2013 Weight Watchers over here!

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Phew Sallybear! You had me worried for you! I must try F&H properly. We cook from scratch a lot anyway and it is all foods I like on G&H. Im a great believer in no processed crap. Although I do resort to ready meals when DH is away.

We ended up having a fried rice dish from the BBC Good Food website tonight to use up some leftover turkey and ham (from the freezer - it hasnt been hanging around since Xmas!) - it was nice but I had too much. Then DH forgot I was doing WW and made me some crackers with stilton. And I ate it.

Havent worked out points yet. But have all my 49 as today is day one for me so should be ok.

Schooldidi · 08/01/2013 22:29

SallyBear We've got a George Foreman grill and we really like it. I like the way the fat drains away from whatever I'm cooking but as I've never used a griddle pan I wouldn't know if the fat stays away from the food on there as well.

Fork Yes I'm enrolled online but I can't figure out how to use the calculator if it isn't something I've got the nutritional information available for, it probably isn't possible. I suppose I just want a bigger range of generic foods on the tracker already. If they know the average points value of various takeaways, cakes, etc then it shouldn't be too much for them to put them in their database, I could do it in a day or two. I am planning on changing my lifestyle but it's a matter of knowing what changes I'm going to stick to and which ones I wouldn't. Cutting down on cakes etc I will stick to, cutting them out completely I won't, so I want to be able to easily track what I do eat so I can cut down elsewhere.

ethelb That cheat sheet can't be right (it might be, I don't really know), it seems to say that a mushroom chow mein, which I usually have if we have a chinese, is only 9 points but that's the same points as the weightwatchers ready meal I had today. If it's right then I can eat takeaway every night, but I suspect it's restaurant portions which would be smaller than takeaway portions.

CelticPromise · 08/01/2013 22:37

Addicted if you can't be arsed to prepare a squash you can buy them ready chopped and frozen I think.

LegoAcupuncture · 08/01/2013 22:39

We had curry and rice tonight, only I had cauliflower rice at 0pp so saved loads of points. Had a mini naan bread though at 4pp Hmm

SallyBear · 08/01/2013 22:41

Celtic, I can never be arsed to peel a squash either! Hence why I cut them in half and roast them. Wink

INeedThatForkOff · 08/01/2013 23:06

Come on in NoWay, lego and boggler (boggler, I'm losing cake baby weight too).

For those looking for low point snacks, if you crave chocolate Jaffa cakes are 1pp each if you have 2 (mysteriously, 3 are 4pp. Guess that's rounded up). I've been having treat size Crunchies for 2pp. Also, Panda licorice bars (yum!) are 2pp. I have a sweet tooth Grin

Sorry ladies I haven't kept up with this thread but having a scroll this evening noticed some who weighs 18st has 37pts.... I weigh 15st 11 and have been given 36pts

Am now very scared I've been given too many points as surely 3st difference in weight equates to a bigger difference in daily points?!

The mushroom and tomato soup recipe looks lush and I'll be trying that at the weekend

Curly wurlys are good choc snacks too at only 3pts for a huuuuge bar!

Vajazzler · 08/01/2013 23:57

Jazzcat they work out pp using your height weight and age as these all affect how many calories your body needs each day.
Glad to see the soup recipe is being tried. I also make butternut soup but haven't tried the Harissa version. Not actually sure what Harissa paste is Blush

SallyBear · 09/01/2013 06:56

Vajazzler - Harissa paste is a Moroccan spice. It comes in a tiny jar. You use as much as you need to suit your individual taste.

SallyBear · 09/01/2013 07:29

Three pounds off!!!!!! Fifty-three to go.

CelticPromise · 09/01/2013 07:31

Morning everyone.

Sally I'm going to try doing mine that way. I usually just get DH to peel them.

ForkOff good tip, I'm adding mini Crunchies to the shopping list!

Have a good day everyone. I'm going to start by walking DS to nursery and running home.

CelticPromise · 09/01/2013 07:31

Well done Sally!

SallyBear · 09/01/2013 08:10

Thank you! I'm woofing down toasted crumpets with chopped bananas for breakfast before rushing all four DC to school. In going to carry on with F&H this week as its a no brainier for me, and I don't feel too obsessed with food - oddly! Smile

AddictedtoCrunchies · 09/01/2013 08:19

Sally that's great, well done!

