Week 4 - New Year Bootcamp - Where We Really Get Going

Morning all!

Quick post from me as I have to go to work. Damn that RL!

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Remember that in this week, it is still likely that you may see very little or even no loss. This is entirely normal and will happen no matter how well you have been following Bootcamp rules

It sounds, though, like some of you are eager to report losses anyway, so that's brilliant!

However, there's been a lot of falling off the wagon recently, so can I suggest that we really get focused in this week and make sure that we don't allow the carbs to creep back into the diet? From here on, we're only really going to see losses of around 1-2lbs a week, so let's not sabotage things.

Eve All, hope you have all had good weekends. I am rather hungover so just a quick post whilst DH cooks the dinner!!

Jac what a lovely thing to say about your DHThanks

Skandi so glad you got a good sleep.

Jac Thanks.

Sooooo. After another night of sleep without DSwailing at me (DH back in good books now) I feel sort of normal again. Smile

However I need BiWI to come and give me a good whack with her stick. I have fallen off the wagon. Big style! DH let me have a couple of hours of "freedom" while he looked after DC and I succumbed to cafe mocha with cream and caramel shortbread in cafe Nero.

My only defence is that it is my first naughty in the whole 4 weeks of boot camp and I have not struggled with temptation before.

I have no explanation why. I just wanted the shortbread. The coffee wouldn't have been too bad but the shortbread was. I have been a numpty and I know it.

The good news is that the shortbread wasn't that enjoyable and I would rather have had some bacon and eggs. The coffee was though.

It is interesting, when we fall off the wagon, how things that previously you have adored are, actually, pretty ordinary.

Drink lots of water and be super strict for the next couple of days and you'll be fine.

I drank copious amounts of Sailor Jerry's rum last night...HARDCORE measures, no mixer...

Needless to say I feel uh, delicate today.

I still seem to be in ketosis and I'm showing a loss on the scales this morning. I expect to have gained tomorrow though...I'm just not that lucky.

Been a good girl today so far...

B - cheese and mushroom omelette, 2 cups of tea with cream

Evening all. Very early dinner here as I have a sinus migraine thing and I need to have lots of painkillers and sleep. I Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, so am used to pain, but I felt so sorry for myself that I had a rose cream and a violet cream (leftover from Christmas, the rest are back in the box in a drawer). I don't feel bad or guilty, but don't feel the need to have any more.

DH was in charge of dinner and made celeriac dauphinoise/fish pie. He squashed some garlic and steeped it in some cream, sliced the celeriac and layered it in a dish with sliced shallots. He found a bit of smoked salmon in the fridge and the rest of last night's prawns, so they got layered in too. It was rather lovely - I now see why everyone loves celeriac dauphinoise - cooking it in cream really smooths the spikiness out of it.

Lavender. Ouch for you. Migraine is hideous. Hope you recover soon!

My last migraine was a couple of weeks ago and it's the only time during bootcamping that I craved carb. I think migraines do that to you so don't worry. More important to relax and recover.

Yes BIWI. It's odd how a few weeks ago that caramel shortbread would have been so satisfying. It wasn't. It was just meh tbh. A treat of crispy bacon and eggs would have gone down better.

Must say coffee with cream is addictive.

Hope everyone is doing better than me with boot camp today!

Hello all. I have missed breakfast the last few days but have been so hungry today that I've decided I'm not doing it again. It's too much like hard work!

Today I had
L- prawns, avocado, salad and some cheese
S-teaspoon of peanut butter
D-lamb chops, roasted aubergine with melted hallioumi and salad.

Lots of water today.

Today:

No breakfast, and went out for my first run. No issues re energy.
Lunch - some tuna mayo and broccoli and blue cheese soup
Dinner - out to a burger restaurant. I shall have a bunless burger, with some salad instead of fries.

DH very inconsiderately opened a box of Hotel Chocolat chocolates, so I have to confess that I snaffled two of the dark chocolate batons.

There will be wine when we're out for dinner, but that's it. I've bought myself a bottle of vodka, and instead of drinking wine I'm going to try Dr Briffa's recommendation of vodka, soda and lime.

Have just had the loveliest day with my parents, sister and her boyfriend visiting. They were here for lunch and dinner.

L - chicken thighs with creamed cabbage and cauli rice
D - Spag bol (dh and I had courgette and carrot ribbons and spinach instead of spag)

Brekkie was scrambled eggs with cream and ham.

