2013 Weight Watchers over here!

INeedThatForkOff · 06/01/2013 08:54

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Cheese; nuts?

OP posts:
NoWayNoHow · 31/01/2013 12:10

How did I not think of nuts!!!

Don't want to have too much cheese as the fat content is high which can be a problem for my gallstones.

Going to buy a massive bag of cashews/similar this pm!

CiderwithBuda · 31/01/2013 12:26

Well done everyone. Some great losses and some great motivating going on.

NoWay - I know you are supposed to use all your points on WW but low carb is such a different way of eating that I wouldn't stress about using all your points. You are eating healthier, more nutrient dense food and it is more filling partly because you are not filling your body with rubbish which leaves it crying out for actual nutrients. That's my theory anyway!

But if you do need snacks I tend to have oatcakes with low fat philadelphia on it's own or with a few strawberries or banana. The chocolate Philly is nice too with sliced banana. Or peanut butter. Or hummus. Or a yoghurt - not diet/low-fat. Nuts are good but easy to overeat.

OhTheConfusion · 31/01/2013 12:34

Thanks for the link Sally bear, some of the recipeis look lovely.

Well im on day 3 of WW and day one of period... I have just eaten scoffed an entire box (5) of ww chocolate cake bars Blush. I have pointed them though so onwards and upwards!

About have my main meal now as have my cut/colour booked for tonight and thought I would take my 'lunch' to eat then to save me going off the rails.... and into the chocolate

I did all my measurements last night and really horrified myself Blush.

didireallysaythat · 31/01/2013 20:16

You guys are inspirational....

I almost didn't go to weigh in tonight - but I did, and I stayed. I definitely wouldn't have been able to show my face here otherwise !

Travelling with work next week - not great as I'll have no control over the food and I have a tendency to de-stress from dealing with people all day by eating chocolate... So instead I'm taking nail varnish and I'm going to give myself the best pedicure ever. Sad, but my feet will thank me and hopefully I won't have too big a gain. Distractions - that's what it's all about !

INeedThatForkOff · 31/01/2013 20:32

didireallysaythat, do you have the WW app? I think that's what's helping me most - I track everything I eat, before or immediately after I eat it. It takes the effort of constantly totting up PPs away and keeps me aware of what I'm eating. There's very little that's not on there it you can't find the equivalent for, and it incorporates a points calculator.

I've mentioned before that I run the Android version which has dire reviews but I find it ok. It has the odd meltdown but always saves the data. The weight tracker's not very good though.

Argh had my first working lunch today since starting WW. Had to opt for the healthiest option on the menu - morrocan chicken with cous cous. No idea how many points it was but have guessed at 18 having looked at similar dishes in my Eating Out book.

Still have some weeklies left but really want to lose at Saturday's weigh in so might have vajazzle soup tomorrow lunch and plenty of water throughout the day to wash away the fat!

Discovered that 4 Cadbury's fingers are 3pp so quite a nice treat with an afternoon cuppa

Treated DH and myself to Dominos last night and tracked it all - worked out each slice of a medium Texas BBQ pizza is 5 points and there are 8 slices in a medium pizza so had 6 slices and dipped into my weeklies. It felt so sinful but so great knowing I'd planned for it and had points to cover it.

Need 0.5lb off on Saturday then will have lost half a stone in 4 weeks which is a nice steady loss as far as I'm concerned. Fingers crossed the Dominos and lunch today haven't ruined it!

Keep up the good work ladies!

Livinginorganisedchaos · 31/01/2013 20:47

Didi I would also recommend the WW app. I had 2 long days away with work this week and normally any attempt to diet goes out the window. I found the app really helpful for keeping me on track. At conference meals, I just went for the lighter looking meat or fish dishes and asked for veg not potatoes or rice.

I also took some low point snacks to help me avoid chocolate. For example, mini bags of popcorn, oat cakes and kit kats (okay its chocolate but less pp than a snickers bar)

And at the end of the day its only one week and you can back on track when you get back. Dont beat yourself up if you have a few nights off plan.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 31/01/2013 21:34

I need a Crunchie line Blush Blush Blush

3 pieces of birthday cake. However apart from that I've only had 11 points today (out of 32) so do you think I might be ok?Hmm Confused

Weigh in tomorrow. Hope I haven't chuffed it up. Blush

didireallysaythat · 31/01/2013 21:52

I'll down load the app before I go. My fear is (hark at me, I should be grateful I get the chance I know) its 4 days at a conference in France with evening meals entertaining collaborators. I fear 0pp soup may not be on the menu.

But I'll take my pedometer and walk between hotel and the centre rather than getting the bus. Its about an hours walk, assuming its not snowing.....

What I need is very low point snacks other than fruit (which never travels well with me!)

didireallysaythat · 31/01/2013 21:54

Oat cakes - does anyone have a favourite low point brand they can recommend ? Haven't had oat cakes for ages !

