Week 4 - New Year Bootcamp - Where We Really Get Going

BIWI · 28/01/2013 08:55

Morning all!

Quick post from me as I have to go to work. Damn that RL!

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Remember that in this week, it is still likely that you may see very little or even no loss. This is entirely normal and will happen no matter how well you have been following Bootcamp rules

It sounds, though, like some of you are eager to report losses anyway, so that's brilliant!

However, there's been a lot of falling off the wagon recently, so can I suggest that we really get focused in this week and make sure that we don't allow the carbs to creep back into the diet? From here on, we're only really going to see losses of around 1-2lbs a week, so let's not sabotage things.

BlackAffronted What's the food porn thread? The recipes?

FrouFrou Really sorry to hear of your loss. Hope you are doing ok.

I have literally eaten my bodyweight in my homemade chicken soup today. I could burst!

Lost 2 and 1/4 pounds this week. I did have a glass of wine each night on sat and Sunday and been eating berries, so shall carry on with that next week.

Ginot, its the food photos thread, seeing the meals really inspires you try new things :) Well, for me anyway.

Just back from Zumba, less than 2 weeks now til my 8 hour zumbathon! Getting panicky now. What shall I take with me, to keep me going? I was thinking maybe some protein shakes, some babybels ... and? Plenty of water!

Hi all, quick check in, new job means I'm struggling to keep up with the thread but I'm still bootcamping! Lost another 0.6kg which I'm really happy with for Week 4! Onwards and downwards!

Am still being pretty good, have changed to berry smoothies in the morning (only 3g carbs in the berries though!) as I was struggling to eat egg based brekkies in the mornings. It's working really well and I'm still keeping my carbs low overall.

Really enjoying this WOE now which is more than I can say for any other diet I've been on!

Just updating with a measly, pathetic 1lb loss this week. :( And I was really good as well.

Off to catch up with all the news and check out the photos thread - great idea BlackAffronted!

froufrou big hugs. I am not sure it is any easier whatever the circumstances. Be kind to yourself.

Well I put on 3lbs this week after a terrible weekend of food, and it really is the least that I deserve. DH was the same and is on a right mission not to fall off the wagon again, which usually is good news for me when he is focused.

Very pleased to have lost 2lbs this week. Havent managed to cut down my brie addiction too much but definitely drinking more water and less tea and cream.

B - today was scrambled eggs and streaky bacon.
L - as was out and about.
D - was mince and veg slowcooked with chilli etc and eaten with a dollop of coleslaw.

So glad the snow has gone and I'm intending to get out and do a bit more exercise this week. I'm still a good 6lbs off my target but i'll get there eventually.

Just want to add my condolences to Frou.

Sorry FrouFrou Sad

Down a pound, but I know I have put a little weight on since Friday. Not a big deal, as there are some slips, but I am motivated to try extra hard this week. I have set myself a new goal as I am almost at my original one. I would like to lose another 7lbs before I start maintain. I have some events in mid march and it would be awesome to have lost the weight by then... We will see!

My day
B: 2 eggs and butter
L: green salad, with spinach, avocado and goats cheese
D: beef casserole, with mushrooms and some other allowed veg and crispy kale, followed by a bowl of ff yogurt with cinnamon.
Yum.

Well done losers!

FrouFrou so sorry to hear you lost your dad. Take care of you and yours.

Well, I logged on feeling despondent after being massively derailed this week and I would love any help or advice anyone could give me please?

Several things have contributed to falling off the LC wagon this week:

  1. Visited friend who had cooked creamy pasta lunch and apple crumble for me (I really didn't feel I could refuse when she had made such an effort).
  2. Struggling with meal planning for me (LC), DP (low fat and low carb, weirdo!), kids ('normal' meals) and baby (BLW). It's just taking so much bloody effort to figure out what everyone can have!
  3. Shopping - we ran out of suitable foods and had no time to go shopping with such a busy weekend.
  4. Struggling to find the time to cook. So much LC is cook from scratch. I've had loads of veg go in the bin because I haven't had time to prepare it in between baby care etc. I've been having a lot of leeks as they're quick in the microwave, but got sick of them and ended up just having meat.
  5. Boozey weekend for someone's birthday, followed by hangover and a craving for dirty KFC (and no alternative food in the house).

Kerry I know what you mean - I think the thing to do is just keep at it but accept that sometimes you have to deviate and it's no big deal. It's a WOE for the rest of your life and let's face it - it would be difficult not to drink, eat cake etc etc your whole life!!!
You just have to do the best you can and not stress about the slip ups - ultimately it's about bring healthier and losing weight.
For example - if you fall of the wagon - you just get right back on and keep going as long as you can.
The aim is to keep trying, eventually it'll stick.
I'm going to try my best to limit the damage as got a meal out and a wedding this month but I'm not going to stress as that will ruin both!
I think a good target is to get weight sorted by the summer at least so we can all look fantastic on the beach (if it ever stops raining!!!)

The thing is also to remember the benefits - great weightloss without going hungry, fab skin from all the water, more energy, less dips in blood sugar.

Kerryketosis,

This woe is defo sustainable as there are lots of coming p to the year mark and still going strong and loving it.

The thing is you are going to get derailed such as friends who cook for you. You can either contact them on advance and ask for a low carb lunch. Even then you may find yourself presented with a plate of lasagne and a huge chocolate cake. Yes that's what happened to me. Just drink plenty of water a few strict days and you are back on track.

Regarding the meal planning I really would recommend you spend an hour once a week working out a menu for everyone.

Roast dinner for everyone just leave off yorkshires and potatoes for you.
Leftover meat in a stirfry -make noodles or rice for family. Courgette ribbons or cauli rice for you
Bolognaise sauce with pasta for everyone and courgette pasta for you and extra Parmesan!

When you make anything like stew/chilli/bolognaise do double quantities and freeze portions. Have you got a slow cooker- this is your friend.

Restaurants are really easy for,low carbing tbh. Most places are fine if you either say you are wheat intolerant and ask for veg instead of the carb option.

The health benefits all outweigh these little blips along the way. It's a marathon not a sprint.
I could have lost a lot more weight but I have a pretty good social life and I drink a lot on my weekends off

Another week without any loss for me Sad

I just cannot understand it! I have not been naughty even once! I have followed boot camp and taken advice on board and tweaked what I ate as we have gone along.

And still I have lost a measly total of 3lbs in 3 week!! Despite giving up all forms of sugar, refined carb and high carb! Wtf!! And no nuts or fruit this week for me either.

I am the dunce of boot camp

Lots of you seem to have lost a whole stone. Are you all doing lots of exercise?
Please let it be the lack of exercise otherwise I am doomed.

thanks for your advice guys.

Yes, I really need to get to grips with, "oh well". As in, I fell of the wagon, "oh well"

and planning, planning, planning.

Skandi

Are you measuring yourself? Sometimes the scales don't show but the cms drop off.

How much weight have you got to lose? I don't want you to post it! But of you haven't got too much then this may be a reason.

BIWI would also ask how much dairy you are eating as this can stall some people's weight loss. Everyone is different and its just working out what suits you.

How is your skin since starting this Woe? Are you feeling healthier- think of all,the health benefits as well as weight loss

Keep the faith losers

skandi... I've lost 13lb in total and I think it has helped that I've been swimming three times a week, even thought it is only a gentle 40 min swim.
