2013 Weight Watchers over here!

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Hi confusion. The recipe thread is [[http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/1656975-2013-Weight-Watchers-Over-Here-Recipe-Thread
Here]]

CiderwithBuda · 29/01/2013 22:27

Thanks for all the encouragement guys.

Ineedthatforkoff - I had had all my weeklies plus someone else's! Blush

Had an ok day today. Cooked beef stirfry from a WW cookbook for dinner. It was nice. Even DH liked it and he isn't keen on stir-frys. Had lots of bean sprouts instead of rice. Had one weak white wine soda and was hungry after dinner and had an apple and a light baby bel.

Well done on losses and welcome newbies. On phone so not easy to scroll back to check names - sorry!

We watched the hairy dieters tonight - DH had recorded them ages ago. It's inspired me to try a few more things from their book.

Sallybear - be interested to see what the cottage pie is like. I haven't used proper mince for so long that I am used to the low fat stuff now!

I think what is good about their recipes is that they are real foodies so there is still lots of flavour in their dishes. I find a lot of the WW ones a bit bland.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 29/01/2013 22:33

Buda here's a Crunchie line for you. Tomorrow's another day.

---------

Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

SallyBear · 29/01/2013 22:59

HD Cottage Pie was yummy. It called for mashing the potatoes with reduced fat creme fraiche. I think I prefer how I do my potato topping - crushed potatoes with cooked leeks mixed in and some cheese sprinkled on the top.

MagdalenVanstone · 29/01/2013 23:00

Hi all,

Buda, hang in there, I'm glad you had a better day today.

Interesting to see what people thought of the dispatches programme, the leader was talking about it at my meeting today, not pleased, obviously.

I've not yet watched it, I went to watch it on 40d late last night and it wasn't up yet, so watched last weeks on fruit and veg pricing and it seemed like journalism by a 14 year old GCSE student, TBH, so not surprised people found this weeks the same.

No big revelation to me that some of the products are full of absolute crap, although at my first meeting I have to say I was absolutely incredulous that they were selling this stuff. Oh well, who needs a ww chocolate bar for 2 points when you can have 5 minstrels instead!

I lost 3.5lbs this week which is annoyingly 0.5lb off my first stone, but I'll get there next week, I hope. I had worked really hard this week on my food and exercise, so I was pleased it shows.

Had the best 2points of my WW career so far tonight- I highly recommend- not really a recipe but 1/4 packet of made up custard from a sainsbury's packet of sugar free custard (I daren't look at the ingredients list on it) with a roasted fruit salad of baked apple, pear and blackberries. It was bloody lovely (and massive) Smile

NoWayNoHow · 30/01/2013 08:59

Hey all

Congrats on all the losses, and well done for those who have slipped up but drawn crunchie lines under the experience!

Am miserably ill at the moment with cold/flu so have been at home, but unbelievably not been stuffing my face. Have been low carbing and avoiding wheat and sugar as suggested to help with this potential PCOS thing, but have also been tracking at the same time, and I'm barely able to use up my dailies. I genuinely can't believe how full I am on high protein - I'm finding that I can't even finish my meals, and I'm just not snacking at all. And, despite AF, I'm hardly retaining any water.

I can definitely feel a difference in my clothes, so for the first time since starting WW this time round, I'm quite excited But WI in Friday!

Hope everyone has a lovely day Thanks

NoWayNoHow · 30/01/2013 09:37

Have added delicious non-WW recipe to thread - perfect for F&H and low carb

CiderwithBuda · 30/01/2013 09:57

Hi NoWay - sorry you are feeling rotten but very pleased you are seeing a difference with the low carbing. Or the "no crap carbs" as I call it!

I am back on it too. My blip with the bread on Monday has convinced me.

SallyBear · 30/01/2013 10:43

Lost another pound ladies! Pleased that takes me to 8lbs off in four weeks. I'm sorry that you're feeling rotten Noway. DS4 was horribly ill last week with a flu virus. 40 degree temps for four days. Not good. So I am popping some cold and flu myself as I have some nasty coldy feeling myself this week. I bought proper porridge oats yesterday, and they can be microwaved so hopefully they will fill me up even more!

SallyBear · 30/01/2013 10:43

Like the "no crap carbs" comment Buda!

SallyBear · 30/01/2013 10:48

Just checked out Noway's steak and bean mash. Looks absolutely delicious!! I will be doing that definitely! [[

lucamom · 30/01/2013 11:27

I wanted to add a vote for Filling & Healthy - always a traditional 'pointer' in the past, have been doing F&H for 3 eeks now and have lost 12lb (wk 1 - 7lb, wk2 - 3lb, wk3 - 2lb). Hand on heart can honestly say I haven't felt hungry once, and have managed my cravings for snacks and sweet things by using all my weeklies for treats (I make a treat box of ww bars etc so I know that I don;t have to track), then as long as I follow the F&H list I can eat to satisfaction throughout the day.

Think this might be me having finally found a realistic way of eating for the future. It's re-invigorated my excitement for healthy eating and restored my faith in ww. Glad I no longer work for them, but can't fault the plan!