Have tracked food in Mfp today (don,t usually but been curious lately) - really hard to guess when there's things like homemade soup involved, but even erring on the side of caution I think I have had about 25g of carbs today. I will have to go to bed soon to not eat anything else however - I'm not remotely hungry, but tired and a tad hungover and that spells eating for the sake of it.

Evening. I am going to struggle this week as we are on holiday - not going away as skint, but doing nice things in local area and including some meals out and general enjoyment. Had intended to be good today but had a big row with DH about something stupid this morning and have been feeling sorry for myself all day and ended up having a bar of chocolate form the fridge which I have been happily ignoring for 2 weeks, I am not proud of myself. It seems i am not out of the emotional eating woods yet. Other than that I have had:

B: eggs, spinach and bacon
L: leftover casserole and salad
D: black farmer sausages with creamed courgette, turnip, broccoli and cauli
Haven been gorging on water to make up for chocolate. Nt sure if that will make any difference. Fairly sure I am not in ketosis now (wine and a slice of pizza last night to). So will try to be super strict so far as poss but in reality I may be out of genuine lc action until this time next week. Not expecting a loss tomorrow.

Im doing good on the low carbing, my inlaws visited today and my mil told me how lovely Im looking which was nice, hadnt seen them since mid dec.

Im hoping to feel a bit brighter in the morning, I didnt sleep so well last night so thats prob why Im feeling a bit lousy. Will also weigh in the morning. If I remember

Oh Jac that is so lovely. I felt all fluffy reading that.

Dinner tonight was finally the duck that had been lurking in my freezer since I picked it up on offer ages ago. Marinated in some soy, sesame, star anise and fennel seeds and fried it up in butter with shredded Savoy cabbage and broccoli. Was ok. Not much meat in a pack!

My only naughtiness this week has come in the shape of wasabi dark chocolate from Lindt. Oh my.

GuyMartin - whenever I fancy something in the evening I go for a peppermint tea with a teaspoon of Coconut Oil in it (the Groovy stuff is the best). Really satisfying.

Although last night I had Greek yoghurt with some Almond Essence I randomly had in the (now redundant) baking cupboard.

Valdeeves · 03/02/2013 21:01

Tea tonight is cauliflower/broccoli cream/ cheese bake.

Really going to be strict next week and also begin some exercise.

Guy - how nice is that from your MIL?

Skandi - glad you've been getting some sleep. You feeling ok?

Yama - hope your back is ok?

You know, I loooove this thread - thanks BIWI - really really helps and I really love reading your daily input.

Hello everyone, and sorry I've missed a shed load of posts.

Had a nice day today, my teeth were no longer hurting Confused so I was able to enjoy my cooked breakfast and lovely roast dinner (I don't do three meals a day on a weekend, I just can't face it)

We went over to my lovely PILs. They themselves have been low carbing since September last year, after hearing me rave about it and seeing my results. They've both done so fantastically well, they've lost a good four stone between them and now look marvellously svelte. I'll be honest, they don't really fully understand the 'science' behind it, but they embraced it nonetheless and it works so well for them. They're in maintenance now, and total Foodies, so they enjoy following 'bootcamp' rules during the week, and then eat/drink whatever they like at the weekend.

They're spreading the LC Word via all their friends Grin

Glad you're feeling better ethyl

Had to laugh, we stopped off at a Lidl near PILs (I don't use the one in our town. It's like something out of Shaun of the Dead). I picked up a bucket of the Greek yoghurt after seeing the raves about on here. Later, at home, I couldn't see it in the fridge. DS had out it in the garage, thinking it was paint Grin

Evening all, hope you had good weekends - Jac that was such a beautiful post and made me feel all emotional Thanks

We were away for the weekend with friends and even though they previously had Atkinsed there were all sorts of near-misses, but was really pleased that I managed to stay completely on the WOE food-wise - just drank waaaay too much - so I think I will be lucky to STS this week. Didn't have too much wine (two glasses of red, one prosecco) but lots of vodka with low-cal seven up too, was feeling it today (low carb hangovers are really horrid).

Not looking forward to the weigh-in tomorrow but I'm sure it will be fair. Back to the grindstone

PS and I'm glad that the celeriac and spinach/feta/chicken bake is going down well. I put it on the Bootcamp recipe thread, but not on recipe section. Will dig out the exact quantities for everything and put it there too.
