!

I want to get back to flat-tummy-heaven Grin.

Tea, I was thinking abouyt you only today and wondering how you were. Welcome back old girl!

THere are some of us me, mainly who have struggled to stay on the straight and narrow and will probably finish bootcamp at the same weight as we started. Still, tomorrow is another day and we can enjoy the last week together. In addition, the chat thread is continuing so we can support each other as we approach the summer.

Just had roast lamb and leeks. Everyone else had mash. Mine was LOVELY.