Keep going all x

SallyBear · 30/01/2013 11:56

Lucamom I have been doing the F&H all month. To not have to count everything takes a lot of pressure away from me. It's also encouraged me to cook from scratch, though walking past the M&S ready meals today was tough.....

flatmouse · 30/01/2013 12:15

Some really impressive weight losses Sally, Magdalen and lucamom :)

So i kind of blew my dailies and had a huge chunk of winelies last night (3 g&t's, 2/3 bottle red, tandoori mixed grill has that effect!) but great night out - and i reckon total for that lot (was 40pp) - so only 13 off my winelies as had only used 1pp during the day.

Now then ladies - how do i point up home made chips? I'm talking done in a deep fat frier. What's confusing me is how does the weight change from raw potatos to cooked chips (so i know how much to make based on pp of cooked) or how much fat do i add to the raw weight to pp it? Bit confused - but that'd be lovely with the sea bass we have out for tea tonight.

To whomever was asking (sorry on previous page and can't double check), the thai green soup recipe is on the recipe thread that sally has linked to above.

SallyBear · 30/01/2013 12:49

Chips listed in WW App as 5pp per 100g thick cut and fried.

onthemetro · 30/01/2013 13:40

I've had about 2 hours sleep after working through the night...then up at 7 and have worked solidly, now I'm on a train going to London to visit my mum and oh god I am knackered! I've got to the point of exhaustion where my throat is burning Hmm

But I have managed to keep away from all the naughty foods I've craved, apart from a 3pp chocolate mousse last night Smile

Well done everyone on the losses! This thread continues to be so inspiring Smile

AddictedtoCrunchies · 30/01/2013 14:05

Well done everyone. I continue to be inspired and motivated by this thread - I feel as though you will all be checking in on me post weigh-in so I can't mess it up else you'll all be disappointed in me Smile

I'm due my 4th weigh in on Friday (wk1 (Mon) -3; wk2 (Mon) -1 and wk3 (Fri) -4). This is the longest I've managed to stay motivated for and I'm sure it's having you lot to 'chat' to. And I've never been on an ongoing thread that's hit the 1000 limit before either!!

My gorgeous DS is five tomorrow and so I may let myself have a piece of his birthday cake but that's all. Nothing else for me outside of my normal plan for the day.

Haven't been running for two weeks either because of the snow and ice but have so much netball going on I've not really had the time either. At least I'm doing something.

We're away at half term and I'd quite like to have lost another 4lbs by then which would make 12. And my trainers are definitely going with me to offset all the nice food and wine.

Have a great day all Thanks

Livinginorganisedchaos · 30/01/2013 21:11

Well done everyone on your losses. I am also going to try cottage pie tomorrow but I am going to make mine with a cauliflower topping to see how it turns out. I am thinking I will use my individual pie dishes so DH and DC can stick to potato.

I am going to do my measurements on friday as well as my weigh in as it will be the end of month 1. Unusually for me I am still feeling motivated to stick to the plan and carry on next month. I am looking forward to having a drink this weekend as my alcohol free detox will officially be over Smile

INeedThatForkOff · 31/01/2013 08:59

I'm down 2 1/2 lbs this week, which I'm so pleased with Grin That's a shade under half a stone in four weeks, eating all my weeklies, having a blip (over a week off) and having no time for exercise - this will change mid-Feb so hopefully I'll do even better this month. Because I haven't been strict with myself there's been no big drop, so what I've done this week should be achievable.

I'm amazed really. I've had a bit if chocolate or biscuits every day (these are bad habits that I'll drop as soon as I can get out of the house more); pasta with pesto and cheese; a gorgeous, buttery steak sandwich; jacket potato - blah blah blah, none of which are traditionally diet foods. Fruit and veg being free is great, too.

Milk supply is going strong, so no plans to do anything differently.

Oh, and I've lost 2.5" off my waist!

OP posts:
flatmouse · 31/01/2013 09:21

Fantastic INeed, well done! Seeing your inches lost on the waist reminds me that 1) i really do need to measure myself so i can see the difference and 2) i really do need to stop ignoring JM who is sitting next to the DVD player staring at me and telling me not to phone it in!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 31/01/2013 09:23

Put on some trousers this morning that I got in the Next sale and had to tighten the belt a notch. Grin Grin Am sure they feel looser round my bottom too Shock

SallyBear · 31/01/2013 10:07

I'm quite happy with how I am doing. I switched over to counting yesterday, as I'd bought some M&S minestrone soup. I thought loads about food yesterday. Not good. Back to F&H today which I've decided is more my comfort zone! I've a load of chicken thighs to use tonight, so I'm contemplating making a Red Thai Curry.

bigTillyMint · 31/01/2013 11:16

I am trying to stay strong, despite the huge chocolate cake that my colleague brought in for his birthday calling to meSmile

NoWayNoHow · 31/01/2013 11:16

Morning all! INeed well done!!!! SallyBear, glad F&H is working so well for you.

Looking forward to my WI tomorrow - can definitely feel a little difference in trousers.

I know this is going to sound weird, but has anyone got some good ideas for high pp protein snacks that I can eat? I'm avoiding wheat, and trying to go low carb too, but even after 4 slices rye bread, veg and borlotti bean soup for lunch, and chicken skewers with greek salad (complete with full fat feta) I still have 13pp left for the day.

I haven't finished my dailies once this week as the food is too filling, and also the kinds of snacks that I would normally choose to "waste" left over dailies are all loaded with carbs and sugar (think Starbucks muffins!), and I'm trying to avoid those food this week to see if it makes a difference to how much I'm losing.

Any help greatly appreciated!
