Week 4 - New Year Bootcamp - Where We Really Get Going

BIWI · 28/01/2013 08:55

Morning all!

Quick post from me as I have to go to work. Damn that RL!

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Remember that in this week, it is still likely that you may see very little or even no loss. This is entirely normal and will happen no matter how well you have been following Bootcamp rules

It sounds, though, like some of you are eager to report losses anyway, so that's brilliant!

However, there's been a lot of falling off the wagon recently, so can I suggest that we really get focused in this week and make sure that we don't allow the carbs to creep back into the diet? From here on, we're only really going to see losses of around 1-2lbs a week, so let's not sabotage things.

I put a little cream in the bowl, put a teaspoon and a half of cocoa on top, then a little more cream, gave it a stir, added more cream and then mixed it with a hand mixer till it stood in peaks. I used Green and Black's cocoa, only minimal carbs in I teaspoon! I did it that way so that the cocoa wouldn't stick to the bottom of the bowl or form lumps. Then I put the mix in a plastic bos in the fridge and have been having a spoon at a time for a treat.

herecomesthsun · 31/01/2013 14:42

Oh and 100g of cocoa powder would be 2/3 of a whole tub, you are only using an itsy bit so I would have thought that's okay!

Ruprekt · 31/01/2013 15:25

Tis weird but the tiffin and pots au chocolate are not tempting me one little bit today!

Must have been cos of the Reeces dream!

Maybe I have got through the sugar cravings.

Iamaslummymummy · 31/01/2013 15:54

Just had Greek yogurt, double cream, peanut butter and vanilla. Yum!

QuickLookBusy · 31/01/2013 16:00

Hello all.

Like Ruprekt, I'm not craving a chocolate fix, I am craving bread though, I keep dreaming of toast with lots of dripping butter on it.

Today I've had-
B-cheese and Palma ham
L-poached egg with lettuce
D-steak, creamy mushroom sauce and roasted veg.

BlackAffronted · 31/01/2013 16:30

I think I must have eaten something carby Hmm yesterday I was unsatiable all day, needing snacks constantly and then had the worst nights sleep ever! Today I fee; bloated. No idea what it could have been though?

BlackAffronted · 31/01/2013 16:56

Todays menu -

B - eggs, bacon, mushrooms
L - sausages, mayo, salad
D - Roast chicken, roast celeriac, buttered leeks
S - babybel

prettybird · 31/01/2013 17:29

Today:
B - 2 spoonfuls of Lidl yoghurt
L - bowl of chicken broth (chicken stock with shallots and with the remains of the meat from the chicken carcass shredded in to it)
S - about 8 cold chipolata sausages (97% pork, minimal carbs), 2 brazil nuts and 2 cheese triangles
D - will be cold pheasant, buttery broccoli and creamy celeriac gratin

Have to say that dh and ds have rebelled at the thought of celeriac gratin for the third time this week so ate getting chips. Grin

SavoirFaire · 31/01/2013 17:31

Eggy day:
B: 2 eggs with butter
L: 2 egg omelet with spinach mushrooms and goats cheese. It was gorgeous!
D: will be roast chicken with some green veggies tbc, possibly courgette and celeriac dauphinois.
I also had a small bow of yogurt with peanut butter and a dash of vanilla- you lot forced me into it. It was lush. Grin

Ilisten2theradio · 31/01/2013 17:38

Was bad yesterday Sad and had a Christmas biscuit.

Today though I met a friend who I hadn't seen since before Christmas who noticed my weight loss. ( and I measured 1.5 inches of my waist 2 off my hips YEAH) so that has sent me right back to being super strict again.

Today lunch was somewhat lacking in veg - I will make up for it at dinner - but my homemede pate was to die for - that won't last long!
(fry up mushrooms in butter add a slice of cut up bacon, tip out and leave the butter- add diced chicken breast and cook through - replace in pan with chicken liver add rest back to pan and add double cream and more butter( oh and a good splash of armengac(I hope it isn't too carby - didn't check)).
Tip out and blend. Spoon into ramekins and cover with melted butter. Chill in fridge

Jac I hope tomorrow goes as well as possible, and condolances to both you and froufrou.

AuntieMaggie · 31/01/2013 18:02

Evening ladies... I've been mostly good this week but from Monday I'm going back to full bootcamp.. I say Monday as its my birthday this weekend so will be drinking...

I haven't been hungry this week, not sure if its this cough or woe, so have skipped lunch a couple of days.

Tonight for dinner I made Nigellas Meatzza which was nice but the base was a bit rubbish... I didn't use breadcrumbs or parmesan in it. Has anyone made this?

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 31/01/2013 18:12

Hi all.

