Week 9 - New Year Low Carb Bootcamp - Nearly there ...

BIWI · 04/03/2013 07:49

So we enter the last two weeks of Bootcamp. Still time to drop another 2-4lbs!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to come and confess all.

Remember, at the bottom of the spreadsheet is a tab for Ubercamp, if you fancy three strict days.

Good luck!

Also I fitted into a pair of size 12 Levis (bold curve but still ). 30 inch waist down from 35 at the beginning of the year. Thanks all!

Ilovemyteddy · 08/03/2013 15:46

Wow, that combined loss is amazing, Willie. Big congrats to everyone, especially BIWI for keeping us all on the straight and narrow. Even though I'm not posting so much now I'm still low-carbing, and still scared of the spreadsheet Grin

I'm finding the last few pounds really difficult to lose, but I suspect it's because I'm relaxing a bit, being so close to my goal. I had a weekend away last weekend and took my foot off the gas, and was lucky still to lose a tiny bit of weight. This week I have been much more hardcore and the weight has shifted.

I still have this weird perception of the size I am, though. Was at the gym last night, in the jacuzzi, and a woman got into the jacuzzi who was quite large, and I thought " she's the same size as me." When I got out I saw myself in the full length mirror they have conveniently placed by the jacuzzi and I realised that she was the size I was before I started this WOE. I find it hard to get my head around the size I am now, because I still have a large tummy and loose skin, having been obese for all my adult life. Even though I am now comfortably fitting into size 12 jeans my head is telling me I am still an 18/20. Has anyone else had/got this problem?

BlackAffronted · 08/03/2013 18:13

Just made an amazing dish from the River Cottage Veg book - savoy cabbage & leeks in a curried coconut milk sauce. Had it with gammon, really filling and delicious! No snacks again today, yay.

My spotting has come back though, and have some slight bloating from that :( looks like I am getting a monthly cycle after many yeras without one. Ah well!

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 08/03/2013 18:19

Didn't get a chance to catch up with the thread before I left as all so hectic - looks like I have got the temp job, fingers crossed - they are waiting for the client to sign off still though so am not going to get excited just yet.

I'm afraid I have not, this time, packed any celeriac in my suitcase Grin but will endeavour to stick to the low carb options, like champagne! DH has ordered me a low fat Hmm meal on the Eurostar - god only knows what it will be like!

Have good weekends all and will join you for weigh in on Monday!

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 08/03/2013 18:23

Oh and happy mothers days! Thanks

BlackAffronted · 08/03/2013 18:42

Have a great time Choos! Your DH shoudl have ordered you the diabetic option, that might have been more low carb!

spilttheteaagain · 08/03/2013 19:04

Wow so many lasagne ideas, thank you all! I was wracking my brains trying to think what veg to put in the sauce bit if I was using courgettes as the "pasta" (don't like aubergines and am aware of the sadly carby nature of onions, toms and peppers) but whoever mentioned broccoli has inspired me. That can go right in there, with some leeks and peppers in a bit of passata. Maybe a layer of spinach too as that is very delicious with a creamy and tomatoey sauce. And a pile of cheese. All my meals have a pile of cheese inserted somewhere. Grin Food of the gods.
I have mealplanned for this week, but this is now on my To Try list.

Great big congrats to loser jake Grin You must be chuffed, you sound like you are loving this so much as well which is fab to read. The enthusiasm leaps out. It's weird isn't it how not quite right carby things taste now. I taste tested DD's spaghetti tonight to check it was cooked, and had to try about 3 bits as I couldn't work out the texture anymore.

black that savoy and leeks sounds lush, I have the book, will make a note to give that a whirl.

47 stone in 2 months is incredible!

Have a great time away choos!

I had my spaghetti (courgette) and meatballs for dinner and it was fab. Pork mince with fennel seeds, garlic and hot smoked paprika for the meatballs and a spicy (and stingy!) tomato sauce, lots of cheese and some salad. Officially stuffed.

Ooh and we tried cabbage carbonara for lunch, I think it is BIWI's idea on the recipe thread? Used this bbc recipe but with finely sliced and steamed white cabbage and it was really good, I reccomend it. We added a big pile of mushrooms, as lets face it, creamy garlicy, buttery, parmesany sauce is just crying out for them. DD had already had some salad, cheese and an egg sarnie, but she inhaled the creamy cabbage off of our plates. This woe is fab for getting her into veg.

spilttheteaagain · 08/03/2013 19:14

Oh and DH would like me to share with you his creation, he is very proud. It is sort of like a savoury cheesy shortbread in texture. bloody delicious (and crumbly) hot out the oven with a slice of butter on top:

25g Butter
1 egg yolk
15g grated parmesan
Salt
Cayenne pepper
80g ground almonds

Soften butter, beat in parmesan and egg yolk. Stir in salt & cayenne and almonds.
Roll out on baking sheet until 3-5mm thick.
190 for about 10-12 mins or until going a bit golden.
Break up and eat with slices of butter.

I wasn't hungry this afternoon when he made it, but couldn't help scoffing half the batch anyway, they were lovely Blush

Valdeeves · 08/03/2013 21:01

Help I am broken down on a busy dual carriage way in the freezing cold. Somebody talk to me!

QuickLookBusy · 08/03/2013 21:13

Gosh valdeeves are you ok? Is help on its way?

Valdeeves · 08/03/2013 21:14

It is but I've done an hour - I'm starving!

QuickLookBusy · 08/03/2013 21:17

You do know you're on a food threadGrin

QuickLookBusy · 08/03/2013 21:18

Bessie123 · 08/03/2013 21:24

Whereabouts are you? Are you ok?

EMUZ · 08/03/2013 21:34

weigh in at the gym and I was down another 1kg Smile
To be fair I was never on meds for my blood sugar as its always low, but I did used to have to carry glucose tablets which I don't now. Tea tonight was 2 rather good homemade burgers (med/rare) and a huge pile of salad. Burgers topped with mustard and melty cheese

QuickLookBusy · 08/03/2013 21:43

I hope they are with you now Valdeeves and you will be home safely soon.

Valdeeves · 08/03/2013 21:47
