Week 9 - New Year Low Carb Bootcamp - Nearly there ...

BIWI · 04/03/2013 07:49

So we enter the last two weeks of Bootcamp. Still time to drop another 2-4lbs!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to come and confess all.

Remember, at the bottom of the spreadsheet is a tab for Ubercamp, if you fancy three strict days.

Good luck!

Hi Black and anyone else who understands leptin resistance.... i wonder if this is why I've stalled after a 6lb loss, even regained 1lb this last 2weeks... Ive had a look at some leptin info on MDA, and after a quick google or 2... Is tht it? Just 3 simple steps?

I've decided to carry on with this for the foreseeable future, am away at MILs, despite catering for all DH and I have experienced a bit of treat creep... Mostly Wine and gin and the odd miniature chocolate Blush which help ease the general stress of the visit... woke up desperate for a slice of the choc cake sitting in the fridge with my coffee and feeling bloated and shite. That is the old me, not the LC version and I do not like it.

only a pound on, so in the circumstances I'm happy.

Thanks for all the chocolate advice, I'm planning to dispose of a chunk of them while the DC are at school (hello friend!), ad then we'll share the remainder tonight. So two days of messed up insulin rather than one, but can't really be helped.

Sorry I didn't reply last night Earlybird. I started at 224.4lbs am now 150 and want to get down to 147 which puts me mid-range for a normal BMI for my height and frame. Started in January 2012 so it's taken me 14 months, but that includes 2 birthdays, 2 holidays and Christmas! The last few pounds are proving to be really stubborn.

I haven't been this weight since my teens Grin

This WOE must suit my body as I have shed virtually a whole stone in just over 2 weeks. This week I am going to ....just keep going, what's not to like about this WOE.

Was thinking this morning that on all previous diets I have weighed in and then used the weight loss as an excuse for a big blow out safe in the knowledge that it would be a whole week before I was weighed again. The amazing thing in this WOE is that I have no desire to do that "big blow out" thing at all.

I still have an awful lot to lose but I actually feel now that I can do it.

Yes - I think my ideal would be to have a BMI of about 23ish but still, just going under 25 is a major milestone for me. Wow, Jake, that is amazing. Well done!

Whoop whoop....weight loss this week is 7lbs. This is despite a rather too generous helping of that Parmesan shortbread. Btw.....does it get less crumbly when cool? I may have eaten the whole batch before it had a chance to cool right down Blush

Ah, I need a BMI of about 19/20 to look ok. I have a very narrow frame.

My BMI is below 25 but I have a small frame and am still fat on it. I am also not sticking to the WOE strictly enough, so it is my own fault that I can't do my jeans up.

Yay! Even at bedtime my weight is below 25 BMI for the first time in 13 years. How totally, completely, happy am I? Starting to be worried about losing you guys - I want to be a loser. Sweet dreams one and all.

Mmmmmm, pie!

Creamy chicken, mushroom with less cheesy pie topping.

Gosh, been absent for a couple of days as my sister was visiting, and just logged back in to see all the parmesan shortbread love Grin DH is very proud. Esp that Ruprekt's chef DH was impressed. He's wondering what else he can invent now Grin

I did try them with cheese on top but tbh honest thought it was a waste of both biscuit and cheese, they were tastier separately, def a biscuit for buttering IMO.

I think you could use them as a decent pie topping though if you had a pie that suited the cheesy flavour. I shall ponder this. Mmmm pie.

Off to sleep now, as DD has been puking this evening so I am preparing for a bad night. Packed breakfast and lunch is in the fridge ready for a quick grab one handed if I am to spend all day holding a sicky baby. Night all.

Tea Good to see you again. I remember your name from my first bootcamp as I loved it, although I had a different name then so you may not remember me.

Ishall I would trough them all in one go then clamber back onto the wagon.

I made lamb shank in my slow cooker for tea today, served with creamed leeks, broccoli and stringless beans. It was lush!

Tea, nice to see you!

Ishallwearmidnight, I know that Zoe harcombe would say that it is better to eat them all at once, for the reasons you suggest about insulin release. That's fine if it's enjoyable, but I do think risks a sort of binge mentality whih isn't very healthy. Could you get away with eating one or two very mindfully and enjoying them, putting the rest away, and then getting rid of them surreptitiously?

I'm not sure how muh weight you have to lose, but ekeing them out will keep knocking you out of ketosis, and may not cause you to gain weight but will at least likely stop you losing. And you will likely trigger sugar cravings too.

IShall I'm sure I've read that it's best to keep an insulin spike to one meal- so I think you might be better to scoff the lot in one go and try your best to share them too, rather than spreading them out over a few days.
I had a similar problem because dd made a chocolate cake today. We haven't had any pudding since the start of bootcamp so I thought one cake in 9 weeks is not bad and it would be rude to refuse Grin

teddy - thanks for your Briffa advice. I'm going to give him a try and then switch back if/when I stall. I sneaked a peak at your profile pics - wow, you must be so pleased. Can I ask your achievements, starting weight, now weight, how long it's taken and your target

Jake. My blood pressure, which has been high for over thirty years, is now normal. I've been LC-ing for 14 months now and it took about 10 months for it to be normal. I don't even suffer from white coat blood pressure now Smile

Earlybird I started this WOE by using Briffa's list of allowed foods, and lost weight, even when eating yoghurt and berries, but found after a few months that I had to give them up because not only did they make me stall, but they also made me sick. I'm finding it really hard to lose the last few pounds to get to my target weight, so my advice would be to be as strict as you can be until you get to your target should take own advice

I'm expecting to have gained this week (things just got stupidly manic with DD and work and travelling and my eating went to pot a bit lot). But, I've managed plenty of water, so I know it will come good in the end.

A question - if the DDs were to have bought me some lovely chocolates, would it be better to eat them all in one go day and get it over with, or to spread them out over a few days? From an insulin point of view I'd've thought one day, and deal with it, but maybe not? Obviously what would be better is to have one, say "thank you darlings" and then share the rest, but there's a great deal of "looking after Mummy cos she never gets to do anything for herself, and it's only fair we get to spoil her" going on, and not eating these chocolates will cause problems (complicated medical/MH reasons which are not relevant, but I really have to be seen to eat these damn things!). So, how to make the best of a bad situation?