I've hit an unexpected hiccup. DH poisoned me with undercooked chicken thighs a week ago, but my tummy has never recovered. Am off work with repeated bouts of diarrhoea. I'm hoping to get to the doctor tomorrow. The nurse this morning advised me to eat nothing but bread, eggs, boiled potatoes, rice, pasta. No dairy, no caffeine, no sugar, no greens. I don't really know what to do for the best - I tried eating bread and butter yesterday and was a bit better and then had chicken caesar salad for dinner, followed by a bit of dark choc with strawberries in it (Lindt, mmm). Woke up this morning with tummy just as bad as ever. Confused The thing is, I have noticed in the past that bread/pasta etc can give me diarrhoea! So not really sure what to eat. Have dispatched DH to Tesco to buy bread and chicken soup. Any advice, o gurus?

Doshusallie · 31/01/2013 18:15

I'd actually like to know the average number of carbs I have a day. I have never bothered to count but am quite curious.

Can biwi or a carb counter guru cast your eye over today's food for eg and give me an estimate?

2 tablespoons of total ff Greek yog with say 3 table spoons double cream
3 breakfast frittatas from recipe section made with peppers, ham and eggs and mushroom. These were pretty small.
2 celery sticks
2 slices ham
Large chunk of Brie
Tablespoon of pb
6 macAdamia nuts

Not sure what is for tea yet, but any idea what the above would come to?

Yama · 31/01/2013 18:23

Hi guys,

I've been a bit preoccupied for the last week or so. Anyway, I had a hospital appointment today which was a bit grim. X-rays show that my rod in my spine is broken. I must admit, I starting crying when the consultant told me. Then he showed me the x-rays. He says that that is not causing my pain though. He's done a few blood tests and will phone me tomorrow. Or a week on Monday as he is away next week. Was there for 3 hours.

Feeling a bit tearful. I was hoping I'd be in and out and that they'd tell me the pain was nothing sinister. Doc talked about more invasive tests.

That's all a bit garbled. Just needed to get it down.

captainmummy · 31/01/2013 18:40

Dosh - have put your intake into MFP and the result is about 11g so far (have guessed at weights of 'chunk' of brie and assume Sainsbos PB.) the 'worst' offender is celery at 4g for 2 sticks, then the PB at 3g for 20g (crunchy) and the nuts 2g for 5-6 nuts. Everything else is only 1g each, (for your portion) so really not too bad.

Oh and i didn't calculate the breakfast frittats, as its difficult to guage - how many eggs, or peppers etc.

bulletwithbutterflywings · 31/01/2013 18:41

littlermiss I can't afford Jenny Packham either but I'm trying on all the designer dresses I love and then I might get one made by a friend of a friend in cheaper fabrics Grin

captainmummy · 31/01/2013 18:42

Oh and of course I should take off the 'fibre' (4g) so your intake for that food is about 7g. So far, frittatas notwithstanding.

Yama - that sounds horrendous. Even worse you have to wait over a week to get any more info?

BlackAffronted · 31/01/2013 18:56

AuntMaggie, I tried the Meatzza, its on my blog, we found the base rather blah too.

BlackAffronted · 31/01/2013 19:00

Oh Yama, poor you :( What kind of pain are you suffering? Im afraid I dont know your backstory. I hope you getthe news you want x

Doshusallie · 31/01/2013 19:03

Captain thank you. Even if we go worst case scenario then with frittatas we could say 15g so far, and I,m pretty sure it will be less than that, as all frittata ingredients pretty low carb.

,preicate it!!!

Celery, who knew.....?

Yama sorry to hear that, how upsetting for you Sad. I hope the news is good.

Yama · 31/01/2013 19:06

Thanks you lot!

I have Scoliosis and a rod the length of my spine. I'm well used to lower back pain but have had upper back pain since the end of November.

I've just spoken to my Mum and feel a lot better. Smile

BlackAffronted · 31/01/2013 19:14

Mums are magic, arent they :)

Yama · 31/01/2013 19:20

Yes, and she and my Dad are visiting on Sunday. Can't say fairer than that.

Eating wise, I've just been sticking to Bootcamp strict rules + wine at weekends.

BIWI's flaxseed crackers were ace. I use parmesan and mature cheddar instead of Cheshire though.

ShebaQueen · 31/01/2013 19:34

Yama I am so sorry to hear about your back, I hope you get better news soon. I'm sure a visit from your Mum will make you feel a bit better.

I've been very strict today although I am not sure that I've drunk as much water as I should so I'm off to glug some more now.

Have a good evening all.

BIWI · 31/01/2013 19:37

Dosh - I would have guessed higher than that, to be honest - but so much of what you have written is difficult to estimate. A tablespoon of yoghurt/PB - is it a heaped one?! Both of those get very carby very quickly.

Likewise your frittata - how many grams of peppers? And were they red or green?

Celery isn't a high carb veg.

If you really want to know, then you will have to weigh things and add it to the carb counter (on the spreadsheet) to find out!
