Week 9 - New Year Low Carb Bootcamp - Nearly there ...

BIWI · 04/03/2013 07:49

So we enter the last two weeks of Bootcamp. Still time to drop another 2-4lbs!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to come and confess all.

Remember, at the bottom of the spreadsheet is a tab for Ubercamp, if you fancy three strict days.

Good luck!

That sounds very promising.

Thank you Black, will get some whey protein next week. Yes Liquorice and Peppermint tea tis fab isn't it? It is expensive but I will order a bigger pack online when I next have some cash.

Ohhh good luck Jake :)

Lavenderhoney · 09/03/2013 18:23

Val- glad you got home safely :) and good luck with your new chap jake:)

Reading and running as we had some horrible ( work related) news this week so I have been lc except for copious amounts of wine.

I feel crap and a lc hangover is pants- but as I can hardly sleep with the worry- 2 days now- I would rather have a glass of wine or two and crash. Shabby I know. I am going to have a bath and read jilly copper to cheer up:) that woma n has been a godsend most of my life:)

Spiltthetea......parmesan shortbread is in the oven!! Looks yum!

intravenouscoffee · 09/03/2013 18:48

Sorry to crash the thread. I came on a couple of weeks ago to ask about carb flu and other fun things. Since then have been doing reasonably well on this woe and feeling great (am doing it for health benefits not really weight loss.)

Anyway, yesterday I was on night shift and ate 2 bits of cake and a scone. Woke up feeling rubbish and really grumpy. Will I have to go through the 2 wk boot camp again to get back on track? Am really annoyed with myself. Was the middle of the night and all my good intentions fell apart Sad

Ruprekt · 09/03/2013 19:02

Omg the parmesan shortbread as we have named it is amazing! We used a tiny bit of cumin. Really really easy and great with butter. Dh, a chef, is impressed. SmileSmileSmileSmile

BIWI · 09/03/2013 19:05

intravenous - did you do the full 2 weeks of Bootcamp? If so, then you should be OK. Just drink plenty of water, and be super strict over the next couple of days.

intravenouscoffee · 09/03/2013 19:07

Yes, did 2 wks and then done about 10 days of 'maintenance'. Will drink lots of water tonight and get back on track. Thanks BIWI.

BIWI · 09/03/2013 19:18

And don't worry - it happens to the best of us!

MsRinky your afternoon of pantry organising sounds like heaven to me; with 2 under 5s such activities are a distant dream

B: 2 black farmer sausages and 2 fried eggs in butter
L: roast pork, creamed celeriac; buttered cabbage and sprouts
D: fish pie with more creamed celeriac (did quinoa for the troops), broccoli & cauliflower + rasps/blueberries with lashings of cream

I think I am officially addicted to double cream now I start to panic when I get to the bottom of the tub

timidviper · 09/03/2013 20:02

Our local Sainsburys have told me today they are no longer stocking celeriac as there is no demand for it! Apparently if I want some I either have to travel 19 miles to a larger Sainsburys or wait till next year when they plan to open a bigger one only 5 miles away! I have told them an easier option would be to go to Tesco! I wish I had a good greengrocer near home.

BIWI · 09/03/2013 20:04
Shock

How can they say that?! You will have to start online shopping.

OP posts:
timidviper · 09/03/2013 20:12

The problem then is that you only find what is out of stock when they deliver. That drives me mad!

littlermissstan · 09/03/2013 20:15

Did anyone else see Dr Briffa on BBC Breakfast this morning? Talking about the badness of diet drinks. Only caught the very end but good to see him in the mainstream media :) Made the most AMAZING lamb curry for dinner, though caved in and had one of my homemade chapatis... We shall see what that does come Monday!

QuickLookBusy · 09/03/2013 20:23

Hi everyone, hope you've all had a good Saturday.

I've just made a lovely broccoli dish-

Cook the broccoli first in some boiling water, then drain and dry off.
Fry some garlic and a couple of anchovies until the garlic just starts to cook, in some olive oil.

Add the broccoli and stir fry for a couple of minutes.
Serve with some grated parmesan.

We had it with some chicken, it was so tasty.

Iamaslummymummy · 09/03/2013 20:41

littlermisstan

I'd love the curry recipe. Mine are always rubbishGrin

Iamaslummymummy · 09/03/2013 20:41

I've discovered I love fennel gratin!

MrsHerculePoirot · 09/03/2013 20:50

Lavender enjoy your book - I love a bit of Jilly C!

WillieWaggledagger · 09/03/2013 21:42

I made this lamb tagine in the slow cooker today - with a couple of tweaks (shallots instead of onions; didn't have any saffron). Dp's dad gave us homemade salted lemons at Christmas. It was really delicious - I did a half shoulder and didn't cube it and it just fell off the bone

BIWI · 09/03/2013 23:14

One of the truly brilliant things about low carbing is the control that it gives you over your appetite. It's very common when people first start that they ask about snacks/what snacks they can have. It's so ingrained these days that we have our 3 meals, with snacks in between. Because we are always, always hungry.

Of course we are, because of the carbs we're eating!

This thread is a perfect case in point

Just read through what people are routinely eating/giving their children.

It's no wonder we have an obesity epidemic.

I agree Biwi.

Ds2 did make lovely scones tonight though. Smile

B - Big Ass Breakfast - 2 sausages, bacon, mushrooms, scram egg

Avoided cake, hot cross buns and crumpets at friends house Smile

L - still full but snacked on pepperami, babybel, ham, salad, pork scratchings

D - joint beef (50p from m&sSmileSmileSmile) celeriac dauph, swiss chard and broccoli

I also made the amazing shortbread which was amazing.

BIWI · 09/03/2013 23:47

I must have a go at that shortbread. It sounds lovely.

Do you think if you sliced it thinly that it would work as a cracker, or is the texture too 'short'?

OP posts:
Ruprekt · 10/03/2013 01:01

Dh said we could make it thinner and turn it into crackers. It held a piece of butter well and could hold a piece of cheese.

I might need your help Biwi on the 'I feel like a failure' thread. I suggested LC to her 6 y old dd but someone shouted at me! Grin