SallyBear · 31/01/2013 22:10

Didi - 4 days in France. Crunchie line for you when you get back. I think that when things are out of our control you should just literally eat within moderation and then draw a line under it. Take your swim suit as there is bound to be a hotel so you could always do a 30 minute swim every morning/evening to try and burn off those croissants!

didireallysaythat · 31/01/2013 22:24

Alas I've stayed there before - forget hotel, think student bedsit and you're closer to it. Low fat breakfast a challenge when its a croissant or nothing....

SallyBear · 31/01/2013 23:20

Then don't beat yourself up about it.
----------
That's a "Crunchie line" pending for your trip. Smile

AddictedtoCrunchies · 01/02/2013 07:12

4th weigh in and 2lbs off. That's 10lbs since 7th January.

Grin
didireallysaythat · 01/02/2013 07:39

Thank Crunchie it's Friday ?

bigTillyMint · 01/02/2013 07:47

Wow Crunchie, That's fantastic!

Envy!

Stickwithit · 01/02/2013 08:35

Well done crunchie, fantastic.

I'm off to my weight in this morning. Not feeling very confident. I've kept to my points but have sort of eaten more than I did pre WW- due to me turning into an over enthusiastic cook since starting WW. We've eaten proper hearty meals every night, within points and I think I've overdone it Blush.

Hoping for a loss however small, otherwise I think I might loose a bit of motivation.....

SallyBear · 01/02/2013 08:40

Well done Crunchie!!!! Grin

flatmouse · 01/02/2013 08:47

Well done crunchie, you can stop worrying about the birthday cake now!

didi i went from mentally pronouncing your name "Did I" per your whole name to "did ee" as soon as you mentioned France :)

Grapefruit and orange for bfast today - very refreshing (Friday is a low point during the day day as i know it'll be high points tonight!).

Stick good luck with WI - if you've kept within points you should be OK - and yes, i've become much more enthusiastic a cook than pre-WW. Last night, i was doing veg n couscous. I had 30g of couscous (3pp), 1/2 tablespoon olive oil (2pp) and loads of different veg that i cooked in the oil to mix with the couscous. Was probably too big a portion size, and i think next time i could probably reduce to 20g. Pre-WW i would have more likely had 60g of couscous (6pp) made with butter (2pp) and much fewer veg.

hpsaucy · 01/02/2013 09:22

Hi my DH has signed up today online.

I want to do it with him, does anyone know how many points I would be allowed. I'm 36, weigh 10 stone 4 and am 5ft 3.

OhTheConfusion · 01/02/2013 09:44

Well done Cruncie!

Did I, could you pack some special K bars in your bag? Im away for a few nights in Feb and already trying to think how I can do it. I am thinking yogurt and fruit for breakfast, Special K bars for snacks and M&S guilt free popcorn for a fix at night. Other than that I will just need save my weeklies for dinner and try to be good!

INeedThatForkOff · 01/02/2013 10:05

hpsaucy, you'd have 26 + 49 weeklies.

Well done Crunchie

I'm so tired today I can't be bothered to think about food.

OP posts:
NoWayNoHow · 01/02/2013 10:37

Well done crunchie that's a great loss! Stick good luck with your WI - if you have been absolutely religious with your tracking and have noted the right portion size for everything you've eaten, there should be no reason for you not to lose weight if you're within points, even if you feel like you've eaten too much.

I've had a loss of 1.5lbs this morning, so the higher protein, no wheat diet seems to be more effective. I still inexplicablt feel slightly disappointed, but I think I need to be realistc in that I can't expect the same kind of losses I had when I was trying to lose 2.5 stone when I've only got just under a stone to lose this time. They always say that the closer you get to your ideal weight, the harder it gets.

Good luck to everyone WI today and hope you all have a great weekend! I will endeavour to put some more recipes on the recipe thread today some time if I have time.

CiderwithBuda · 01/02/2013 11:49

Wow Crunchie! Brilliant loss. Well done.

And NoWay - glad it's working.

Didi - Nairns oatcakes are 1 point each.

Well I am still here. Went to Exeter shopping on Wednesday and ended up in Starbucks for lunch. Had a salad box thing with falafel, pitta, tzatsiki, couscous and salad. I didn't eat the pitta breads. Can't find the salad on the app so still trying to point it all. I also treated myself to a skinny blueberry muffin. Then I looked it up. 10 points. The normal blueberry muffin is also 10 points! I had half. Then ended up having a fry-up for dinner as that was what DS wanted and I couldnt be bothered doing two meals. Really enjoyed it though as hadn't had one for ages.

Yesterday was really good all day in preparation for fish and chips for dinner. Got a small portion and split it with DS. So I had two thirds of the fish and half of the chips and some mush peas. About to work out the points for that little lot too!

Just been menu planning for the weekend and next week. Am using the HD book so will let you all know what is nice.

Weigh in for me is Tuesday but I have had a sneaky weigh at home and so far so good. Just need to keep off the wine for the weekend which is always my downfall.