I've just put some trousers on that were snug last week and I'm sure they feel looser today. May be my imagination but I'll take it [hopeful emoticon]

Vajazzler have just updated my tracker for today and lunch is "Vajazzler soup - 0". Am so glad no one else can see what I write Smile

Have a great day everyone.

tanfastic · 09/01/2013 08:24

Has anyone tried Weight Watchers golden syrup breakfast oats? I think you can only buy them at meetings but I tried them this morning and they are very nice. The portion looks minuscule until you leave it for a couple of minutes and it appears to expand. Add a chopped banana - 3 points. Good luck today ladies Smile

bigTillyMint · 09/01/2013 08:48

Well done SallyBear!

If you are doing the online one, can you go to the meetings too? Or could you just go to buy some stuff?

SallyBear · 09/01/2013 08:57

Tilly. Hate the meetings. Loads of women whimpering about the toasted tea cake they had contributing to the four pound gain. Confused
Reality is that DH is abroad a lot and I can't guarantee that I'll attend weekly meetings. So you guys are my support group! Grin

CiderwithBuda · 09/01/2013 09:27

Morning all.

I updated my weight tracker yesterday on the app and have put so much back on I get an extra point. Which is kinda good and kinda bad all at once!

Trying to summon up the enthusiasm to go and walk down to Tonacise. Then back to get organised to get the train up to see friends tonight in Berkshire. I used to live in Budapest and it's a reunion of some friends from then. We all live all over the place now. Am so excited. It will be very loud and fueled by lots of champagne. One friend has come from Australia and another is coming from Dubai as a surprise. Friend from Australia has no idea friend from Dubai is coming but the rest if us do.

Sallybear - funny how different we all are. I enjoy the meeting I go to. Everyone is really friendly and supportive. Our leader is a bit of a nutter which helps! And well done on that 3lbs! Great loss.

Right. Off to exercise. See you all later!

Vajazzler · 09/01/2013 09:54

Thanks for that Sallybear. Is it hot? I like things with a bit of a kick so i'll look out for it next time i do a shop. Well done too on your loss thats great!
Addicted- Love it! I've never had anything named after me before so i feel rather honored Grin
I think the meeting ambiance is determined by the attenders. When i started WW i went to a fab group. Everyone was really friendly and we helped each other with recipes and ideas. Even when we got a new male leader the group went from strength to strength. But then i moved away and the group i joined is full of older ladies moaning about stuff all the time.

Well, i did my first schoolrun of the year today and the first one since my car went to scrapheap heaven. Power walked the whole way as the kids were on scooters. It's a 3.4 mile round trip but i forgot to put my pedometer on so ill have to find it for the afternoon trip. Dont want to miss out on any activity points!

LegoAcupuncture · 09/01/2013 11:06

Well done Sally.

I'm not keen on the meetings, all the ones in our area are full of old women who never seem to lose any weight.

I've had oats so simple for breakfast made with a teeny bit of milk 4 pp.

Rumours · 09/01/2013 11:16

Morning, I've finally been weighed and have my allowance and have started tracking today. I feel quite happy about it all today, like m gettin some control back over my eating. My main problem is portion size, so this will really help.
Just been shopping and bought a butternut squash, I'm going to roasted as suggested above then make a soup.

onthemetro · 09/01/2013 11:20

Well done Sally!

4lbs off for me this week, I'm very happy with that, especially because I haven't felt like I'm on a diet in the slightest. 3 more pounds and ill be under 200lbs, woo!

I'm going to have to buy a butternut squash now after this thread Smile

Vajazzler · 09/01/2013 11:23

Rumours i too have issue with portion control. I am a big eater and struggle with small portions so find it easier when i bulk out meals with veggies.

sidsgranny · 09/01/2013 11:34

Hi,

Went back to WW last night as I know that this year I DEFINITLEY have to shift this weight!

I'm 5ft 6" and weighed in at 13.11!!! Have set my goal weight to 10.11 and am feeling fairly daunted at the thought of losing 3 stone. But I have done WW before (many years ago, pre hubby and son) so I know that I can do it and it does work.

Let's go for it!

Rumours · 09/01/2013 11:36

Vajazzler that's why I chose WW over SW, because you can eat loads with SW but that doesn't help me control my portions which is what I need to change.
