I can't even bring myself to type in my weight because I am so ashamed :(

I need to lose 3.5 stone before the end of May (going on holiday with a thin friend) I am doing My Fitness Pal (calorie counting) and I am going to do 1200 calories a day. It's brutal I know but then so was the reading on my scales this morning.

Effing Nora :(

Thanks Doublemum and Baubles - I think you are right. I have to have this chat with him - and I think he will be a lot less bothered than me. He is of the "food is fuel" type, so does not have my hang ups and weird food things. He is happy with a salad and some nice protein stuff.

And I was thinking about making a soup. I have tons of celery and carrots in the fridge, some cauliflower and a sweet potato, so I could do this tonight, and it would be quite easy. And we have a new chest freezer for exactly this type of thing. I will get on it! I am trying not to let myself get down and completely fall off the wagon. I have not lost anything since Monday - and I know I normally would.

Today is day 3 for me and I feel great. .. I think for me when I am in control of my eating I am in control of my life... I think I am an emotional eater... seems no matter how I am feeling ie upset angry happy pissed off I tackle it with food. .. anyone else do this?

CarriedAwayAnnie · 10/01/2013 15:02

I'm a comfort eater. I always reach for food to make me feel better.

Pinot · 10/01/2013 15:06

those pouches sound so clever - I've not seen them

Just caught up with everything and wanted to thank people for being so nice.

It took a lot of effort and tenacity to lose that weight and keep it off.

I had done WW in the past and Jenny Craig, and counted calories and none of those methods worked for me.

This did: I cut out carbs for the first three months. Now I know some will say low nutrition etc, but I ate well and was not hungry.

For breakfast I had yoghurt and manuka honey with fresh fruit.

Morning tea: A glass of water with chia seeds.

Lunch: a large colourful salad with pine nuts, pepitas, goji, walnuts with a tin of tuna

Afternoon tea: piece of fruit with green tea

Dinner: if i made spag bol i would have it sans pasta but on a bed of raw spinach. If it was stirfry, no noodles or rice. Sometimes, salmon with lots of colourful veg or steak or chicken. Grilled or poached. Flavoured with herbs.

I did not bother with measuring. I just watched my portions: usual steak size of palm etc etc.

I drank lots of water, and cut out coffee and tea. Drank a lot of buddha's tears tea (hand rolled white tea with jasmine petals).

After the three months, i had some carbs but not a lot. I find I do not really miss them.

I exercised every day; never ever missed going to the gym. I also started dancing and danced at one point about 5 times a week. I found that the exercise kept hunger at bay.

Clothes ( I adore dressing up and clothes bring me so much joy) were my incentive to keep going. Plus I was starting to look really good and garnering a lot of interest from men which was rather nice Grin.

Now I am working on getting flexible for my new obsession Tango! I have started Iyengar yoga and still work out at my gym about 5 or 6 times a week. I have 3 dance lessons a week and dance at the dance parties twice a week for about 3 - 4 hours at a stretch. I also go for long walks with my dawg.

I eat a bit more variety now but find I am rarely tempted to overeat or choose poorly. Food is fuel for my body. I love how I look. I look much younger than my real age and get mistaken for being in my mid 30s sometimes which is vair naice Grin.

This method worked for me. I just wanted to share it.

PinkyCheesy · 10/01/2013 15:12

DH finally went back to work today for 4 days after being off for Xmas since 28 Dec!! So I made my fave lunch of chilli salt squid (he hates fish), high on fat (veg oil to fry) but otherwise OK. Trying to eat more today to fill up my calories, so had some cheese and ryvita afterwards. Love love love those black pepper ryvita Smile

Tonight's meal is homemade fishcakes for the kids and I might have one too if calories allow. Otherwise yogurt and fruit AND MORE WATER Grin Grin

Hope you're all having a good day too. I even turned down a luxury chic biccie with my coffee this morning * polishes halo *

GeekLove · 10/01/2013 15:32

Grrr. Food wise I reckon i can crack this providing I am booze free in the week and am judicious with my treats. But no Shred for a whole week since DH isn't here! I guess I can go lunges/planks/pushups but it's not the same without Jillian.

CarriedAwayAnnie · 10/01/2013 15:44

DON'T DIAL IT IN GEEKLOVE

YOU ARE STRONG

I DON'T WANT YOU PHONING THIS IN

HTH Grin

MaureenShit · 10/01/2013 15:47

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 10/01/2013 15:58

Joining you ladies!

Way overweight. Serial fluctuator. Can't believe I've ended up back here after kissing goodbye to four stone in my mid twenties :( Just lost half a stone through Norovirus. When am better and can eat properly again I'll be capitalising on it. My MFP looks like this at the moment

1 piece of dry toast 100 calories
minus one piece of dry toast -100 calories

Half a can of soup.

Dioralite.

theowlworrier · 10/01/2013 16:23

Still reeling from the fact that the scales at the doctor's weighed me at 4 whole entire pounds heavier than my own scales. Bah. Still. 2lb down this week. Still have a cold and have had flu short so feeling very sorry for myself. Wahhhh. Could murder a big fat sandwich. But will have a salad at lunchtime... (30 minutes and counting!)

DoubleMum · 10/01/2013 16:32

Annie I only discovered on Pinterest that you can actually cook boiled eggs in the oven - stick them in muffin trays. I might like to test it out before I do 10 at once though!

GetOrf · 10/01/2013 16:39

I haven't been on here for a bit.

What the actual FUCK are nectacots and Mary Cadogan chickens? Grin

I have lost 2 pounds (in your face)

GetOrf · 10/01/2013 16:41

I am in the zone as well.

If the zone is hardly eating at all!

I am a a bit busy at work, back to back meetings so not eaten today, so am going to the gym when I get home and having one of their stir fries (cal counted) and a workout, and then something substantial at home later on.

PinkyCheesy · 10/01/2013 16:50

My jeans were looser this afternoon! I kept having to hoik them up while waiting at school (look out for 'AIBU to ask this woman to wear a smaller size') OMG Grin
cake and wine too celebrate

MaureenShit · 10/01/2013 16:55

has pinot had a shit yet?

MaureenShit · 10/01/2013 16:56

Pinot · 10/01/2013 17:01

Mo - Hmm :o

I did weigh my boobs though. 6lb.

Thinking of doing the harcombe diet. Anyone had experience of it?

MaureenShit · 10/01/2013 17:02

NO! just do a normal diet loon face

Pinot · 10/01/2013 17:04

Ach, stop with the compliments. I shall blush.

WHY NOT? She seems v smart on twitter

DoubleMum · 10/01/2013 17:06

Pinot I've got the Harcombe diet book but I haven't actually read it yet. It's low carb-y though isn't it.

theowlworrier · 10/01/2013 17:10

Getorf, your gym does StirFries?? Where is this nirvana?
And Pinot- how did you weigh your boobs. I reckon mine must be a stone each

Pinot · 10/01/2013 17:12

I weighed myself, then got DH to stand behind me and hold them to take their weight and weighed myself again. He was a very good assistant :o I was quite surprised only 3lb per boob (am G cup).

mama2moo · 10/01/2013 17:16

I have lost 6 stone in 2 years I now weigh around 11st 3lbs. The lightest I have ever been!!

My advice - Dont buy anything that will tempt you. I am awful with food and if I have chocolate bars in the house I will eat them all. But, treat yourself every now and then.

I have a cross trainer now too. I do 10-15 mins most nights when Eastenders is on!
